Ahora that's an interesting comment and I can't disagree or agree when it comes to Mexican women because I don't have the knowledge about what percentage of Mexican sex workers were abused. I had always assumed that it was a far lower percentage than their US counterparts - that poverty was more often driving them to become prostitutes than emotional instability so common among US sex workers. So what you are saying comes as a surprise to me.

I know that this is certainly true among U.S. sex workers including strippers. A large majority of them have been abused, physically and/or sexually, and/or have been abandoned by fathers in particular. However, when I've heard this analyzed by mental health professionals, the explanation is more often NOT that they are seeking control of their bodies as women, but exactly the opposite...they are seeking positive male attention and they've internalized that they get that by flaunting their sexuality and behaving promiscuously. But I've also seen evidence that backs up your analysis...I've heard victimized U.S. sex workers make direct statements that they want payment from every guy they will ever fuck...even men they are in love with...that it somehow makes them feel a measure of vengeance in the aftermath of their rape/abuse.
