Hi there, i have been in Bogota 5 times, looking for a change of pace. I'm looking to go to Cartagena in June. I'm a young single latino (34) just to let you anyone know if you are okay hanging with a young wingman. I also like to mix with the locals and go places where few gringos dare for getting good prime pussy I like to travel on a small budget. If it is okay with you, I will make arrangements to even book a 2 bedroom furnished apartment in Cartagena (I know the language) and know I can get something affordable if you want to. Chitown1, I don't think I can make that trip but gave fun. Try to learn some Spanish before you get there. Right down names and addresses to place you want to go and where you are staying. Easy to hand the cab driver the business card and ask how much.

You might find some girls that speak English. Not too many. If you want long term it makes it more fun if you can at least talk a little bit. I like the night life there. Not too hard to figure out where to go. I like apartments better. I have renterd from Juan. Make sure about hot water, a/c and wifi if you want internet access

The iPhone has a great app with freetranslation.com. Of course you need wifi access or you can use a laptop.

The guys on the beach are aggresive trying to sell stuff but you will get use to it. I would ask how much for anything. Make sure the price is clear. Everything is friendly then they tell you the price.

I am guessing you have read the reports here. A lot of information. Depends if you like during the day at the beach , staying out late at night, freelancers, a mix between pros and non pros are just pros. Of course there are semi pros.

The beach is not that nice. It is a great place to party and the old city is cool. If it rains the streets get high water quick. There are cabs everywhere and they are hungry for money. The will be waiting outside you hotel or apartment.

You will defintely see some guys there doing the same thing. Some guys hit the casinos before going out.

There is much written about MDE on this forum that will answer most all of your questions. Veteran mongers most likely will not respond to your post because a. We have most likely said it all before, over and over and over again! b. We are not into spoon feeding newbies who have yet to contribute anything of value to the community.

My advice is to spend an evening reading the MDE trip reports, topics and chat's over the last several months. They should provide a wealth of information about who, what, when and where. If any specific questions are still unanswered, those would be the ones to address to the forum. Most vets on this board are very helpful when we recognize a newbie has put effort into learning about a travel destination. Good Luck!

Yep found that out 3 weeks ago when I arrived on a thursday. My friend knows a place near PL that is starting to pick up and has 30k all you can drink. Also Prizma has no cover and the hottest ladies in town. Get there early with a nice group of girls and spring for a bottle. It will go along way!!

Meet the girls at the casas and strip clubs, get their cell numbers and invite them over. At the casas they work til 8:00 and some just want to go home, some don't. They don't go to work at the strip clubs until 9:00, so you have the afternoons. In both cases it's always best to get to know them a little bit before you ask them over. Always remember 95% of them will want to go home before dawn. It's not Rio.

After a long leave of absence, I am looking to take a long weekend (thurs-Mon) in Cartagena in August. It will be my sixth trip to Colombia, 1st to Cartagena. Exact dates is still in the air. I speak Spanish and blend in. I'll be willing to hook up with other fellow mongers and help on the cause

I will be in Cartagena August 4th to 6th. The 6th and 7th in Santa Marta. 8th-9th back in Cartagena. I really don't need a trip buddy. But if you want to meet with someone who can go tribal (I mean it since I speak spanish colombian almost fluently- with all the different accents of Pacifico, Costeno, Bogotano, Parce(Medellin) and Caleno) and hang out with him to get your bearings, I am your man. buy a cheap gsm phone online for $20 - $40 and pick up a sim card for it in the city. Im not an expert on the iphone matter and although it may work it seems like it is not likely the best risk/benefit situation.

So I am heading to Medellin Colombia this June (dates not concrete yet) and I was supposed to go with a friend because I will be renting a very nice two bedroom apartment but my friend cancelled.

So here's the deal guys. I am looking for someone to join me. Why join me? Well here is what I bring to the table.

1) I speak fluent Spanish and I will be more than happy to be your translator with the chicas.

2) This is not my first mongering trip. I have traveled to both Dominican Rep and Costa Rica to monger. So I will not be a annoying newbie with hang ups. If your a newbie no worries, I tend to get along with everyone as long as they hate Glen Beck.

2) Be a relatively normal human being with decent social skills. I am all for being quirky but I do not want to worry that when I sleep I will wake up missing my toes or that you will get drunk and ask the bouncer if he can suck your dick.

3) Be American, Canadian or Latino between the ages of 24-38

4)Don't be a pig. If you leave me surprises in the toilet, decide not to bathe in 3 days, begin to pluck your nose/ear hairs in front of me or damage/destroy anyone else's property because you were a dick, then I will hog tie you, throw you in the trunk of a taxi and have him drive you to the outskirts of Medellin.

One of my semi-monger traveling buddies has been pushing me to introduce him to Colombia, and he prefers Cartagena. I don't mind....

I've been thinking about a couple of days in Medellin coming or going; I'll see how the scheduling shakes out, as I'm not firm on my dates yet.

Jetblue is starting a direct route to Cartagena from NYC in november so I'll probably check out Cartagena once that's available.

I will be in Medellin from 7-17 Dec, my first time. I am staying at Mansion 1 (already have my room). Looking to link up with some fellow mongers to learn about Medellin. Easygoing, pay my own way, love the trade - can be a great wingman. Love to explore, "sightsee", etc - but would like the safety of one or two others. I can be pull my own weight as wingman (6'2", 225 lbs), not clingy but reliable.

I will be making my first trip to Medellin Nov 19-23rd. I only have 4 days so I want to hit the casas, explore the city and eat at good restaurants. I will be returning to Medellin and Cartagena: MDE April 7-10, on the 10th to CTG through the 17th. Love to hook up with other Hombres, PM me.

Was able to land a $217 fare LAX to MDE on Spirit the night of the 6th!! Still under $300 with exit row seats and a checked bag. What could go wrong?

The TSA lines will be so long because of sequestration that you will miss your flight to MDE.

If you do make in to MDE, you will not be able to return because all of the CBP in Miami and Fort Lauderdale will be on furlough.

Life is rough buddy.

The Spirit Air flight will be so late that the TSA delay won't matter.

They might be only be open from 8 AM to 11 AM.

Good advice for anyone: he has an assortment of quality apartments to rent in Cartagena, is honest and very helpful, and speaks English fluently.

BTW, Major, Spirit was on time, and we had no particular problems with TSA, and the long customs line in Miami moved quickly.

Yes, June 20 but the flights will leave MDE at 7:05 am daily, making it nearly useless.

Mega...Not being smart here but that is exactly the attitude that will get you in trouble. I have been to Bogota a dozen times and I agree the south end can be very dangerous at times. However, just when you think "I got this" and you let your guard down for a second on the street or with a new chica, that's when it will happen....be safe!
