Not sure if this has been brought up before, but it would be awesome if directories could be sorted by last date edited. For example, this directory:

ClubHombre.com: Central America: Costa Rica: Advice/Questions/Commentary

was updated sometime today, but it's so hard to find recent posts when drilling through the folders that I usually give up!

I know about the 1 day and 3 day searches, but I like to browse through topics of general interest and see what has come around recently. It would really be cool if these directories and subdirectories could be sorted.

Thanks,

LM

Unfortunately, the Discus software that powers this section of the site writes static files that makes this option unavailable. Sorting would require the data on the page be stored separate from the page itself so that the sorted page could be generated dynamically depending on the viewer's needs. The galleries, trip report engine, and calendar are examples of this kind of dyanamic page generation.

We've thought about adding or replacing our message boards with a dynamic type, but most dynamic boards do not offer the same kind of subcategorization capabilities, plus there are the challenges of transferring over 100,000 messages or adding a third message board.

For now, the best way to do what you want in Discus is to do a "Discus Search" with the "Recent Posts" option checked and set to whatever date range you want, also limit the "Search topic" to "Central America". You would get more than just Costa Rica, but it would be a much smaller than a date range search for the whole site.

Thanks for the explanation.
