Yeah baby! My plans came together yesterday. I will be in Japan on business from Dec 12 through Dec 22 then the PI from Dec 22 until Jan 3rd. I'll be at the Central Park along with the other CH crew. It's going to be fun.

Been doing a lot of research on AC here and on other boards. I was there about 10 years ago but just for a quick weekend while on business in Manila. I certainly was not armed with the G2 I will be with on this trip. It will be interesting to make a first hand comparison to Rio and other Latin American venues.

Due to ticket inavailability, I got a day shaved off the initial Thailand leg of my trip. SO I GUESS I JUST GOTTA SPEND AN EXTRA DAY IN THE PHILIPPINES!!! Epi and I are now scheduled to arrive in Manila early evening on 12/27. Will arrive in AC as soon as humanly possible after that. Looking forward to hanging out with all the guys who are supposed to be in town at that time (send me a pvt. msg. and I'll send you my cell # -- SIM card is SUPPOSED to still work).

Epi and I both are scheduled to be at the Central Park like Prog is. I also have a reservation at the Apartelle Royal above Camelot in case there are any issues or maybe I'll even use both rooms in case I have a slight polygamy problem like last time!

The tickets were sitting in our company's travel office. They wouldn't release them to me until I talked to our Travel Accounting people. That's were shit fell apart. Since the contract I was charging my trip was for the US Gov't I had to abide by the "Fly America Act". I went from a free fun-filled trip to the PI to flying America's worse airline ever (American Airlines). Case in point: As some of you may know I had just returned from 6 weeks in SE Asia. During that trip I was in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and another undisclosed country. I got to these places using various foreign airlines such as Philippine Airlines, Far Eastern Air Transport, SEAIR, Trans Asia Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and China Airlines. Not once did I have a problem with my bags. I flew AA twice – once from SAN to LAX then again from LAX to SAN, Those damn bastards managed to loose my bags each time! On the LAX to SAN flight it took two fucking days for those assholes to locate and deliver the bags to my home… How fucking incompetent can this company be? Now I have to trust them to get my bags all the way to Tokyo-Narita.

I've had several problems with checked luggage going to Asia (AA was the culprit once). The solution is to carry on only. A 21" roller w/clothes and personal bag stuffed with KY and condoms...hasn't failed me yet.

I plan to be in Pattaya the end of Feb and AC the beg. of March-- perhaps I'll meet up with several of ya then.

I wish I could do a carry-on only but I have too many tech documents, laptop computer, media (tapes) and computer parts, etc... My export girl gets a headache every time I travel! I'm going to keep the essentials in my backpack - computer, tooth brush, clean undies, etc..

What sucks is we shouldn't be having this conversation. The technology is available to ensure bags get to where they are supposed to go - it's the people that fuck it up.

I will be in PI January 20, 2004 to February 4, 2004. Will be staying at Central Park. Anyone going at that time want to hook up let me know. May even share a ride from the manila airport to AC and back. I booked a ride through the hotel.

I can carry on a conversation in Tagalog after just finishing my first semester in TagalogI but I am progressing much slower than my Thai. It helped having monks as private tutors 3 nights a week. The reality is that all the girls speak aweful English and only act like they know what your talking about. Much more English than Thailand but I still like to know what these Filipinas are saying to each other in the bars and whether my date is trying to pull some shit before I barfine her.

Monks....look for the closes Thai temple to your house...lessons are free.....Donations if you wish. I suggest buying a book called "Essential Thai" by James Higbie....it's the best.

I am pratically set for my first PI trip March 4th through March 15th. I also want to check out Baguio and Subic Bay.

If you want to check out Subic Bay then bring a girl with you and stay at Blue Rock Resort on the water....not bad scenery but nothing to write home about. The P4P scene in Subic Bay is aweful and nearly nonexistent. Baguio is beautiful but you should try flying there and bring a honeyko or just take a day to breath the mountain air. The most beautiful place in the Philippines is Boracay IMHO...you can fly out of CLark/Angeles for about $100 round trip and get there in an hour and a half. If you find a girl you like, this place is absolute paradise...white sand, clear blue water, great hotels. Nigi Nigi Nu Nus is pretty incredible and you might get the low season rate if you negotiate. Tons of neat little bungalow hotels there. There are freelancers there but the quality is pretty average to low.

Thanks for the input. Will probably take your advice and hit Baguio (by plane) and Subic with a honeyko. I wasn't planning on going to either of those places for P4P, mainly to do something touristy to give me an "excuse." Hopefully I can find a willing companion.

Blazers, have you been to Bohol? Can you compare it to with Boracay? I could care less about swimming in the ocean but I would like somewhere very low keyed just to lay back and enjoy the scenery. What about the north west coast above Subic Bay? I read a post from some guy who actually rented a car in AC and just starting driving north along the ocean until he got to the top of the island. That sounded a lot more fun than hassling with overcrowded buses and he claimed there wasn't much traffic on the roads.

Not Bohol...supposed to be beautiful....Isn't that the island with the chocolate mountains? I would like to go to Bicol area though as there is great surf in the region. I broke my board last time in La Union, so I am leery about breaking the new one I just purchased. I cancelled my Fiji trip as a result. It was between a laptop and a surfboard....stupid me chose the latter.
