Joejoe, Gambling in Mexico is legal at the sportsbooks. They do take out a small amount in addition to vigorish on only winning bets - I thought it was 1/2 of 1%, but people on this board say it is 1%. Not bad - especially if you hit them big as you don't have to worry about filling at a tax form for Uncle Sam. They pay promptly and with out a hassle. My buddly last Saturday hit them for over $1700 on the last race at Hollywood Park (Pick Three, Exacta, and a $50 bet on the horse to win. The teller did not have that much money at his station - it took about five minutes to pull the money from the vault in the back. When the Caliente use to have the 5/10 for horseracing it was not uncommon for gringos to walk out of there with more than $30K - in addition pay outs of over $100K were not unusual. The track would give you a cashier's check as I think they offered my buddy also. Their tickets are good at all Caliente's througout Mexico including Baja. There are at least three Caliente's by Pueblo Amigo, and they use to take bets inside the Pueblo Amigo Hotel and you could bet from your room -- that was when it was a Holiday Inn. I assume the same applies to the PA. Tickets are only good for 90 days - not like Vegas. Also be careful with the tickets because if you are keeping them and they get wet the ink turns into invisible ink. There are different limits for different sports and they are posted in the book. They use to pay track odds on horseracing and would even cover the Pick Six payout - that may have changed. They also will pay track odds for win place and show with the exception of 2 year old filly maiden races. Strange rule, but I looked it up when my amiga got I thought short changed by a teller.
