If I fly into Santiago...how far is the cab ride to Soussa, and what is the cost of the cab ride???

Don't even think about it unless you have money to burn. The two places are hours apart. Besides, why would you fly into Santiago? Puerto Plata has the second main international airport in the country and it, the airport, is literally within minutes of Sosua. In fact, the airlines make their landing approach directly over Sosua which makes for lots of noise in your room at all hours of the night.

AA has put Santiago on sale twice in the last four weeks for $240 from Miami, including the exhorbitant taxes. That's probably why he's thinking about it.

If that's the case, I recommend that you spend the night in Santiago (the plane doesn't land until 8pm) and either take a cab ($25-30 more or less) or a bus (Less than $2 and the nicest bus you'll ever ride for the price - free coffee!) in the morning. Just take a taxi from the hotel to the bus station. The hotel guy can tell you the bus company.

The AA plane leaves early (10am) back to MIA, so either reverse the system, or take like a 5:00 or 6:00 am bus in the morning.

The bus ride to Puerto Plata is just under an hour and a half, so figure a two-hour ride.
