05/05/20 Update: MyBB discussion forum works within frames and has been installed. You can view posts on the new forum without registering, but to post, you will need to register which is free and automated (you'll just need to click an email verification link).
05/04/20 Update: All the archived chat messages were in an outdated format that was blocking access. Newer developments were delayed as those thousands of messages were converted. Fortunately the conversion is complete.
05/03/20 Update: Turns out the SMF Forum does not allow logins from inside a frameset, so I'm reviewing options. For the time being, the link will open in a new window and you can login from there. If I switch to another forum solution, I'll transfer any posted messages.
05/02/20 Update: All Discus sections have been fixed. I installed the SMF board software (link removed) which will be the home for most, if not all of the discussion. Hopefully I'll be able to import most of the Discus messages into this new structure. There are also links for new Pwingo photo viewing tool and update log.
05/01/20 Update: The Trip Report and Asia sections have been fixed. Mexico is next. I added a new photo viewing tool and this update log this morning.
04/30/20 Update: I just installed a secure certificate and noticed it disabled navigation of the Discus message boards. Fixing it is easy but time consuming, but they'll be back gradually. I'll focus on the Trip Report section first.

05/11/20 Update: I added a custom built mini-search engine which should appear on the left menu the next time you log in if you hvaen't seen it already. It's a limited basic version which will be expanded on soon. Given the huge amount of information on the Discus board, I'm looking into a custom-built solution to allow adding to those messages before attempting to export everything into this new message board.

05/20/20 Update: Over the past few days I've made significant improvements to the new Discus search utility and have formulated some ideas to restore posting to the Discus section. I think I should have something in place within the next week.

Seems you cannot respond to the older reports on the original site. So that site is basically wiped out?

The situation on the Discus section is mentioned in the alert in the yellow box that appears on login, but there is an update unposted until now. I'm close to finishing a custom workaround that will allow posting again in that section. So far, it can successfully create new posts with or without images in existing pages, but I still need to convert every page (it only takes a few seconds per page, but there are thousands) and add the capability for the posts to update the time and post counts on parent pages. For example, the new script can currently add a new post in a chapter of a report, but I need to add the ability for the script to update the time and total number of posts for the parent, which shows the number of posts and most recent post time of that chapter. It will also need to update the parent of report, the full trip report list which shows the total posts and most recent for the entire report. Once the parent feature is added, I will finish the conversion and make it functional.

Once the new post feature is restored for existing topics, I'll still need to add the ability to create new topics/reports, but that process should go a lot quicker.

Glad to see some updates and the site is still active.

Messages from the MyBB board have been imported here. Turns out it would be less work to fix Discus than trying to import everything into a new message board system. As of this moment, Trip Reports as early as March 2018 have been converted to allow for posting and new trip reports can be posted. Parts of TJ reviews have also been converted. It's a slow process, but other Discus sections will be converted eventually. In the meantime, requests can be submitted to convert any particular thread.

Regarding clicking on the username, that would not work at the time of Esteban's post if clicking from the Discus section, but I managed to fix it today so it works now.
