I'm new to the group, wrote a couple of posts and don't know where the hell they are. But back to the topic at hand. I'm trying to decide on whether to go to Rio or Cuba in Feb. It will be around Carnival time and don't know if that will help or hurt a Rio trip. I can't stop thinking about a Cuba trip though, and have heard alot of mixed reviews about the cops cracking down, I'm in limbo! The 2 guys I'm going with aren't official mongers, but always end up fucking hookers. So I guess they're in training. Me, I've been all over Mexico and have had GREAT and terrible experiences. Looking for a dream come true. I know no matter which one I choose I'll find what I'm lookig for. But I'm just looking for a little input from the Veteranos!!!!! Some one help out a Rio and Cuba newbie.

Never been to Cuba, so I'm not qualified to give you a comparison. However, Rio and Carnival... here's the two-minute rundown. Unless you want to go to Rio SPECIFICALLY for Carnival, avoid Rio during Carnival week at all costs. It's an overpriced madhouse and a major sword-fight for the girls. However, the "worst of it" is just during Carnival itself - Feb 20-25 (and the 25th is Ash Wednesday, Carnival is over but the town is pretty much hung-over). So if you avoid that week, Rio in February is great fun. And the girls will be mighty glad to see you the week AFTER Carnival, since most of the tourists have gone home by then. Still, Feb. is high season, so expect high prices (airline tickets, hotels).
As Hombre, our humble admin, poitned out, there is plenty of material on these boards about Rio vs. Cuba, use the search function.

One point about Cuba: While Rio will always be Rio (or so I hope), Cuba will probably be very different in a few years. Castro will eventually be gone and the place will either go to hell in a handbasket or become a quasi McDonaldland as corporate America, circling the island like sharks for years, move in to finish it off, establishing sweatshops and opening Walmart stores. <shudder>

Thanks for the 411! Hope to hear more and have enjoyed the several reports on these two places. Until then I'll just have to hit TJ whenever the opportunity arises.

Do not go to cuba first. Go to rio. The year 2003 has brought on tragic and sad changes in Cuba that make it very difficult to enjoy the hobby on demand.
Cuba needs to improve before it returns to becoming a worthwhile destination again.
BTW - I have been to Cuba twice as often as Rio, for a total of 18 trips in the past 18 months. You do the math, but I may be better qualified to make this statement than the average guy.
PS - This message is written from an internet cafe in Copacabana, Rio

Gringasnomas rarely works when he is at work here in the U.S., I can assure you the only thing he does in Cuba is chase (and catch) pussy.
By Bull_winkle on Monday, October 20, 2003 - 10:55 pm: Edit
Gringasnomas is a whore's whore. He goes to Cuba to service beautiful Cubanas and Rio to service beautiful Cariocas.
Wombat: Yeah, I used to read Chomsky. He probably has a point about Cuba's plight being partly due to the US's longstanding, cruel Latin American policy. When visiting Cuba, it is relatively easy to see that Fidel has turned the Island into a police state, and harder to see the US's role in fucking things up. You can bet that the US government is working overtime to make sure that Castro's legacy is one of failure. Once things change in Cuba, it'll turn into a theme park, I'm sure. But will things improve for Cubans? Doubtful. I hope I'm wrong.

I'll say it again - embargos don't work for shit. Didn't in Iraq, Libya, North Vietnam, Cuba, etc etc. What does work to open up police states? Two things - start a war, which is expensive and lots of people get blown the fuck up, or open the floodgates and let the most destructive weapons in the United States - Coke, McDonalds, bad rap music and cheap porn - lay waste to the land in question.
There's no need to embargo Cuba or bomb them, just open up a couple dozen Starbucks and McDonalds and let 100,000 New York vacationers in that place and Fidel will be asking for asylum in Haiti within a month ![]()

Gringosnomas,
I'm taking your advice, and the advice of most of the other guys I know who really know Cuba, and will pass on the trip I'd tentatively planned for January. Every report has things getting worse and worse. I can go in legally any time I want, but the mood there is so bad that I have no desire to deal with matters as they stand.
Agree with Buttwinkle on likely impact of US policy and Catocony on ineffectiveness of embargoes. The only people harmed are the have-nots. Castro and cronies in the military have not been and will not be fazed by it.

