Havana short time?

ClubHombre.com: Caribbean : Cuba: Advice/Questions/Commentary: Havana short time?

By Meek666 on Monday, April 30, 2012 - 08:05 am:  Edit

After many trips to Asia, I am finally making a trek to Havana. While i am excited, I am going to be with group of collegues, all staying in the same hotel. I can't imagine a trip without partaking in the local flavor, but also need to avoid a "secret service" situation. I canjust picture the scene with me arriving at the hotel with a local girl and running into male and female collegues. Needless to say, it would not be good for me or my career.
So the question is: other than my hotel, is there somewhere I can take a girl for a ST? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Don't worry about a "Secret Service" fiasco; few if any hotels will let a local girl in unless she's registered as a guest. Read some of the Cuba reports and you'll see that no one stays in hotels for exactly this reason. ST hotels? Not that I've heard of.

Somebody with more recent Havana experience may be able to add more, but during my Cuba travels, the only place to see a girl was in the room you rented in a private house.

You can use many casa particulars short time. There are also street girls in the Vedado area that use casa's for ST action for around 5CUC or so.

In regards to the casa particulars... from reading the reports it seems like you rent a room at someone's place is that correct? Also, does anyone know why I can't read Jonesie's reports... many thanks

Jonesie, while a good reporter, is not my favorite guy. Like so many others who visit Cuba regularly, he was in the biz of selling cigars.

Despite careful discussions about the quality of his wares and if he guaranteed authentic quality? The box he sent me was of dismally poor quality. And any discussions of a refund were fruitless.

Good widdance to bad wubbish is what I say.

By Catocony on Wednesday, May 09, 2012 - 09:36 pm:  Edit

Jonesie fell into the mode that too many ex-pats do. He goes from making friends to helping friends to going into business with friends to taking advantage of friends to screwing over friends to making enemies.

Catacony, Have you ever met Jonesie?

By Catocony on Thursday, May 10, 2012 - 10:37 am:  Edit

No, but I know quite a few of the guys he wanted to use as mules to get his stogies into the country. That's part of the problem, another was attempting to rip off Hombre to start his own board.

How was he ripping off Hombre to start his own board. That's rubbish. I have been with him and seen the cigars that are obtained in Cuba and they are the real deal. Won't say how he obtained them but they are legit.

I trust Dongringo's opinion and that troubles me that Jonesie would send him bad cigars but I can only comment on what I see and Jonesie has always been a stand up guy with me as is Dongringo.

If someone with monger cred thinks they can make a better mousetrap, more power to them. How is that ripping anyone off?

Of the years he was a member here, you had ample chances to call him out. Why now that he's left the room?

To clarify what's been said, here's a little background.

ClubHombre has been around for over 10 years now. In that time we have had no issues with competing sites nor their operators. At least a few people that run sites, such as JimmyDR and others that may prefer to remain anonymous, have accounts on CH and treat our site with respect and behave reasonably.

In Jonesie's case, our initial issues with him related to an obvious lie we caught him in regarding one of his reports, and a threat by him to post gay porn on CH if he didn't get his way. He have copies of this written correspondence.

Jonesie also was engaging in shameless promotion of his site in his reports, a practice prohibited by ALL sites of our nature, but actually tolerated to an extent on CH. We allowed the links for a limited period of time, in some cases months.

Jonesie was eventually removed in the middle of a spam attack on CH. Jonesie then DEMANDED that he be allowed to link back to his site or he would try to claim copyright infringement on the 4 years of reports that he submitted willingly to CH with no former mention of such conditions. Despite our agreement to removing the reports within several weeks (due to travel, scheduling, and a complex CH data structure), Jonesie then DEMANDED that we remove them within a week or he would begin to steal a wide range of CH reports from other contributors. Jonesie was very specific in these threats and even went as far as telling us he would steal CH reports (particularly our Asia content) regardless. We also have all of this written correspondence saved.

I consider it likely that Jonesie will treat people well if he can use them as smuggling mules or potential customers. I also suspect Jonesie would blatently lie about what happened, but we have written copies of the correspondence history that tells the truth and reveals more of his character than might readily be apparent.

Both Blazers and Catocony are very long term members of CH and like many others, are very familiar with CH's tolerant nature. I believe both can attest that the removal of a reporter as active as Jonesie would only come as a result of some severe behavior issues.

In 10+ years, a vast majority of our community have been polite, supportive, and respectful. Of course, we have had to deal with a handful of unpleasant people, and this was one of the worst.

Wow,

My apologies, I didn't mean to cause a stir... And here i thought his reports were private or the U.S. Was finally after him for visiting Cuba so many times lol. Nevertheless, thank you for the honest feedback.

Blazers writes "I have seen the cigars he (Jonesie) obtains in Cuba, and they are the real deal".

At the risk of sounding arrogant, what qualifies you Blazers to say that Jonesie was obtaining authentic first quality cigars? I'd appreciate either your honest answers to the following interrogatories, or an admission that you may not be qualified to comment on Jonesie's wares.

Do you smoke premium hand rolled cigars regularly? I do, and have since 1989.

Do you know the 7 obvious signs of a counterfeit cigar? If so, by all means list them for us (without googling them). I have purchased hundreds of boxes by these rules, and enjoyed smoking them personally. Jonesie's garbage barely met 2 of the 7 quality standards.

Have you personally negotiated with Cuban black market cigar vendors? I have, and it took several trips and 3 vendors before I found a good one. My tried and tested vendor sold me 100's of boxes without any quality issues. Why? Because he traded body building supplements with me for cigars, and I informed him that if he didn't want me putting estrogen into his protein powder, he wouldn't give me any fake cigars. (Cuban's are only slightly higher in my books than Jonesie)

I happen to know and like Blazers, but he may have crossed over a line with that statement. Lest anyone doubt that Jonesie sells crappy turds, I eagerly await Blazers response... to set the record straight...

DeeG

Well, I met with the guy who gets them from the factory and found out how he gets them but you could be right that they are fake. Jonesie has always seems trustworthy but he may be trusting the wrong people...dunno.

Well I sure do miss Jonsies reports and photos. He did have terrific writting skills and a lifestyle to be respected. I wish someone else would step up and post some good pics and reports. I think the fact that pussy is just so easy to get here in the states kinda makes going to a shithole country for sex seems unnecessary.
Thank God for Dr J!

I wish Castro would just DIE so we can all go to cuba, fuck girls in our hotels without all this covert crap and bring the best cuban cigars home when the trip is done.

By Trek on Sunday, May 13, 2012 - 10:33 am:  Edit

Just because Castro dies doesn't mean things will change much.

I don't see the US lifting the embargo anytime soon. To much political pressure.

Besides if it was easy to go, it would quickly be overun by asshole raising the prices and ruining the place, just like in Costa Rica and other places close to the US.

By Elgrancombo on Sunday, May 13, 2012 - 07:50 pm:  Edit

Trek is right. Once Cuba becomes easy to go to, it will change for the worse. Think of the way Rio, MDE, C. Rica changed after being overrun by Gringos. And Cuba is so close to the U.S. that it would happen really quickly.

I do however, wish that Cuba would go back to how it was in the 90s before they started cracking down on the chicas.
