I just got an email from the Viking Resort on DR, saying that it had to discontinue operations on DR because of change in the legal treatment of "adult entertainment" business as a result of political pressure from U.S. Any recent news on changes in DR laws on this issue?

There have been some crackdowns in Asia, too. My bet is that it has to do with Ashcroft.

As for all-inclusive packages, they tend to be grossly overpriced, especially for one who belongs to a site such as this where most, if not more, information and resources are readily available.

I have no further information on the Dominican Republic.

Hello. RT here. As of Wednesday night, 20 July, 2003, things were as usual in Sosua.

The Sexy Lady bar opened last week. The owner (I forget his name) told me that he got pressure to NOT have the girls in bikinis (the bar is an outside establishment). I got the impression that this was more a request of the local tourism people than an organized anti-monger effort.

This were as ever in the High Caribe disco.

Please ignore my earlier post re Viking's Resort - I misread my email - it was from Fantasy Resorts 2000, in Costa Rica, NOT Dominican Republic - Looks like Vikings is alive & well, & change in political climate is in Costa Rica.

Current exchange rate from Dominican Peso to American dollar is about 34 to 1. That's more than twice what some people recorded in trip reports less than a year ago, with the difference benefitting American travelers going to DR. Am I doing something wrong at XE.com, or is this a major boon to mongers, or have mongering and hotelling prices risen to accomodate this change? Anyone in DR can comment on current prices / equivalents to USA $? Thanks, I'm planning a trip to DR soon I hope.

DR enthusiasts,

I am planning to visit the Puerto Plata/Sosua area for the first time later this month and I have a few questions:

1) How often does AA offer NetSAAvers from New York to POP?

2) I plan in staying in POP and Sosua, but I also want to check out the scene in Cabarete. In order to sample the action in Cabarete is it necessary to stay there or can I just taxi over from the other towns?

3) While I have read a lot about this subject, I would like to hear from those who have been there very recently what are the average or standard prices for "action" in this area of DR?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Prof.

By Don Marco on Sunday, September 05, 2004 - 12:01 pm:  Edit

I see netsaver fares all the time to SD, but usually you can find fares lower than netsaver by checking travelocity. Right now there's a 143 fare outa JFK into POP. If only I wasn't hooked on asia.

hey guys I think dr could be one of the biggest bang for your buck destinations in the world right now...somebody post on what is really going on down there...keep the topic on inflation and "amatuer" girls. no stories about strip clubs and $100-150 girls. I will be headed either there or Jamiaca soon and though Kingston would be paradise (im a musician and love chocolate women) I also speak Spanish pretty fluently and think I could get by cheaper there. Somebody like Arache needs to post again with some real down-home mongering type general info like what areas of town do girls work etc. and also on hostels etc. where you can get a prviate room for about 20 bucks a night...If I want to spend $200 on a girl Ill stay in the US. Cmon hombres need some recent info on DR...;-)!

ummm try reading my report two months ago?

By Concarne on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 - 09:46 pm:  Edit

Guys, I normally would do all the reading, etc rather than posting this list of questions but since I just impromptu decided to leave Sun rather than waiting til June and I have to work non-stop until Sun...I hope you take pity on me and perhaps answer some of these questions, thanks in advance!

Flying from LA and will try to get directly into Puerto Plata. Staying in Sosua, likely at the Europa.

Plan on hitting the freelancer scene mostly although hard pro ocassionally may work. Ideally I would like at leat 1 ST and 1 LT per day, 2 STs preferably. Fluent in spanish so I hope that allows me to try and keep ST bet 600-1000 and LT under 1600.

My questions:

Any recommended hot spots for free lancers other than the Discos? Beach bars or areas of the beach?

What about hi quality hard pros?

Can I score vitamin V there in case of need? How about Cialis?

Since I will be butterflying, any issues I may face w the chicas in spite of making it clear I will be jumping around?

How easy to set up 3s or 4s?

I plan on staying the bulk if not all of my time around Sosua but if people can make a strong rec for checking out Santo Domingo or another city I would like to hear about it.

