As stated above-I have the La Paz fishing trip on those dates. Still undecided whether to blow off the trip or not. A couple of my best chums are getting married (god help them) so this may be the last epic trip with these friends. Otherwise, I am very flexible this summer. RW

I had my airfare booked and paid for, my vacation time approved and mountains of chocolate promised to Roselle if she could score me a room in the jasmine suites (she worked for that chocolate!!) for May 29-June 9. In the end a promotion came up and I had to cancel my trip to heaven.

Since this happened work promised me that 2-3 months out would be fine for a long vacation so I will be looking VERY close at Travelocity trying to book 2 weeks out in AC around Prog's b-day. I may even bring Carni (aka Mr. X) to the festivities!!

I'll post an update when my next vacation time gets "approved" and I book my NEXT flight. By then I'll have so much baby batter stored up that I'll end up just decorating their offices with it if the next vacation gets canceled!! I can see it now "Hmmm, looks like someone decorated my desk with tinsel and fresh elmers glue..."

The timing of promotions always seems to mess up travel plans. Back in January, a promotion meant 15 nights down to 6 nights in AC for me. Keep us posted when you re-book and I will try and overlap you. RW

I am staring right down the barrel of Prog's b-day celebration. Probably arrive on or about the first of August, stay for a week or so and then (money permitting) blast over to Pattaya for 3 or 4 days. This will let me test out a few different flavors of LBFM's.

If I've still got some baby batter left in my womb broom (along with vacation time) I may even spend a day or two in Cambodia. I could visit Angkor Wat and some of the other temples. Also, sight seeing will give me time to "recover" between my $3 ST sessions...

I found out I can get away right at the beginning of August (air fares drop and I can FINALLY take some of that vacation time!!). Looking at booking Aug 2 - 17. It's the PAL flight so it leaves at 10:00 pm LAX and arrives in MNL at 6:10 am 2 days later!! That means I can swing by Santos to relieve some "tension" before I check into Orchid...

No I haven't moved yet, nothing is simple with those guys. Maybe early June, maybe mid-June. Lets have a TJ party before I go!

X & Prog - Looked into going EARLIER then I planned. Flights are a lot more expensive, but it puts me in town when ALL the fun is happening!! New prospective dates are: July 19 - August 4th. Does that work with everyones schedule?

Goceltics - will you be able to make it? Beats the hell out of a boat filled with GUYS!! Think about it - millions of LBFM's at your fingertips for $20 a day - or fish. If all my fingers are going to smell like fish it will be because I've bought 10 different women lady drinks!!

Try LBC Mabuhay (800-241-1304). LBC is a courier company but also offers passenger flights to the Philippines. They were pretty darn reasonable.

Also, if convenient times are not important you might try Jupiter Air who are courier flights. Anywhere from $400-$450 last time I did it. Call JoJo at 650-635-1700.

Also, you might try going to the www.AC2.com site to ask some of the veterans of that board for suggestions but thru my experience I found these two sources the least expensive consistently.

Go - best price I could find for a standard flight was $1097 (tax included) on PAL. This was through my corporate travel site. I will check with those courier companies and let you know if I find out anything interesting.

Scoo - Looks like buying tickets for the MNL - BKK run is expensive on this side ($400-500!!). Hell, it runs an additional $120 just for a hop to Cebu!! May need to price this out once we arrive in MNL. I'm not against a trip to test drive all those brown girls, but I don't want to neuter my budget for a "soapy"!!

Prog - I put in my vacation request. I should know something within a week (hopefully less). The advantage of starting a different department is you don't need to dicker with others about vacation time - you have seniority!! As long as my possible backups are still in the office (neither have requested vacation during that time) I should get it. Remember though, this does not take into perspective the capricious nature of management...

X - TJ run sounds great!! One final fiesta grande at El Fracaso to see you off in style, eh? I'm wandering down most weekends just to visit with fellow mongers so you name the weekend day and I'll do what I can to work around your schedule.

Best rates now are with LBC Mabuhay, late July thru early August is $861. All the travel sites have it for $1070, my tix reflects the LBC $206 discount. Price starts to drop in August. Progman you should have been born in October!
I fly July 22 and return August 8.

I missed my cheap $700 China Air flight out of LAX. Check this out! I booked Northwest, one day advance purchase and flew business class 3 of 4 legs to and fro LAX/Manila for $1554. Best damn deal I could imagine. Just may have to try this strategy again...intentionally this time! LOL! RW

I am putting my unused China Airlines ticket to use. I will be arriving in AC on Thursday, July 18 and leaving on Wednesday, July 24. Short six night trip before fishing in La Paz the week of Prog's birthday. I apologize for not being there, but I have had this commitment for a long while.

Xkansan, I think I overlap you a day or two so if you go directly to AC when you arrive we can have a barhop or two. Now to start working on another AC trip in late August. Damn I luv this place. RW

Just had some "disturbing" news on the vacation front...

They may not let me go on vacation unless I can PROVE this project is up and running smoothly!! WTF is THAT all about?!?! Anyways, I will plant myself in someones office Monday trying to get this resolved. I do NOT want to put this off!! I should be there right now and I REFUSE to have another vacation that should be filled with fucking end with me getting fucked!!

That seems to happen everytime I go there, same as you, I guess. I've had several somewhat serious GF's there in the last seven trips there. My biz went into a recent slump but should pick up soon, so I should be aiming at a trip to both the PI and Thailand then if it does.

November seems to be the best for airfares, summer is over but the holidays haven't begun.
