Not planning to, exactly, but definitely considering Moscow and/or St. Petersberg in the next year or two.

Some of the larger hotels have chicas working in the lobby bars, the average price for short time (1 hour or so) is $100 US. This may seem high compared to TJ, but the girls are all 9s and 10s, lots of high school cheerleader types and eager to please.

I have never been rushed or scammed in those situations - note that the action takes place in your own hotel room, which makes things more comfortable. I gather that the action is controlled by the local mafia, which adds quality control.

I was in Moscow in August 2000, stayed at the Moskwa Hotel, no girls hanging around in the lobby, but when I returned to my room, soon after, I got a phone call, asking if I'd like to have a girl, 5 to 10 minutes later, a nice blonde girl in her 20ies showed up, good body; we settled at about 60$ for a bit of fun (w/condom), it lasted about 40 minutes. I didn't get a phone call every evening, maybe they were too busy... I didn't visit the nightclubs, since I was tired from daytime activity. Walking around the streets even when it's dark seemed pretty save, at least in the centre of the city. There's much more action besides the 'hotel girls' but I didn't stay long enough to find out.

I'm thinking about staying at the Moscow Hotel for a day or two on my next trip to Moscow, it has a good location. I don't know about the quality of the rooms, but I think they go for about $60 a night.

Allegedly, the area around the hotel is swarming with chicas.

If you really want to "choose" rather than wait for a puta to come to you, a good source would be the discoteques..

I'm thinking about a trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg the first week in May. Found a good fare with good flights, but hotels are outrageous. Also it seems from my web research that hotel security is draconian. Clubs like Night Flight seem like great places to hook up, but I'm worried about picking the wrong hotel. I don't want to be ripped off too much. Any suggestions?

Two different issues.

If you want a good affordable hotel, stay in the Cosmos, convenient to the Metro, and a host of nice girls in the lobby bars for room service at $100 an hour. You can book the Cosmos off the Internet at $65 a night, which includes a fairly amazing breakfast.

Downtown hotels are another issue, most are extremely expensive, and security will NOT let you take girls to your room.

I have yet to find a hotel that will in Moscow. Most 'experts' on the scene have their own apartments and can't offer any advice on this subject.

Just booked my flight May 1 - May 8 with the weekend in St. Petersburg. I think I've got a line on a good apartment provider for Moscow. If things work out, I'll post contacts, info, and rates.

I'm planning on a first-time trip to Moscow in late August/early September. I've read that the Western owned and expensive hotels near the Kremlin (e.g. the Marriotts and the National) let you bring in women at all hours with no hassles from security. Front door security in Russian owned hotels will not allow you to bring in women.

Did the Cosmos let you bring women in without any hassles or pay-offs to security? Is this the Cosmos with a casino and is located on Prospekt Mira (metro VDNKh)? Did it have one of those infamous female hotel attendants (dezhurnaya) on each floor? A guidebook, "Moscow Guide," describes the Cosmos as a "behemoth" with 1777 rooms full of tourists on package tours but also mentions that "prostitutes abound."

I was thinking of staying at one of the Marriotts for location (near or close to tourist sights but also the street action) and the no-hassle, but the Cosmos will save over $100/night. Fortunately, I have many months to get more information before I have to make a decision.

Leaving aside the action at clubs like Nite Flight, Chesterfields, etc. (the Safari place sounds like a lotta fun), I've also read that near the Kremlin and along Tverskaya there are is a lot of organized Russian Mafia-run street prostitution with women going for $100 ($40/woman + $40/Mafia + $20/police) or $50 (primarily, non-Muscovites) for all nighters. Those prices make the 1 hour $100 women at the Cosmos quite pricey.

Answers:

I am told that you can get girls into the National, with no problem - but its $300 a night, great location. I don't know about the Marriott.

You CANNOT bring outside girls into the Cosmos Hotel, there's too much security, and the hotel makes too much from the girls in the lobby bars to along take-in from outside.

The Cosmos *is* enormous, but not a typical Russian hotel. It was designed by the French. but seems more like a German or Swiss hotel. No, there is no attendant for each floor, but the staff is quite efficient.

Concerning street action, I intentionally made a pass through some of the areas that are supposed to be swarming with girls, and saw none (except for the road from the airport). Nada on Red Square, Tverskaya, etc.

In fact, I've made lots of passes at night in these areas without intentionally looking for working girls, but never noticed anything.

This is not to say that there aren't lots of girls around, just not working girls. If you could imagine the population of TJ, minus the babies, minus the old people, and with the chicas taller, blonder, better dressed, skinnier, and poorer (!), that would be Moscow. Don't be surprised to see gorgeous single women on the Metro drinking a liter of beer all by themselves.

Last note: Night Flight is *really* expensive, you might try the ranches in Nevada, they could be cheaper, although the sex won't be as good. Night Flight is for tourists, the Safari Lodge and the like are for serious mongers.

If I go, I'll proably use gotorussia.net for my visa. And use MoscowAfterDark for a night or two to get the local's angle of the monger scene and the do's and don'ts. I think he charges $95/night, but he pays for his own drinks, taxis, etc.

I use the HotelsRussia site for reservations for the Cosmos. It works great. In fact, it saves a huge amount of time at check-in.

BTW, I believe that the image on the MoscowAfterDark site is of the Safari Lodge.

I'm planning a trip in September and have done a ton of research, but still a little concerned. I speak no Russian at all. Would this cause a problem getting around the town? I'll share some links and many have e-mail. I hope to find apartment to rent, any suggestions? The rates I have seen quoted for clubs are outrageous for what I have found. my recent business trip to moscow opened my eyes. It was my first eastern european trip and i didn't know what to expect. A $5 tip to the bell hop generated invaluable info . I am an American who has traveled to Moscow a few times on business. Before my first trip I knew nothing about the women or activities available, but I was warned not to venure out at night alone as the criminal element ruled the streets at night.

It turns out the warning about traveling at night was probably over-cautious, but it was also not necessary to go out to find some company.

I stayed at Hotel Intourist. The hotels there are grand, but the rooms themselves are very spartan. Each hotel has a number of bars and, in fact, Intourist has one on every floor although not all are open all the time. But each one has a number of working girls.

My first night I went to the main bar out of boredom. Small bar, little fireplace, and perhaps six tables. There were a half dozen women between 20 and 30 that were all 7's to 9's. It took about 30 seconds for one of girls to ask me to buy her a drink.

Her name was Tanya, she was 26 and gorgeous. She also spoke passable English. She was also very direct and she accompanied me to my room within 15 minutes.

Sex was great but she wouldn't do oral. Cost me $150. The next night I took more time, talked to several girls, and they actually "competed" for me. They weren't shy about propositioning me while I was talking to another. The second night I spent a couple of hours with Nadia, who did everything for $100.

All in all it was a great experience although expensive compared to Mexico. I don't know how it compares to Europe. I learned that the girls are "registered" with security at the hotel and she pays them a share of her fee. They won't let the girl leave the building. It was expensive, but Russia ain't cheap and some of the girls were gorgeous, not the beat-down druggie type.

a) Russia IS cheap, although Moscow is not quite as cheap as other places in Russia.

b) The Intourist hotel no longer exists.

The lesson is if you look for girls within 200 yards of Red Square, they are more expensive than if you travel, say, 10 miles from Red Square.

I lived in Moscow for 6 months when I worked in Tech.

There are a lot of hot girls in Russia but a word of caution. If there is any hint that you like them, they will do everything in their power to get you to take them back to the US.