Thanks for the comments already posted and for any new advice fellows. And I hope to come back w a good assortment of pics for all to enjoy.

Peace.

Concarne

PS: one more thing: I would not be oppossed to the idea of setting up a fiesta w some other mongers who may be around. I am thinking maybe renting a condo or a big suite, 3-4 guys and maybe 6-7 girls and having a good fiesta may be cool. If anyone has set this up before or has any good suggestions please let me know.

By Don Marco on Saturday, April 02, 2005 - 01:01 pm:  Edit

Bars, discos, and beach... just walk around. If you see a cute gale, smile and make eye contact. It works for moi and I don't even speak spanish.

Your prices are a little on the low side, whores never adjust for inflation.

dunno about v and c-- never looked

2-3s, not a problem if your inquiring up front when u see gals together. It's more like a tag team though with most of them.

butterflying shouldnt pose much if any issues.

sousa is small but should keep u busy-- depending on your length of stay. If you get bored venture to Puerto Plata.

festas-- no idea, I like them focused on 1 cock (mine).

Enjoy.

Well...I am back. Not bad, not bad.

Some pretty nice booty there and some very cute girls. Was able to keep the $ to 1000 TLN, a couple of 500 and even a couple of freebies.

Will post a mini trip report when time allows.

The one sucky thing was one jeoulus chica and that my camera got stolen.

Looking into airfares from Miami to Puerto Plata, I noticed that it costs almost $200 more than taking a flight from Newark or JFK to POP that changes in Miami ro the exact same flights. This is on American. If I purchased tix for the NY flight but got on the connecting flights in Miami and bagged the NY to MIA legs, would I be nailed by American for some kind of terrorist suspicion thing? Any info is appreciated.

By FLhobbyer on Monday, September 19, 2005 - 12:43 am:  Edit

Many airlines cancel your 'downlegs' if you miss a prior leg. American claims they might do this, but my experience shows they don't. Be sure to only use carry on luggage!

By Wnose on Tuesday, September 20, 2005 - 07:43 pm:  Edit

Try looking for a flight to Santiago. There are regular flights going there and the rate was actually quite reasonable last time I went. It's very easy to get from Santiago to Puerto Plata too.

Santiago also has 3 clubs - Passions, Casa Blanca and Illusions that are definitely worth a visit. If you see a single girl there, she's probably available for take out, or eat-in. hee hee.

Spirit Air has a great dealinto Santo Domingofrom FLL. I want to go to Sosua/POP from there via Caribe Bus. How wouldI do that from the Santo Domingo Airport? also to get back to SD? Also, seeking any general info on Sosua/POP -- where to stay (chica friendly), where to eat, what to wear, presents for girls, pricing, daytime action etc. All info appreciated. Thanks.

From SDQ to Sosua on CaribeTours is a pain in the butt...if you want to get there quickly. I'd opt for a cab...about $120US...get there much sooner. Otherwise, cab it to CaribeTours bus terminus by Plaza Central, grab the bus there and relax for several hours...about $50 or so (I think).

Can't help much on the Sosua action, I haven't been there for awhile. The following is from "fuzzy" memory land:

Best Bar: Shark Bar (ask for JimmyDR - he will always hook you up)

Other Setting: Hotel Europa (Bar) - if you don't get gro

Hello fellow mongerers,

After much deliberation and strain in fighting the Global War on Terrorism in Iraq for 18 months (The US Army loves long deployments, wtf?!?! LOL), I will be starting a long awaited vacation in Puerta Plata from the 30 January to 10 February. In between these dates I'll definitely be planning on touring the countryside and making stops in Sosua, Santiago, and of course Santo Domingo.

Since it is my first time in the DR, I chose to stay at the honorably mentioned Blackbeard's Resort in Costumbar. First I would like to mention that I chose this place for the affordability, location of the beach, overall activities that can be done, and of course accessibilty to the women. Secondly, I was quite fortunate to have confirmed a reservation, as it is still the high season, and the room was the last available. So apparently it's going to be a full house at Blackbeards. Third, because it's going to be a full house, I am asking if any fellow ClubHombre members here will be around during these dates. Since it is my first time in DR, I would love to share some beers and perhaps a few adventures.