Bwana
Good idea to pass on Cuba. You will have far more fun at a VIPS festa.
They fixed that railing that you banged loose on the balconey, and the Millenium Suite is now open once again.
I hope to take it for test drive soon.

in Cuba its easier to find a tight girl with no baby that allows bareback sex.
By Bull_winkle on Tuesday, October 21, 2003 - 10:24 pm: Edit
Coke, McDonalds, bad rap music and cheap porn... New York vacationers... Hell, we have all of those here in California. No wonder the place is fucked up. It'll be awhile before we manage to terminate what's-his-name, however.
Like you, I can probably go to Cuba legally with no problems. Somehow, that route hasn't appealed to me.
In a professional publication that I receive, a colleague just wrote about her epic trip to Cuba. Apparently, Fidel and his gang choreographed things well for her, and "the living icon" even met with her group, giving them a salsa party at which he was "warm, witty, and extremely sharp, as he bantered... and gracefully accepted gifts and greetings."
My colleague painted a romantic picture of a poor but happy and charming Cuba, free of commercialism ("no billboards, no KFC, no Starbucks, no signs of globalization whatsoever"). It sounds like her whole charming trip included Old Havana and a zip around the Malecon. She seemed kind've oblivious to the Cuba that wasn't paraded in front of her. I wanted to puke.
It got even worse after I read GNM's latest post. That bastard has too much fun. I misread the part about banging loose the railing... I accidentally read "baloney" instead of "balconey".

Sadly, my baloney is still in need of servicing. The DDīs into which it was wedged appear to left a kink. Perhaps the maintenance staff at VIPS could adjust it when I am there.
ViperX
You are correct sir, however, there is ample opportunity for your favorite pasttime here in Brazil as well. That said, Cuba will always hold a fond place in my heart as well.
By Bwana_dik on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 12:12 pm: Edit
Ball_Twinkle, It was the baloney that damaged the balconey.
ViperX, You'd love Vila Mimosa. For an extra 10-15 reais there are a bunch of HIV+ garotas that will let you go bareback. For 20 reais you can do bareback anal with them, and for 30 reais you can get a transfusion from them.

i don't like dirty garotas.i only been to Rio once.the last time i was in Cuba i had a really tight 18y/o Cubana.i came in her many times the week i was there.i even fucked her when she had her period.i pulled my dick out and it was glazed with blood and pussy juice.i filled her up with my cum.thats real sex and you have to just deal with it.
By Getcozy on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 - 09:29 pm: Edit
Thanks for everyone's input. Since I always book last minute, I'll hold off until about a month before to see if there are any changes in the reports. But besides that it looks like Rio!
By Rb1 on Thursday, October 23, 2003 - 12:01 am: Edit
Viperx,,,actually none of us have to really deal with it. If your dick was covered with her blood, and it was unprotected sex,,,then you could have to deal with HIV/AIDS.
By Viperx on Thursday, October 23, 2003 - 06:33 am: Edit
from a sweet schoolgirl? not likely....but if your gay lover's condom breaks while he got you bent over, then you can get get HIV.

"but if your gay lover's condom breaks while he got you bent over, then you can get get HIV."
Viperx, do you speak from experience here?
By Bull_winkle on Thursday, October 23, 2003 - 08:13 am: Edit
Viperx, perhaps you could borrow one of GNM's condoms that he's not using.
For sheer life-on-the-edge dangerous and adrenaline, nothing compares to bareback sex with an all-pro nympho-chica from Tijuana's Zona Norte. Of course, there might be consequences. I've fortunately made it through my various battles intact and now I'm being much more sensible.
At times, I was sorely tempted to go coverage-free in Cuba and Rio but I stayed on this side of the line.
By Rb1 on Thursday, October 23, 2003 - 08:44 am: Edit
"from a sweet schoolgirl? not likely" How can you be sure of that? In Thailand some of the highest number of females infected with HIV/AIDS are younger females. Because men have gone over there thinking the younger ones are not infected and had unprotected sex. It can and does pass from female to male. One way it can pass is through blood.
Beyond HIV/AIDS,,,you can get Hepatitis B or C from blood, with C being the worst of the two.
But hey, it's your life or liver. Just do some research.

