Keep your eye out for helpful posts, trip reports, and anything else you can think of for the First Annual Hombre Awards, 2001. I will be posting a variety of categories near the end of the year to take nominations for voting in January of 2002. Sample categories will include: Best Report, Funniest Post, MVH(Most Valuable Hombre), MVC(Most Valuable Chica), and a host of other serious and not so serious categories. A variety of cash and other prizes will be presented to the winners (except the chica, she already got all our money). If you're an Hombre Member, you may want to take a note when you see great posts by using the new "Notes" feature.

This will be lots of fun! Keep your eyes open!

Rules:

3. Voting by Hombres only (Hombre+ for Photo Categories) in January 2002.

Starting a bit late, but nominations are now open. Anyone except myself can be nominated for a category, but only Hombres and/or Hombre Plus members will be able to vote in January.

Post here to nominate fellow Hombres for the categories listed above. You can also suggest your own category, if I like it, I may include it in the voting and may or may not attach a cash prize to it. If lots of nominations come in, I will start organizing them by category.

Voting will take place sometime in January with winner announcements and prize disbursements taking place in January or February.

Also, a special thanks goes out to those that have upgraded their membership. I would like to thank all that have contributed to Clubhombre.

I'll take my best crack at this. One of my New Year's resolutions is to start paying attention to the non-TJ sections of this board, but since I didn't do that this year, I'll stay away from those categories. I also left out a couple others. Whenever possible, I tried to narrow it down to one individual, but there were a couple of instances where I just couldn't make up my mind.

Best overall report: "What a Long Strange Trip it's Been" by Billfromreading. He posted this a week ago and people are still talking about it. Enough said.

Best photo gallery: Aardvark's Frida/Smith gallery. Great photo techniques, and what eye candy!

Most creative hombre: Gotta give this one to Daytimer. He took the audio clip idea, ran with it, and provided a new dimension to the board. That defines "creativity".

Most informative hombre: This one was a real toughie. Kudos go to Athos for his excellent chica reports, and I almost went that way, but I'll give the nod here to two guys who, with little fanfare, consistently provide a wealth of info for this board: Hippie and Erip.

Most insightful hombre: Rick Feliz, for his unique and thought-provoking perspective on the Zona scene.

Most humorous hombre: Redongdo. That one's easy. He keeps us all on our toes. If he wins, I propose that he be awarded a gold-plated monkey on a surfboard.

Best humor piece: Mr. Bill's post from last summer about looking a things from the chica's perspective... I can't find it right now, but I'll look later and get the exact location and title. I read that thing through ten times at least... and laughed harder each time. Even more remarkable, I believe it was the first post he ever made on this site... correct me if I'm wrong.

Best handle: Senor Panocha. Still cracks me up.

Best thread: I may be tooting my own horn a little here, but I'll give the nod in this category to the "TJ Limericks" thread. Anyway, Ootie started the thread, so he would get the prize and full credit.

Most likely to marry a working girl: Who else but the board romantic, YoungBrig.

Don Juan of TJ: Milkman. Anyone who does as well as he does with NON-working girls is light years ahead of the rest of us.

Most Valuable Chica: Tanya AB. IMHO, an absolute no-brainer.

Most Valuable Hombre: Athos and Daytimer, for reasons stated earlier. StrikeEagle, for the numerous contributions he makes to this site on a regular basis. I simply can't make up my mind here.

Other categories that IMHO, might be worth considering:

-Best writer: Matiz would get my vote here.

-Best ongoing TJ story line: Have a few ideas in mind, need to think it over some more.

-Best poll: Ditto

-Rookie/newcomer of the year: Drewwho. Have to find a way to give accolades to a guy who can turn phrases like "parting the curtains at AB is like parting a swollen pair of labia" and "crossing Articulo 123 is like crossing the river Styx into Hades".

Main Prize Categories

Best Asia Report: Xen and d'Artagnan Thailand trip, very detailed, well written and entertaining. Now I have to go to LOS before I can take myself seriously or retire from hobby.

