The Hotel Los Jardines website lists the hotel as being at the intersection of Calle Texas and Calle 10, but the street signs say Padre Ramon Dupert and Sebastian F Valverde. I confirmed they were the same place on Google Maps. I'm not sure which are the older and which are the newer names, but I'd default to the street signs.
I had wanted to stay at the Aloha Sol, but since my last visit to Santiago they had added a casino and raised the room rates.
Hotel Los Jardines is close to the Caribe Tours and Metro bus terminals, both of which are on the same block. It's close enough to walk with light luggage, but might be a little far if you have more than that. I didn't walk to the hotel when I arrived because I wasn't yet familiar with the area and wasn't sure how easy it would be to walk.
There wasn't much to see or do around the area, but I didn't explore it very thoroughly besides going a few blocks in all directions and was only in the area for the day.
The room was small and unimpressive and the room safe didn't work. The included breakfast was ok, but I was surprised that they didn't provide a breakfast menu. I was also a little surprised that the waiter took my unfinished juice without asking about it.
Besides the price, the only positive thing seemed to be that the Hotel Platino had even less to see in walking distance.
Despite my lack of enthusiasm, unless I find better options I'll probably stay at one of these places when I return to Santiago in the future, although Platino will probably be my first choice.
