A trip from Tijuana to La Paz is a safe an enjoyable trip of 890 miles which is mostly 2 lane road. It's not a jump in the car and go, it requires pre-planning and good common mule sense! All major towns have a place to either camp or rent a room and by most standards are very nice. South of San Quintin you'll leave the coast and travel inland through Santa Ines. You'll see some of the strangest trees (looks like an upside down carrot) and the largest single rocks or stones you've ever laid eyes on. Rosarito you'll see the ocean again but just down the road is the bay of Guerrero Negro (437 miles from TJ). This is an interesting area and a good place to spent the night. From here you pass from the Pacific side of Baja through San Ignacio (which is like a jungle oasis) to the sea of Cortez at Santa Rosalia. You can take a ferry from here to Guaymas on the main land Mexico. South of here to Loreto you start to climb the verticle cliffs back to the center of baja and straight down to La Paz. La Paz also has a ferry to the main land, landing at Los Mochis, Sinaloa. As said, this trip requires planning but can be very enjoyable. Choose ur time of year carefully, the heat and rain can be a big factor in ur decision.
