Went onto Tracelocity.com and saw that these guys had their fares posted until April 2003. I booked X Mas for $505 while American charges $787 for that time.

Back in the 60s there were two Dominican airlines. Dominicana was the principal one with several jets. They flew to Miami, San Juan, and New York. Where else, right? The only problem was that ocassionally the president, J Balaguer, needed to go somewhere. He would show up at the airport with his machine gun totting military and police everywhere and they would commendeer the jet. Those were the days that visitors to the DR would have their first impression of the country being the many uniformed individuals in the airport with guns and rifles pointed in all directions.
The second airline was Quisqueyana. They flew some really old relics from the 50s. Weight concerns never seemed to be an issue with literally truck loads of boxes and suitcases being carried by every passenger. I once flew them from SJ to SD and prayed the whole trip. One of the engines on my side threw out a nonstop stream of something black and oily the entire trip. My window was completely streaked with it. No one gave a damn with all the passengers drinking and screaming (Dominicans don't talk, they scream),
