Having recently returned from a very long trip to Asia & Australia, I thought I would post a cost breakdown in order to give others considering their own “big” trip an idea of what it may cost. I keep track of my expenses when I travel. Combined with my credit card statements, these numbers are extremely accurate.
I was on the road for 84 days. Before my departure, I sat down and hashed out a rough budget. I was able to use data from my previous trips as a good gauge of what my costs would be for various countries, combined with ticket quotes I was getting off the web and from my local bucket shop.
When the dust had cleared, I figured I’d be spending about $13,000 for the three months on the road, all inclusive. Mind you, this money was for trip costs only. They do not include my monthly obligations back home, such as rent, phone, power, etc.
To my amazement, I came in $400 under budget. Here’s the cost breakdown.
Airfare (22 flights between 10 countries): $2885.81
Mongering: $2880.13
Everything else: $6845.52
Total: $12,611.46
This breaks down to roughly $4200 a month. Mind you, I was doing a lot of country hopping. Should someone be planning to spend several months in just one or two countries, I’m sure their roughly average would be lower.
With the exception of Macau, I stayed in fairly cheap hotels along the way, averaging $25-30 per night. I also had 12 nights of free accommodation, which also certainly helped out on the costs. If it weren’t for that, I would have been much closer to the $13,000 initial budget as a final figure.
Of course the key question is just how much mongering that $2880 got me. I’ll throw out some key stats to give you an idea.
Total short-time sessions were: 40
Total long-time sessions were: 13
Total blowjob sessions were: 6
Total handjob sessions were: 4
Total sessions: 63
Total pops: 94
Mongering days: 42
This can be looked at in several ways. I mongered 42 days out of an 84 day trip. Dividing $2880 by 42 equals a daily mongering cost of $68.
Or you can look at it by total number of pops, since I got multiple pops in many sessions. $2880 divided by 94 equals $30 a pop for the trip.
Or you can look at it by session. $2880 divided by 63 equals $45 per session for the trip.
One thing to remember is that these figures are all-inclusive to cover all mongering costs. These are not just what was paid to the girl or house of ill-repute. My mongering costs include all payments or tips to girls; payments to the brothel or massage parlor; barfines; drinks, and ladydrinks. Some people may consider the drinks to be a different category, but I consider drinks to be a cost of mongering, since if I wasn’t mongering, I wouldn’t be paying the inflated prices that are charged in those venues for the drinks.

thats some serious accounting...
I have no idea how many pops I've had over the last several months, but I spent roughly the same cash.

Mongering: $2880.13
13 cents? Did somebody get a 100 rupiah tip somewhere along the way, or something?
Interesting breakdown. My budgets when I travel are pretty strict and I try and break things down for a daily budget in each location. The thing that fucks me up many times is that I often forget to factor in ground transportation and/or departure fees/taxes into the daily budget on travel days. 25-30 bucks extra on travel days should mean one less girl per day on those occasions, but when heading to a new destination, the first day actually often means OVERdoing things, which often puts me in a bit of a hole. I haven't QUITE completely run out of money on a trip yet, but I've been close a few times. I wouldn't advise those reading to try anc cut things that close!

I'm heading to Thailand in 3 days for two weeks, one tip I have is to check out interesting routings and new airlines. A flight from ZA to BKK on our national carrier SAA works out about US$1500.00 flying with eithad through the UAE worked out less then US$800.00 and I get a free stop over in Dubai with its 80 000 east European working girls, yum.
Also as a monger, without kids or commitments travel out of season can have major advantages, not only in cost but in places being less crowded and a better girl to monger ratio.
By the way I budget US$2000.00 for two weeks of Mongering that’s about BHT5500.00 per day for girls and I usually come home with some change and more then a few great memories.

Murasaki:
Did you by any chance do a "per stroke" cost analysis. Such an analysis can be extremely informative, see LAguy's Mini Casa Trip Report: R$1/2 per minute.

I must be a Cheap Charlie. Inspired by Murasaki's analysis, I did a few calculations on my recent trip to Pattaya/BKK. Final numbers: avg. of $31.89 per session and $20.63 per pop. In the immortal words of a Thai street vendor, "Cheap gahdamn!"

Regarding airfare - Curious did you pay for all your flights or use miles for some segments?

Mura, amazing how you can remember that much detail, I'm truly looking forward to your report. I would imagine a trip that long would require a few days of no-mongering to recuperate... did you get into a period of mongering fatigue at all. In Macau, I'd be curious if the mongering costs there skewed things a bit up.
BD: your street vendor comment reminds me of my HK who says to me, "missed you GahdDamn it"

Merlin,
This one guy had all kinds of crap he was pushing. His line went like this: "You buy t-shirt? 150 baht cheap gahdamn. You buy CD? 100 baht cheap gahdamn. You want Rolex? 600 baht cheap gahdamn."
"Cheap gahdamn" became the theme phrase for the trip.

Straightedge, I paid for all flights. I have no miles built up anywhere.
Merlin, I did suffer mongering fatigue, or as I call it, "All Fucked Out." When I hit Macau and AC, I had fatigue big time, not to mention that I wasn't feeling too well in Macau. That kept my numbers down in both places, but that turned out to be a good thing from a budget perspective. I caught my second wind in Jakarta and was able to plough many new fields, despite an unwanted visitor who joined me in AC.

HappyM -
Way to go...you actually rented a bike to get around? Ingeniously simple.
Though I could afford to spend more money on luxury when mongering, I try to set a budget and stick to it. This way I can stay longer.
The biggest money saver is to stay at a cheaper hotel. Since I usually monger in Panama...I've found several good, yet cheap, hotels. Too often I read threads from guys who stay at name brand hotels at a cost of $100 or more per night...and all they really get in return is carpeting and a mint on their pillow.
Also, I discovered that when I do stay at a more expensive hotel...chicas typically try to "milk" more money from me because they think I can afford it. But, when I stay at a $25/night hotel I can usually negotiate a fair price for the night and they don't try to milk me for more.
Good job HappyM!
