I did a big cleanup and reorganization of the suggestion box last night.

Over the next couple months, we have some major developments including a server move along with lots of data population and tweaking of our new Venues feature. In addition, we have a lot of new stuff coming that is unannounced. Consequently, any suggestions will likely need to be put on hold until that is complete unless they are fairly simple to implement and useful.

Any suggestions we are currently working on will appear in a topic above followed by the word "Pending" except for quick changes which will go straight to the Completed folder.

VENUES has gotta die!

rehashing old posts just clutters up the search and three days later the nonsense is gone.

Guys that know there way around this board do not want to see recent dates for long dead threads on a higher level menu.

Newbies will just be confused.

I agree about the clutter. Perhaps there could be a separate thread for each of the reviewed venues under a separate "Venues" section. The original threads remain, new sections contain just the "venues" information.

Also, is Hombre going to go through each new TR and post the venues mentioned, so that the "venues" remain fresh and up-to-date?

What I am hoping for is that Hombre will go through the postings that can be accessed from Treeview, and incorporate those into Venues. I suspect he is going to do this, but it seems he is now focusing on trip reports rather than posts that can be found through treeview about specific massage parlors, go-gos, and so forth.

Note, these few messages will soon be relocated to a closed request.

Regarding the clutter on a new post search, as already mentioned it's only for a few days. Also, the reason you might see a new post on an old topic is because the first link to the Venues utility is being generated there. Subsequent updates from older posts are added by editing so it doesn't show as a new post. New posts will only show up for updates from newer reports that are more than a month or two newer than the last update. To use an example, there was a mass update of Venues updates for Angeles City because there was a newer Blazers report that updated a lot of the venues, but you won't see another update from Venues for those topics for at least another month because the post would only be edited to add new information.

So yes, new reports are also processed into venues, but probably not for a month or so after being posted. I still have a lot of older reports to process to expand the Venues data.

Laguy, you are correct, I will also be adding the Venues that only appear in Treeview/Discus topics, but am currently focusing on TripReports. A lot more of these will be added as I get through more older reports.

Now for the important question...why?

Venues is a major advance in the ease of finding information on CH. For example, compare the following situation for CH verses any other similar discussion forum. Also, please keep in mind there is still a lot of data to add, so the numbers provided will increase a lot as more info is processed.

The situation is you want to find information for Dirty Duck in Angeles City.

On CH, you can click on Venues to the left, then click the "Angeles City" quicklink at the top. In the list that appears, you'll see that Dirty Duck was formerly Dolphin Bar, and is a Go-Go Bar located at 149 Fields Avenue. (Once someone helps me pinpoint the exact location, there will also be a clickable map link after the address, try clicking on the map link for Crystal Palace) You can also see that it was confirmed open by one of our reporters as of December 2011. Next click on the "Details" link.

You'll now see additional general information (more fields to be added later) such as website, phone number, days/hours, cover charge, etc... Scroll down and you'll see that 12 trip reports (so far) contain additional information on Dirty Duck, 117 pictures (so far) have been posted of Dirty Duck women, and 14 CH members (so far) have experience at Dirty Duck. Now click "Click here for the topic on ClubHombre".

Now you see the discussion area for Dirty Duck that has a lot of specific observations and information from other reporters as well. You'll also again see links to other reports that contain Dirty Duck information.

To put in succinctly, you can find that Dirty Duck is mentioned in 12 reports, has 117 photos, was visited by 14 reporters, and information such as address, hours, and more in less than 1 minute. Try finding similar information on other sites and see how long it takes.

I really like the venues now that its intentions have been explained and I actually looked at it
