Metro is another bus company that has routes to different cities in the Dominican Republic, similar to Caribe Tours. I heard from a local that Metro was better than Caribe Tours, but I forgot to ask why. The rates and travel times seemed comparible, but Caribe seemed a little less expensive at times and offered more routes.
I posted the following in the Caribe Tours topic:
"I recently rode two routes on Caribe Tours. Santo Domingo to Sosua for 360 DOP with a travel time of 5 hours and 15 minutes.
I also rode Santiago to Santo Domingo for 280 DOP with a travel time of 3 hours and 15 minutes.
For Sosua to Santiago I had used the Metro Bus company because it was more convenient with it's Sosua location. Had I known about it at the time, I would also have used them to travel from Santo Domingo to Sosua. However, for going to Santo Domingo, I'd recommend Caribe Tours because of it's location.
I hope that wasn't confusing...basically going to Santo Domingo, take Caribe Tours...going to Sosua, take Metro Bus."

I boarded small van and we transferred in Puerto Plata for the coach bus. It was a decent ride but I slept on and off. I stayed on top of my luggage because they don't tag it therefore someone could easily get your bags. I sat close to the window where I could see the luggage doors open and close at the Santiago stop. We only made one stop in Santiago it was a little more than a 4 hour trip for 380DOP which beats paying $200.00 for a taxi.
