I read about the Playboy Palace on a couple other websites. Comments seemed to indicate that it started off as a nice budget brothel (1000 DOP) that spiraled downwards in terms of quality of selection. I wanted to visit anyways. I almost did.
My first attempt involved following a stupid tout from Avenida Pasteur because I didn't have the address on me. I thought it was far, past the Parque Independencia, but he told me it was only a block. I followed him to the park before I was annoyed enough to ditch him. That story was relayed in chapter 1 of my report.
On my second day I had the address with me. It was supposedly at Mercedes 355, a block north of the pedestrian walkway El Conde near the intersection of Calle Santome. I found the address, but the building could hardly be considered a Palace. The surrounding area looked really shady and there was no sign on the building. The door in front was locked. I walked a couple blocks in all directions just in case, but I later confirmed that I definitely had the right place. It didn't look like a place I wanted to go in, so I didn't.
I've been informed that the place is still open and that they do often, if not always, keep the door locked. I suppose you have to knock or call first. I do not have the number.
I'll note that the tout and a taxi driver I met later in the trip both recommended the Playboy Palace. I know for a fact the tout was full of shit, but the taxi driver seemed to be a straight-forward guy.
I have no plans on returning here.

I believe this place might be closed now. I stopped by two days and they had two big rocks stacked up in front of the door. I never made it inside, but I've heard I didn't miss much.
