Thailand vs. Phillipines

I thought this would make a interesting discussion for those who travel. Any one care to weigh in?

Well, I've lived and traveled in both, sometimes visiting both on the same trip.

Usually when I am in Bangkok, I wish I were in Manila, and when I am Manila, I wish I were in Bangkok. The grass is always greener in the other country.

I speak Thai, and enough Tagalog to get by, so language is not much of a problem. I guess that the easiest way to compare the two is that Thailand offers you totally guilt-free mongering with a bunch of womens who really seem to enjoy sex and the bar scene. It can sometimes seem a bit aloof, though. The Philippines offer you some incredibly friendly girls who, with little prompting, will offer you the closest thing to GF sex you ever had.

For me, it usually boiled down to what I wanted:

If I wanted a week's worth of strange sex, with different girls each day, then I gravitate towards Thailand. If I wanted to hook up with a sweetie for a week, I'd head the the Philippines.

Now that I am old and broke, I head for Nogales.

Diabetic is right on the money. Both places well worth visiting.

In the Philippines, everything is in english though. I like that. The Government is also much more pro-American in The Philippines as well as the people.

Basically, I much prefer Thailand over the Ph. The girls in Thailand have no limits if the chemistry is right, whilst the Catholic Ph girls giggle and behave like your ordinary girlfriend home, whilst at it.

Thailand is king, and so is the King of Thailand.

And some free advise:
In Bangkok, Phantip Plaza is still the best place to get your copy CD's for little money (top floor, Goofy Games & Software or many others), and Nana Plaza is still the best place to get a girl who is into wild things. I have been to Thailand for at least 15 years, and at least 40 times, and it never really changes...

I've heard that old Siagon (Vietnam) is making a strong comeback. Of!Course this is hearsy from fellow travellers, and not personally confirmed.

i live in vietnam, but come to thailand if i feel like having a weekend...i think that says it all...
there are a few bars in saigon, with mixed looking staff, no dancing though,,, APOCALYPSE NOW, famous freelancer hook up joint is deserted due to police crackdown.
believe me , you don't want to travel to vietnam, if it's for sex.

Long time Thai trvlr , yet to see PI though
have heard from a few that have. Consensus is
that it's a bit more raw as well maybe poverty
stricken , which is reason for more crime.
For this reason I seem to stick with what I
know and favor. Believe THailand as well pro
american though not to the extreme as PI .
Seemingly because of them being more proud and
comfortably independent in there culture and way
of life. In 15 yrs of trvl have never believed
myself threatened nor have thought I must avoid
any area or watch my back. It's all good!

Sounds like good info. I will be traveling to Thailand in early January for some fun (first timer) any suggestions, recommendation, do's or don'ts.
