I'm planning to leave for Hermo this Friday morning, July 25, 2003. I will return sometime Sunday. I am driving my two seater pickup and I'm looking for a buddy to share the fun times and of course the cost of gas and Mexican insurance.

After I found out that September 15th is Mexican Independence Day I decided to extend next weekend's trip another day so I will return to Tucson Tuesday, September 16th instead of Sunday, September 14th. !Viva Mexico!

Driving from Tucson to Hermosillo. Leaving early Friday morning, October 24th and returning by Sunday afternoon, October 26th. Plan to visit with some massage parlor regulars and perhaps squeeze in a fishing trip to Kino Bay or San Carlos on Saturday.

Thanks for all the info about Hermosillo. If you're serious about checking out Monterrey you might consider flying from Hermosillo. There is at least one non stop flight a day out of there.

Thanks for the tip, Reytj. Next time I go I may take a trip to the airport and check the prices to fly elsewhere in Mexico. Do you think it is generally cheaper to fly within Mexico compared to flying from the U.S. directly to destinations in Mexico?

Brewbro asks "Do you think it is generally cheaper to fly within Mexico compared to flying from the U.S. directly to destinations in Mexico? "
I just realized I never got around to answering your post which was purely unintentional. Although I haven't actually priced the fares I'm pretty confident that it's significantly less expensive to fly from Hermosillo than from Tucson.

Anyone still travelling to Hermosillo? I'm a regular to S. America, but can't get there often enough. After reading the posts, I think Hermosillo would be a fun two or three day diversion. Inbox me if you are headed that way. I'll clear my calendar and join you.

This is an open invite for anyone wishing to join me sometime on a trip to Hermosillo, the capital of Sonora.
If you would like more details on what is available in Hermosillo just read my trip reports. It is a very large city of about one million and has many fine restaurants, TD bars and MP's.
I have two girlfriends there presently and many other close friends so I visit there at least once a month. It is like a second home to me and I know the city very well. I stay in local hotels or No Tell Motels.
My current schedule allows me to travel on Mondays and return Wednesday or sometimes Thursdays. I don't like making weekend trips but one could be arranged if I had a couple of months advance notice.
Hermosillo is approximately 4 &1/2 hr drive from my home in Tucson, Arizona. You do need a Mexican visa (tourist card) but currently do not need a Permiso for your car or a Passport.