I thought you were deflowering headstones or some such.
Cuba ban lifted by the senate... but it'll probably be vetoed by Bush. Even so, it is a milestone, I guess. I guess Fidel's crackdown and recent charm towards legal US tourists has paid off.
By Viperx on Friday, October 24, 2003 - 05:45 am: Edit
why don't you guys stuff a plastic bag full of ky jelly between your mattress and stuff your dick in there.same thing and free.why waste money on condom sex?
By Bwana_dik on Friday, October 24, 2003 - 06:43 am: Edit
BallWrinkle-
The Senate vote is not really a milestone; both House and Senate have voted to de-fund enforcement of the ban before (it's not really an overturning of the ban, since the ban is an administrative action not readily reviewable by the legislative branch). The difference--what gives us an iota of hope this time--is that the House and Senate have passed the same version, so no need to reconcile versions in the appropriations conference committee (which is where it's died in previous years). Still, we can expect some of the House Republican leaders to carry Bush's water and try to delete the provision in conference. They'll probably succeed.
Viperx-
Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Yada, yada, yada, yada, yada.

Advice on Cuba,
I will be going to Cuba on Friday(Halloween)for the first time and will be there until Sunday evening. I'm booked at the Hotel National in Havana. Any advice I get will be greatly appreciated.
By Sandman on Sunday, October 26, 2003 - 09:40 am: Edit
Find a casa particular or be prepared to bribe security/doormen at Nacional;
If you get asked by immigration when you return if you have been to Cuba, don't lie to them.(can cost ya $75K) If they write you up, demand a hearing.
Watch out for the ever present scams and run when anyone says "my frien, my frien";
Watch out for underage chicas and always check carnets;
Don't pay over $40 for the first night and $20 for successive nights...specially if you are feeding them;
Get ready to have your world rocked by some of the most sexually agressive women in the world....

Sandman,
Many thanks,I'm traveling to Cuba via Panama and will spend a few days there afterwards so I'm hoping I can get by customs. If they do ask I'll tell them I have a rich Panamanian girlfriend and she paid for the trip. Hopefully that will work. Anyways I'll post a report when I get back.

I wanted to thank everyone for all of their positive contributions. Making a decision to go on a week vacation for me is a big deal. I only go on 2 per year and one is reserved for my daughter, so if I don't find what I'm looking for I have to wait a year. Well I can always go to TJ anytime!! But the reason for my post on "Cuba or Rio?" was to hear first hand recent experiences from the people who have been there done that. I've been lurking on the list for about a month. I'm also a first time monger (I hope) headed for Havana within the next couple of weeks.
I am a bit worried, not about the travel because I am Canadian (any others out there?) but I am worried about the Cuban police and the crackdowns.
Will they hassle the tourists?
I also am worried about scoring in the short amount of time I'll be there. I don't speak spanish so should I pay a translator to help me out? Are they easy to find?
Any advice on places to go, contacts or guides, Casas that look the other way (do they all? do you have to pay them? protocol?) would be much appreciated.
Any mongers going to be in the area who want to have a drink and can show me around?
By Dongringo on Friday, December 05, 2003 - 03:06 pm: Edit
Contact this gentleman anesto39@hotmail.com
He will take good care of you.
Don't worry about the police, just worry about checking ID "Tienes carnet?" (Pronounced 'tee-n-a car-nay) The ID starts with yy/mm/dd of their birth.
I don't ask their age anymore, I just ask to see their carnet. If they don't have one - move on.
Let my guide friend set you up with your casa and you will be fine.
Good luck eh?
By Toughguy on Saturday, December 06, 2003 - 10:21 am: Edit
thanks eh?
good advice. You don't know how much better I'm going to feel having a contact there.
what about the Spanish problem? I know I'm not there to talk... but I wouldn't mind a little conversation. Will I run into a lot of other north american guys when I'm there? At least I'll have someone to hang with.
