This sleepy colonial beach town is a pleasant place to while away a few days. Come the evening the place to head for is Las Cuevas discotec sittuated inside some caves on a small mountain overlooking the city. The most unusual venue I've ever come across for a disco. Although it gets hot, the dansing like everywhere in Cuba is of a great standard. I went a few years ago when very few foreigners did more than day drip to the town. Maybe there are more now, but my guess is that its still largely a local affair. The supple of foreign guys is not strong enough for girls to go there specifically to find foreign guys, they just come to danse and have a good time. However, if a firegn guy does come there he can expect to attrcat considerable interest from the girls. When I went I was spoilt for choice. The difficulty is fin ding somewhere to take them afterwards. The police in Cuba make periodic efforts to try and clean up the place. Most casa particulars are not at all if you bring back a girl. In my case, we eventually made it to her friend's house where we had some incredibly passionate sex.