For interests sake, I am taking a hopper over to San Juan, Puerto Rico from 10 February to 19 February. The only reason I'll be in Puerto Rico is because I have a sure thing going on there, and plus I have access to a vacation rental saving me thousands of dollars.

19 February to 1 March, I will be taking a huge leap of faith and will be exploring Nicaragua. There is a lack of up to date reports of this country, and because of my travel experience I am just so daring that way. I have a contact, a fellow soldier I might add, that owns a plantation there near Managua, so accomodations are not a worry. I will mainly be reporting on the P4P, non pros, and everything else, food, scenery, etc.

That's it in a nutshell. I have been a mongerer since high school and joining the Army in my travels. I've been a member here for about a few months, and excited to make my first reports.

Does anyone know approximately how much a cab would be from the santiago airport to blackbeards in puerto plata?? or would u recommend renting a car.. planning a 4 or 5 day trip.. thanks

By Cabo5150 on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 - 10:18 am:  Edit

Hey Simancas,

I've only heard that a cab from the Puerto Plata airport to Blackbeard's can be roughly 20 to 40 US dollars.

I can only imagine how expenisve it can be from Santiago. Apparently they reap the cash flow in cabs.

You may want to look into the Caribe Tours busline. I heard it's relatively much more affordable even though it may not be a direct route to where you want to go.

Wnose,

Thanks, I'll be going down there after my Dominican and PR excursion. As for "nicaland", one of my soldiers owns a coffee plantation down there so I should be able to have an advantage for a seriously needed update.

Lately I have also looked into the non-pro scene of things in all the places I'll be going to. As a fall back plan it may help to get a chica's phone number, especially if she can speak fluent english.

Just got back from my first business trip of the year to Santo Domingo.

The facts:
-Exchange Rate is 34 pesos/$1
-Girls in the Casinos ask for 2,000 but will go (happily) at 1,500
-Girls at Lapsis are 2,500 for 3 hours
-Girls from Club Remington are 2,000 for 2 hours
-Cabanas (short time hotels) are 500 to 1,000 pesos for 4 hours depending on extras like food and drinks

Hotels:
- I stayed at the Jaragua, notoriously NOT guest friendly, but I had no problem walking right into the elevator and up to my room with a chica from Lapsis one night. Not sure if they relaxed their policy or let me slide this time or just missed me at the elevator.
- Courtyard Inn is still guest friendly - just have to sign the girl in.

My first stop was my all time favorite place - Club Remington. My favorite 22 year old blonde was there and we were off to a Cabana in no time. Multiple shots, energetic, passionate ride for 2 hours. Remington had 50 girls at 9:30 PM on a Sunday evening.

Monday night - Lapsis. I hit there late. There were plenty of girls, but quality was down. I did take the one that I thought was the best of the bunch (said she was 20) back to the Jaragua. She did me right .. stayed till 6:00 AM. Asked for a tip. I did give her a tip but less than I was going to because she kind of demanded it. Keep in mind, the girls from Lapsis and Remington get 50% of the fee so they are not making much.

Tuesday - rested and I had business engagements.

Wednesday - back to Remington. The bartender helped me set up a Fiesta .. 3 girls for 3 hours for 6,000 pesos. Went to a Cabana. I insisted on girls who would do girl on girl on girl on me .. no problem. Since my blonde chica does not do other girls, she stayed behind. This was a fabulous experience.

Thursday - I had to rest ... really ... I just had to.

Friday - returned home ... exhausted.

Cab drivers tried taking me to local whore houses, but I just stuck to what works for me .. Remington and Lapsis. The Casino girls are generally not as good looking.

