Have stayed here twice, last in March 01. Rooms a little worn, but clean and nice service,, 35 usd a nite. Not a far walk to Tabu /& Lapsus, Juaragua Hotel, Conde street, also a grocery store is up the street, and a money changer kiosk is off a side street. Conocuos,, {spelling??} a restaurant is a few blocks up towards the Malecon, from the hotel, this place has a show,, dancing in traditional costumes, food is great. Look for a horse drawn carriage,,,sins horse in front.
Has 24 hour room service, pool okay, no problem bringing in chicas. Last time there had a girl from Lapsus, shows up after getting off work @3AM , the guard called to make sure it was okay to send her up.

This place was around back in the early 70s. Nice location but it was really showing its age.

1967? Cuerpo de Paz?
I remember the place because they had imported corn on the cob and half way decent beef. Dominican corn was hard as a rock and their beef at the time was near inedible. The funny thing is that on my last visit there 4 years ago while walking around the neighborhood I saw the exact same broken sidewalks and huge deep holes as decades before. And the same pot hole covered with water (major axile buster) was on Independencia.
