I presently am using Skype and Vonage for my phone calls, including those I make from overseas. I just heard about a service that looks like a (cheaper) Vonage competitor--"Phone Power"--and am thinking about giving up my Vonage account for a Phone Power account. However, I have no information about the reliability or quality of Phone Power and wonder whether anyone has any experience (or information) about the company and its phone service.
Also, has anyone tried to switch their phone number to a Phone Power account; if so how did that go?

I switched from Vonage to Broadvoice because they have unlimited to Brazil. It took about a month but Vonage moved the number over. I think there is a law so it is mandatory.

Vonage World also has unlimited free calls to Brazilian landlines. The problem is the quality. Landline calls work well but often cellular calls do not go through or the party on the other end cannot hear you. I recently got a digital adapter so am going to give it a try.
Very much welcome a discussion of what has worked well for others.

The Broadvoice is also unlimited to landlines but not cell phones in Brasil.

I am getting poor connections to the Philippines--when the calls even go through--on Vonage (using a wired handset), Skype (speaker/mic on my computer), and Yahoo Voice (ditto computer). It's hard to understand what she's saying. OTOH, I had pretty good luck from Medellin with Skype to my iPhone, good clear connections. And using the iPhone from here with wifi to my computer also gave a decent connection.