"Friday - returned home ... exhausted. "

I didn't take off days of rest when I went to Sousa and I vividly recall walking into the airport for my departure and feeling like I was all fucked out... sexually exhausted. Those girls really gave me a workout! Of course I stayed at a hotel where whores worked 24/7 and I couldn't say no when they knocked on the door every couple hours... 1500p @ 34:1 is close to my threshhold of whether it's worth it or not though... 2k LT is IMHO not worth it when there is better destinatations at hand.

OK. Here is the strange question of the week! I am looking for about 4 or 5 chicas, attractive and English-speaking, to entertain at my house in the Dominican Republic. Rather than sample all of the local wares, which would wipe me out, I'm looking for volunteers. Any ideas?

By Don Marco on Sunday, March 05, 2006 - 10:45 am:  Edit

Let me see, your THERE (i.e. own a house there), we're HERE, and your asking us where you can find free pussy? You can safely claim not only the strange, but stupid question of the week prize.

Now why would a whore/s want to give away her pussy for free?

By Drtraveler on Sunday, March 05, 2006 - 12:26 pm:  Edit

Yeah, well, it does qualify as stupid in some respect--I admit that. But the ones I know are not interested in traveling out to other parts of the DR. If anyone knows some who are, then I'm definitely interested in knowing them.

P.S. I'm not sure I said anything about "free" but I can see how "volunteer" might be misread.

By Don Marco on Sunday, March 05, 2006 - 02:31 pm:  Edit

funk and waggies:

volunteer: To perform or offer to perform a service of one's own free will. 2. To do charitable or helpful work without pay

+

"sample all of the local wares, which would wipe me out"

I am lead to presume "wipe out" refers to financially in this context.

Regardless, good luck in your search.

They closed, of all places, Remington Palace, last week. They instituted a NO ALCOHOL law Sundays thru Thursdays at midnight ... strip clubs, hotel bars, regular bars and even Casinos .. no booze after midnight ... OK till 2 AM on Friday and Saturday nights only.

The local Casas are running scared.

I can no longer endorse Santo Domingo for The Hobby.

Go elsewhere

There was a post indicating that Santo Domingo has been shut down. Can anyone recommend anything in the DR at this time? I will be starting in Santo Domingo but would rent a car (if that's wise) and drive where-ever.

Are the all inclusives still working, and are they a good idea?

Any recommendations in general at this time?

Thanks

By Concarne on Sunday, December 31, 2006 - 02:08 pm:  Edit

If you have a car driving from Santo Domingo to Boca Chica (which should be busy enough) should take about an hour or so, from SD to POP/Sosua/Cabarete area (which should also have plenty of pussy around) I think is probably 4hr driving depending on how you drive.

Frankly I get bored easily in the DR and staying on the same spot more than 3-4 days taxes me. Having the car is key as you can cruise around.

Oh...since you have the car take advantage to giving rides (usually short) to chicas on the road (they are waiting for buses and taxis). EASY to get cells and dates...using common sense and caution of course. I usually only pick up chicas by themselves, occassionally in couples, NEVER with a dude and never when dark and too hard to see what is up.

Have a good time, any questions feel free to PM.

RT here.

Whatever you do, don't be stupid and buy cigars at the duty-free store in the Santo Domingo Airport.

The cigars that I bring home for my friends (Leon Jimenes #2) that run US$39 for the box of 10 in the supermarkets here are currently priced at US$129 for the box of 25. That's 32% more than you're paying WITH taxes in the city.

As I walked out of the store, the saleswoman followed me out, telling me that I was passing up a great buy, because I wasn't paying taxes.

Hell, I just checked, and cigar.com had 'em for $93 per box, plus $6 shipping. Even if I wanted them at my door TOMORROW, it would only be a total of $113.

Jeez, I am glad that I am going home for 6 days.

Hey guys. In the early stages of summer trip planning. Last several months for me were total shit personally and finacially resulting in aborting a planned trip to Columbia for last August and no chance for a trip this winter. I have ended up taking a job I hate with a measley 10 days off through the rest of the year. On the good side, I took the shitty job due to the hours so I have time to earn an advanced degree and up my lot in life. Dreaming of a 3 month Asia and SA tour in 22 months to be paid for with a signing bonus.

