We are preparing the final ballot for Best Reports of 2002. Selection was a long and difficult process for us. We will be presenting monthly contests immediately following the conclusion of the 2002 Annual Awards which should make 2003 a lot easier to coordinate.
We need photo nominations for best photo. We mainly would like the photographers themselves to submit their favorite personal photos, but we will also accept open nominations. There will be a limit of one entry per photographer, so final decision on multiple nominations will be up to the photographer.

Where do we submit the photo nominations? Just post them here?

Post here, via Inbox, or support@clubhombre.com

Does the contest include a prize for the most tasteless photo? (Just wondering)

Oh, what's the deadline? I'm going to submit several nominations.

Is there a way to just look at photos from 2002 so we can review them or are we supposed to just choose a photo from the ones we remember?
By Masterbates on Friday, March 21, 2003 - 11:37 pm: Edit
Advance411, confirming Adrianna 15? I can't seem to find it. Are you sure it's not LL, Cuba by the same author?

Too late now, but I just noticed the wrong picture was posted on day three of the Dynamic Duo report. where is says Yellow Bikini, a picture of Alecna pops up. It was supposed to be this enclosed photo of Adriana. This was the best shot of the trip. Know it won't qualify for 2002 awards but wanted to share with everyone anyways.
Enjoy....Sandman

Sandman,
Thy it this way:
When you go to preview the message, a small box will show up that says "image." Then when you post it, it will ask you for the location on your computer of the image. Just provide the location and it wil be uploaded.
Enjoy the life,
Moondog

Sandman, use the following:
\image(image name)
After the word image, instead of using ( ), use the other brackets, such as { }
Take a look at the documentation link on the left for more info.

Yellow Bikini was found and fixed, just let us know to support@clubhombre.com when you find report errors and we can usually fix them.
Photo dates are based on submission/posting date, not when the photo was taken. Any photos submitted this year will qualify for 2003 Awards and possibly monthly or quarterly awards once we decide what we want to do.
We'll include Yellow Bikini as Sandman's submission. We still need selections from other reporters, particularly DG who received a few nominations.
Murasaki provide a very nice photo review guide in the Chat areas.

Hombre-I really like the new "Ratings Game" section of the site. It is great feedback and sets a benchmark for rating girls in everyones opinion.
I do have a recommendation. It looks like a lot of Hombres are voting for their own photos and running up the scores. I recommend you block the photographer from voting on their own submissions (if that is possible).
I understand Photogs. pride in their submissions. Hell, I think I have the most submissions on the board at 481 photos. I just don't think the photographer should be voting on their own submissions. Yes, I voted on a couple of mine but quickly stopped when I saw how the dynamic was changing.
I'd rather give my fellow Hombres credit when deserved for their efforts and this is a very tough crowd. We who post should get feedback from our fellow Hombres, not pat ourselves on the back.
Just MHO on the subject. I'll bet this causes a little stir in the community but come on guys. I'd rather have feedback from my fellow mongers than run up the scores on my own submissions.
Again, I like this new addition. Let's just keep it in perspective.

Sandman, I thought the same thing and even gave my own recent photos top ratings. A 6,7 and 8.
Then I decided to see which pictures had the best ratings on pics submitted over the past few weeks-Moondog-at least when I checked. Your theory about effecting the results is true when
only a few people have had a chance to vote-like 5 or 6, but pics submitted a few weeks ago have
many more votes and I think one vote out of 50 or so is not going to skew the results. I do notice from the pics I recently posted that if you include them in your report, number one they are not protected from being copied, at least until admin moves them to pic gallery, which he does quickly and number 2, they don't look near as good in the gallery-reduced size and resolution-as they do when you include them in your report. Your pics are a very good example of this. There are many more prolific and better pictures than me here on CH, but I thought I would throw my 2 cents in anyway.
I hope that you and the other great pic posters- too numerous to mention plus I don't want to offend anyone that I might forget-keep up the great work.

Too funny Sandy.
By Murasaki on Wednesday, March 26, 2003 - 10:35 pm: Edit
Sandman, I agree. I haven't voted on any of my shots. It's up to others, though Costaricardo is right that they look much better in the report than in the gallery.
By Admin on Thursday, March 27, 2003 - 03:23 pm: Edit
Even 1 vote out of 10 would hardly skew results. For example, if 9 people voted 1 and 1 person voted 10, the average would only work out to 1.9 and that's an extreme example. In most cases a single vote might at most make a difference of a few tenths of a percentage points, and that advantage would disappear with more votes.
It's also possible that the page is being misunderstood. We do not show who voted for what photo. For example, where it might say "by Moondog" means it's Moondog's photo, not that he was the last one to vote on it.
Thanks for these and other suggestions.

The problem we are discussing (called the outlier problem in statistical circles) is not trivial at all.
Ummm, if you really want to be precise about it, you could calculate the median and mode (in addition to the mean), the standard deviation, and/or provide a frequency histogram. And these are some of the simplest approaches to outliers. ..

Many of you probably noticed we now have the ballot up, but here is another announcement for those of you that ignore the announcement box thinking they are advertisements (those are always CH related announcments) Deadline is 5/5/03 and $600 in awards are at stake.
As mentioned on the ballot, we've reduced the # of categories and doubled the award amounts. All award related categories are now content (report/photo) specific. We will try to re-implement some of the prior categories under a separate section, possibly a "Standout" awards or something like that.
Again, thanks to all of you purchasing memberships and providing reports and photos. It's been with your help that we've been able to provide such excellent content for adult travel information around the world.