Best Overall Report: BillFromReading - TJ trip report, found myself reading the whole damn report in one shot over an hour. Excellent writing, was glued till the ending.

Best Single Photo: Frida AB inside bedroom, photographer Aardvark

Most Valuable Hombre (by vote): DayTimer. Always putting a positive spin on ZN.


Middle Prize Categories

Most Informative Hombre: Erip, always giving new updates on Rev action and ZN. Clearly explaining his thoughts on any subject.

Most Humorous Hombre: Redongdo or like some chicas like to call him: "loco hombre", "motherfucker".


Booby Prize Categories(???)


Most likely to overpay: HornyMike for always complaining about hombres paying $60 for short time.

Most likely to marry a working girl: Specific, hombre has been looking for love for how long now? Every dog has its day.

Don Juan of TJ: Milkman for never paying for sex it seems. Honorable mention to Sakebomb and Blazers for always getting the job done.

MVC - Most Valuable Chica: Tie Sylvia AB; Michele CC; Smith AB for grabbing all the tourist money.

I have to admit that the photo you mention is my favorite. She was/is a true sweetheart! So much a sweetheart that her friend, Alexia, ditched Sakebomb for me once she recognized who I was and dragged me upstairs. LOL

This is good, but I have a suggestion.

You might want to have nominations for areas or regions. For example:

South America
Thailand
Philppines
TJ
Nogales
Juares,
etc.

That way the folks that support places other than TJ with postings, trip reports and the like can get recognized.

At one time I was able to read every post of every thread on Redsnake and then on this board. But now for most of this year, I haven't been able to do it, except for the last two weeks. So in all good conscience, I feel that I must disqualify myself from the voting, because to do so would be like voting for the Oscar Awards without having seen many of the films.

There are so many great contributors to this site who will go nameless, but I would like to specifically commend Athos for his relentless pursuit of increasing his TJ chica count AND unselfishly giving the detailed summary information back to this board. No one else even comes close in that regard.

TJHombre, by the rare chance that I'm fortunate enough to win something, please use the money to upgrade my membership to the next level, whatever that might be. If it's not enough for any upgrade, then I want you specifically to have a few cold ones on me (as long as you loudly toast me each time). Because as far as I'm concerned, you are the most valuable monger, contributor, and hombre considering all that you do to maintain this site as one of the finest that I'm aware of in any category on the entire Internet.

A suggestion on a new category:

Rookie of the Year - an hombre who first posted to this board (Redsnake included) in 2001. My nominations: Sakebomb, Milkman

Some updates:

All 2001 reports will be listed on the voting form, but this area will still be good to discuss or nominate reports. If a report is mentioned here, I'll identify it.

Middle and Booby-prize categories will be scratched since they deal almost exclusively with TJ. Hombres may take it upon themselves to have fun with them in the Mexico Discussion Area.

Main prize winners will receive $50. The same handle may win both a destination report category as well as overall report for a total of $100. Total awarded across all categories will be $500.

Best Other report refers to reports for locations outside Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

Due to my lateness in getting this ready, submission of reports and photographs for 2001 will be accepted until January 7th. Voting will take place later in January or early February.

I will resummarize all of this shortly in a separate section.

Another small change, the number of reports is way too high, so only nominated reports will appear. Also, specific reports MUST be nominated, "all reports by handle" will not be accepted.

It's almost time. Deadline for submission of reports and/or photos has been extended to close of January 7, 2002. Deadline for nominations has been extended to close of January 15, 2002. Everyone except "Hombre" is eligible for prizes, but only those with Hombre status will be able to vote (Hombre Plus for the three photo categories). Best Photos MitchC with P series, this series of photos single handedly has convinced me that I must broaden my horizons. (Or is it my hand wishes that broad was on my horizon?) Whatever, well done photos of a very beautiful subject.

I have to agree with billfromreading...mitchc pics in general seem to be better. nothing against fatman but the difference in quality from CR are night and day. Athos may have had the better looking ladies and I am heading to Rio because of them, but lightning was not there.

My vote for most valuable hombre goes to milkman - because he has met and shown-around so many hombres - and because he gives so freely of himself and his time.
