www.ikobo.com looks very good for ongoing sponsorships because the girl gets a pre-paid VISA card to withdraw from most ATMs and I can reload it for $8 service fee.

Western Union fees seem crazy in comparison and the service is far less convienient than ATM.

Now a little about how IKOBO works. If you have the girls complete address and contact information, then you can provide the recipient information from your own account. However, I took a different approach that revealed a lot about her financial skills.

I walked her step by step through the IKOBO account setup via internet. She logged onto IKOBO and completed everything up the point where you select somebody to send money to, then logged out.

Prior to that, I had setup my own IKOBO account in the same way. After she was setup, I logged into my IKOBO account, went to the send money page and entered the email address that she used when setting up her account. IKOBO showed me ALL OF HER personal information, name, address, phone, etcetera so I could verify that this was the correct recipient. That was the ONE AND ONLY time that IKOBO revealed that information, so make damned sure that you take a "ALT-PRINT-SCREEN" snapshot of it. I failed to do this and was never able to access it again but could try to do it from a sham account.

The initial money transfer cost me US $12 to issue & ship the pre-paid visa card, US $6 for the first money load and US $50 was my chosen amount for the initial gift to her. It takes about 10 days from the time that the card is ordered until it is in her hands. Subsequent money transfers cost 5% for bank transfer or 8% for credit card. That money should be available to her within a few hours. Sadly, my web cam honey shattered my hopes even before the IKOBO card arrived, so there was no second gift.

Once she had the IKOBO card, activating it required an international phone call to the USA or a toll free phone call within the USA. Since she "did not have a phone" (does anybody believe that?), I decided to be a nice guy and do the activation for her even though she already had one foot in my dog house. She had to send me the 16 digit credit card number and the phone number that she used to setup the account in order to satisfy the automated activation process.
