There seems to be some interest in the DR around here. I will add a few comments about the non-p4p scene for anyone who may be interested.
Dominican women tend to be passionate and come in all shapes, sizes, forms, and personalities despite the generalizations that one normally reads. Yes, there is more of an African influence (as there is throughout the Caribbean) than one tends to see in other Latin Locales. It has been my experience that Dominicanas are interested in meeting American men and like to flirt. Don't expect to get laid right out of the first conversation and you need to be able to chit-chat in Spanish.
Anyway, for those of you who like to venture beyond the p4p scene here is a suggestion, that was passed along to me.
Try the discos on Avenida Venezuela. This is on the other side of the bridge and few gringos ever venture there. Check out Eclipse which is a bit more high end, El Classico as well. For a more local type place try Latinos also on Venezuela, never a gringo in the place. Just have a cab drop you off on Avenida Venezuela, telling him you want to check out the discos. You can then bar hop from one to the other.
It has been a while since I was up that way and this info is close to a year old, but I have been told that the scene up on Venezuela is unchanged.
Remember, this is a non-p4p scene. The women here are not on the program. Also anyone foolish enough to fall in love should immediately contact TightFit for counsuling services.

Dominican women can be very passionate but just don't expect much in the way of intellectual stimulation. And they are EXTREMELY "chismosa" (gossiping/backstabbing).
And one final parting shot. Don't ever loan anything to a Dominican and expect to get it back. If you do loan things you are considered "facil" and that's not a compliment. If you don't loan things you are then a "tiņoso" which means tightwad.
The women are pretty, the rum is maybe the best in the world, the food is delicious, and the beaches are spectacular in many places. Good beer too and they serve it ice cold which goes down so smooth.

TF,
You just touched on one of my favorite parts of traveling - sampling the local beers and alcohol.
I am not that much of a beer drinker, but I LOVED drinking Presidente while I was there. I could not get enough of that stuff.
I also liked Skol while in Brazil.
I tried the Singha in Thailand, but I pretty much stuck to Carlsburg instead because Singha was too strong for me.
There was a beer I liked in Argentina as well, but I cannot remember the name of it now.
I also tried some Brugal and Coke, which was very good.

Xenono, I quit drinking a while back but I still have some bottles of world class rum in my pantry. The best Dominican rum is called aņejo. Everyone has their own favorite brand and you really can't go wrong with any of them. The stuff is fantastic as a sipping drink with just some ice.

the hottest gil i have ever had was from a disco in DR. she did not even ask me for money when i dropped her off the next morning.she just wanted an american bf. i gave her $50 for her pocket. then i saw her again the next night. took her out to a nice restaurant( $35)then back to my place for some drinks and a jacuzzi. i went for a $15 bottle of sparkling wine and had a fantastic evening. i left the next day and gave her the rest of my pesos...(around $40) i should have married her! na, just kidding. another trick i learned for newbies, hire a driver for the night. tell him you will pay him a nice tip to watch your back . i had a fantastic kid that was a tremendous help driving and helping me translate when needed.

She still got paid so it sounds like she was working well, she got you to hand over cash and you still think it was for free.

It's called the rope-a-dope. Give the sob story, cue White Knight stage left with dinero in hand. Often easier than selling a program up front, and White Knight feels better about it and will be more into doing it again.

Nope, just seen this a million times. If you gave her your email she'll be asking for money soon, and it sounds like you'll probably send her some.

J R, hmmmm were you on a tv show Dallas? Sounds like you had a good time, did you get a picture of her? I am looking for a good excuse to test the DR out and a hot pic of a non pro just might do it.
