For the technology challenged, that means internet and picture messages.
If you ever pick up a foreign SIM card it is usually a big pain calling customer service to get the settings to make GPRS and MMS work. So this is a pretty cool web site to solve that problem.
http://www.phoneontherun.com/carriers_en.php
It also impresses the hell out of the ladies when they have phones they stole from the last guys that all work fine with their SIM's. Except, MMS never worked for them and you are magically able to fix their phones so they can now send picture messages back and forth to their friends in the bar.

For the truly technochallenged, can you explain what you do with these settings to enable your phone to use the internet or send pictures?

Somewhere in your phone's settings there will be a place for those. It varies from phone to phone but muck around all your settings and internet menus and it will be in there somewhere.

The website says "This way you can use your device to connect to the Internet and send and receive multimedia messages (you need a navigation plan with your carrier in order to do this)"
I have always assumed that sending and receiving multimedia messages (navigation plan) was not included with the pre-pay SIMs from OneToCall in Thailand and Smart in the Philipines.
Are you saying that these features can be activated by adjusting the settings in my phone? Is that true of Internet access as well?
What is the charge for using these features? I don't recall seeing it on the info sheets that cam with the SIMs.
Sorry, I guess I fit your definition of tecnically challenged but thanks for the posting the site.

In PI Globe "Tatoo" SIM's work with GPRS internet and cost 20 Piso an hour for internet access. I think they may even have 3G now in allot of areas. This is the only foreign SIM I have first hand knowledge about. It would be reasonable to assume Smart and most foreign providers have similar products but I do not know the particulars on any others.