I have been reading up on DR much due to location as I want to spend about 3 days with a friend in Puerto Rico as well on the trip. Direct flights San Juan, PR to POP. Price and times not bad out of Kansas City. Specifically, Sousa is my target base of operations. ...Columbia, Costa Rica, and Venezuela under some consideration, but flight times look to be eating away too much.

Questions:
-Budget goal of $1600 for lodging, food, drink, and play a day get me by OK for 7 days and nights? Moderate food and drink, TLN likely each night, a few ST daytime, and no pricey excursions.
-Europa hotel seems to get decent reviews at $50 or so a night. Any better options? Need to be able to walk to beach / hot spots.
-Is BlackBeards worth a visit for a night or two? Or as an independent guy, just skip it?
-Cialis available OTC?

Thanks guys. I hope be getting back on the trip report track.

By Don Marco on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 - 11:41 pm:  Edit

Hold the caviar... I assume the 1600 was after air.

(1600-(50*7))/7= ~170/day for food, drinks, getting around, a lt, and a few st's a day. Let's say your a cheap date and just eat native 3x a day =25, toss in 25 for drinks (cheap), 25 for misc, transport, tips, etc leaving you at 100 left over... That will get you a couple STs a day or possibly a LT and a ST, but not a few ST + LT unless your really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

As for BB's-- I personally don't like touristy and canned stuff, but if you do you will like it. It does cost more tho and quality imho is not as good. On the + side, it takes no effort or knowledge at all ;)

I haven't been to the DR since last summer and wanted to get an update on the curfew. Last time I was in the country, I stayed in POP/Sosua. Everything in POP closed at midnight or 1am and in Sosua at 2am or 3am. At that point, I think Sosua was the only place in country where the curfew was an hour longer, plus the casino was open til like 5.

Can anyone confirm whether the curfew is still in effect and if the times are the same? If everything's the same, I might pass on another DR trip

I was there about 2 months ago and the hours you list for Sosua are on the money.

I'll be down in Sosua for my second trip. The clubs were open until 2 or am when I was there in March.

Hi All,

I’m planning a boy’s trip to the Dominican Republic for the first time and was wondering if you could help. My questions are: Where is the Dominican Republic’s equivalent to Brazil’s Rio De Janeiro and it’s famous Help Club. Also, where ever this place is, what hotels are local guest friendly there? Any advice you can offer will be much appreciated.

All you need to know is FLY into Puerto Plata and head to SOSUA, stay at Hotel Europa or New Garden, Head to Classicos at night and Passions and the beach in the DAY.. 99.9% of all the girls are p4p in one way or another... Find out the going rate and dont OVERPAY... thats about it... Enjoy!

Starskyh I was in Sousa a few weeks ago for a short weekend trip. My first time to the island.
The Europa wanted $50 a night and I wasn't to impressed with the rooms so i passed. I ended up staying at the Hotel Valaria, $40 a night, very nice rooms and pool area, very clean ( owned by Germans ) girl friendly. Good location.
The main action at night seems to be Latinos after about 10.
The asking price is 2K for ST but they come down quickly to 1K about $30.

Beers were 100P, about $3 every where i went, which i though was a little high.
Also, a taxi from the airport a good ten minute ride to Sousa will cost about $25, a rip off for sure. Best to hook up with a few guys and spit the cab fare.
The beach, maybe i am spoiled by the beaches in Northeastern Brazil I though the beach in Sousa sucked. I spent most of my time at the Hotel pool.

Thanks Dallas, we will certianly take your advice on board. There is nothing worse than going on holiday and ending up in a poor quality hotel.

Anymore tiips out there

Can anyone help:
How far is it from Blackbeards to Sosua and Cabarete by car?
Is it realistic that you could barfine in Sosua at night, if your hotel was in Puerto Plata or is the drive too far?
What should the taxi fare be between Puerto Plata and Sosua?
Thanks.

