Starting this month (July 2003), we will be accepting nominations for Best Photo and Best Report for each month. Feel free to post nominations for photos and reports here as they come out so you don't forget.

Prizes will be $20 or a 3 month upgrade or upgrade extension to be chosen by the two winners. A maximum of one entry per member is allowed in each category.

Good luck and get those photos and reports in for July!

Guide to Tijuana is a trip report? Its very good but a trip report....hmmmmm.

We've always treated guides as a form of trip report. In fact, Bwana Dik's Rio Guide was a 2002 winner. Most guides are also in the trip report section with the exception of a few placed under the country section by request or by the reporters themselves. You will also notice your guides come up in the listing when searching for your trip reports.

I have 4 guides but no nominations? Including one recently...hmmm. I get it.

If you look at our Awards Headlines page (click here), you can confirm that we didn't really get our awards programs into gear until July 2003 (actually only this month that we got the information and procedures standardized and easy to process). As you should know, we have a one report/month nomination rule (two reasons, to keep nominations down, but more so to not split a reporter's votes as has happened in the past). In July 2003, a report of yours was nominated but your guide was not. Had it received a nomination or had you requested the change, we would have place the guide in the listing rather than the report. Your report went on to tie for first place for July and runner-up for 3rd Quarter Eastern, so that was probably a good thing. December nominations, for which your most recent guide qualifies, will not take place until January.

We have not gotten around to it yet, but we will be moving your most recent guide to the trip reports section and leaving a link from the PI section which has been our standard procedure(unless you request otherwise). We do this to replace reports/guides in a location where they are more easily seen by the entire board population rather than a specific group (e.g. World vs PI Hombres).

Deadline for November 2003 voting is Tuesday. Don't forget to vote!
