I am going to do a tour of the Caribbean/Central America in about a month. I had thought to start in the DR, since I have not been there before, but am discouraged by the air transportation to the rest of Central America. Seems to all be thru Miami, and pretty expensive. Are "Island Hopping" flights still available? Many years ago, we used to be able to get pretty much island to island with little trouble?
Thanks

American has a lot of non-stops out of San Juan. That would be the best bet for Caribbean connections. It would save a lot of backhauling to Miami.
As far as going island to island, you would have to book directly with the small airlines that operate in and around the islands.