By Fletch1964 on Tuesday, May 04, 2010 - 11:53 am:  Edit

BBs to Sosua is about 30-40 min drive.About an extra 10 min to Cabarete.

Sosua to PP is about 20 minutes.

Don't know about taxis

By Don Marco on Thursday, May 06, 2010 - 01:04 am:  Edit

BTW- decent AA fares to PP if anyone is thinking of checking it out.

By Pan1975 on Thursday, May 27, 2010 - 06:48 pm:  Edit

The fare from Blackbeard's(Costambar)to Sosua is $40-45. Puerto Plata(center city)to Sosua is around $35. These are the gringo rates - the locals pay about half as much. You can sometimes negotioate these rates down if you get decent cabbie and promise to use him for your future taxi needs.

how is PP? I am only been in DR one time and I went to Santo Domingo. If possible, please let me know the difference between PP and Santo Domingo. I've heard that PP is better but not sure to what extent. I have been in South America and just want to get to know DR better. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Anzac15: You might consider Field of Dreams (FOD) located conveniently in between BB's/Costambar/Puerto Plata to the west and Sosua/Cabarette to the east. The airport is less than 15 minutes from FOD. I'm not pimping for FOD, its just an option. FOD is almost always dead at night as the Bitches aren't as tightly regimented as they are at BB's. Mostly just freelancers looking to make some coin during the day, many are former BB's Bitches who left or were fired. That doesn't mean they're bad bangs though. FOD allows ST room rental if they aren't full and you just need to bust one out. The Playa Dorada golf resort is right across the street from FOD and might be an attraction with its supposedly world class golfing, bars/discos, etc.
I'll be staying at FOD for our 1st night in July before heading out to BB's for 4 days, then another 2 in Sosua. The new American manager at FOD seems like a decent, capable guy who gets it and he's been making improvements. You could take a taxi from Sosua with your Bitch to FOD for maybe $25.00 USD.
Fun247. Santo Do is the capitol city of course and has alot to offer if you have the time to learn about it from here. The Puerto Plata/Sosua area would be better if you're short on time and don't want to work too hard looking for it. Santo Do is better if you're there for a longer stay and have a good guide/wingman. More things to do at night or the day for that matter.

By Translatordude on Wednesday, July 07, 2010 - 08:21 pm:  Edit

Santo Domingo is great if you have 3 or more days. I've been there many time and always find something new. Having a wingman is good but especially if one of you can speak Spanish.

Don't know if it belongs here or under politics but in any case this is apparently the place where Senator Bob Menendez allegedly scored the nice ladies for his current little "Dominican sex parties" political scandal. I imagine they were overpriced to begin with and will want even more now that they are famous and all but they have a web site anyway.

From my experience and trips to DR....practically every girl on the street is down to make a few pesos. Just smile and show some interest. swing at every pitch....you will get a hit real quick.

I was the other night checking the bars in sosua and far surprized to be witness of a crackdown on working girls by the dominican police.
was talking to this chick and all of sudden she just took off like she saw "godzilla" coming onto her !!! was surprized and then i saw like 3 cops walking and grabbing girls, and a van with 2 cops inside. all the gilrs in "masse" weerre running down the street.
in a way i don't agreed with this 'casue the clibs and bars beenfit from their presence and the "chicas" bring money and the bussinesses benefit from this.
is hypocritical to criminalize these girls for this. on the other hand, they are some fo these girls that do no good to the mongers (stelaing, cheating on deals, etc...). what i can say, is human nature and behavior.
nightlife a little different from asia but the weatehr and the beaches in sosua are great. i feel daytime not much to do here. surely it can't stand next to pattaya or jomtien beach !!!!

Has anyone tried an all-inclusive package with DR Mermaids (https://drmermaids.com/our-packages/)?

I realize I could save a ton going at it on my own but I only have enough time to drop in for a few days and don’t have the time/energy to get familiar with the local mongering scene.

Thanks in advance for any insights!
