Hmmm. I suppose that is what the insurace is for - THEY will bail you out of jail. Then I still don't need it. I've got my Mexican girlfriend to bail me out of jail ;^) My recommendations is to drive slowly, deliberately, and carefully down there. And drive a beat-up old car. I would think insurance might actually play against you - as they will haul you in just to extract money from the insurance company.
