Summer Travel?

Hey everyone I could really use some advice here. I want to travel over the July 4th weekend (giving me 9 days of vacation time including the 2 weekends) and was thinking of the Philippines, Thailand, or Brazil (note that I live in Los Angeles). I've been to Thailand 3 times already (last June was my last trip), Brazil twice (last trip last month) but never been to the Philippines. Normally I'd choose the P.I. but for some reason airplane tickets cost over $1,000 - 1,200!!!(It's the most expensive out of the 3) Is that really worth it? Should I wait to see if prices fall, or move my trip to the end of the year when I have 2 weeks of vacation? I'd hate to wait almost a year for my next trip though, maybe I should just head down to Rio??? Decisions decisions any advice would be much appreciated!!!

P.S. Tickets to Thailand were $900 and to Brazil in the low $800's. Why are the flights so damn expensive, I thought it was off season for those places???

Yes, off season there. But, the summer is peak season for Americans traveling. I also live in SoCal and have yet to convince myself to leave summer here to go to Brasil in their winter. But, it looks like I am heading there for "Winter Break". As it has been said before, the weather is always good inside a terma.

High summer season ends mid to end of August. I was in BKK last August shopping for a ticket to NYC, to leave August 13th, and found if I could wait until the 16th or later IŽd save $150. Oh well.
For SA it should be around Sept 1.

Sounds like maybe I should wait until after summertime...

Brazil will be having their winter season, hence off season. I would presume that from where you are (city/state) to P.I there are very few flights if any - and you'll probably have to make one or two stops to the final destination.

Actually there are a few flights with at least one stop to the PI. I did a little cost analysis and when you count in the flight, hotel, and girls the PI is still cheaper, even the the flight is $400 more expensive (savings are in the cost of girls) so maybe I'll go after all. Plus isn't it off season for Brazil, Thailand and PI during that time?
