Hotel Platino is on a street that doesn't really have anything around besides the nearby supposedly 24hr restaurant nearby. The restaurant looked closed late at night to me. There was a car wash, a gas station, and a few other things, but that was it. Two things in particular I looked for was a market and an ATM. The lack of the latter ended up costing me a bit.

Although it looked close enough to the downtown area to walk, it really wasn't. You can't really get out of the area without a car or taxi.

On the plus side, the rooms were nicer and the restaurant was better than the Hotel Los Jardines which is the other place I stayed on this trip. I also heard that the place is guest friendly, but I didn't bring anyone back so I can't confirm.

I would prefer to stay in the area around the Aloha Sol, but I don't know if I'll be staying there anymore since they added the casino and raised their room rates. It seems you can no longer get a room for under $80 unless you get a corporate rate or special deal.
