RT here. I am just tired of all the 'high-class' whorehouses here in Santo Domingo. Tired of the high drink prices (I paid $6 for a bottle of water the other night). And most of all, tired of paying (relatively) high prices for (at best) average service.

As I was going to the bank yesterday, I saw a neon sign that said 'Showgirls'. I went by the place last night to check it out.

I show up. The doorman asks me if I have a gun. When I tell him no, he welcomes me and opens the door. Straight ahead to the right is a small 5-seat bar. There are tables strewn throughout and a stage in the middle of the room, and what could either be a dance floor or second stage against the far wall. There's a staircase heading to the second floor.

And at 10:00 on a Saturday night, there were about a dozen girls working, and five customers. One of the girls had a beautiful body and a pretty face, three or four were above-average, a couple were beasts, and the rest were in the average-looking category.

One of the average girls walked up to me at the bar and took my drink order. She dropped off my water, shook her head in confusion as to why I wouldn't be drinking beer on a Friday, and went and sat down, allowing me to look the place over.

The club is not a pig sty, nor is it bright and shiny. It was pretty much just a bar with hookers. And air conditioning (a bonus). The bathroom, however, is another story. Stay out. Trust me -- you'll thank me later.

It's empty, except for us, and has a couch against one wall. She has me sit, and does a two song-air dance. During the second song, I take some initiative and open my pants for her.

Song three rolls around, she gets down on her knees, and does an excellent job of giving head (condoms were never discussed). I don't think that there was any time pressure, and if we had taken longer, there wouldn't have been an issue.

We got dressed and she agreed to let me get off a couple of photos. Downstairs, I paid for my drinks and tipped her 300 pesos (she did not ask for a tip). My water was 50 pesos and the girl's drink (screwdriver) was 300. The girl got a ficha with her drink.

When I left, I asked the doorman if he could get me a taxi. He was a little flustered, and suggested that I ask inside. I told him that I had a phone and just needed him to give the address to the dispatcher. He agreed and was thrilled & surprised with the 20 peso tip I gave him. A pleasure to deal with.

On the average, the higher-priced, touristy clubs have better-looking girls, but for a quick blowjob, this place did the trick.

Would I return? Yes. Will I pop in for a blow job from time to time? Absolutely. Would I consider spending $90 to take one of their girls out of the club? Well, if the really pretty girl quoted me that price for all night, I wouldn't hesitate. But otherwise, take out is more or less equally-priced at Casa Teresa or the Girls' House, with a better selection.

Your scaring me RT. Its sound like finding a 9 or 10 is far and few between. From the pics posted about DR, ITS SEEM LIKE QUALITY IS LOW. I want to find some 9's and 10's while I am there. I am heading to Santo Domingo, DR for Labor Day.

Have you looked into finding some non-pros?

I want to seek some nonpros from the local clubs plus a mix of Girl House, Lapsus. I have done Rio, Cartagena, and Medellin. Is this reasonable in my 5 day adventure?

RT here. Let's see:

Flight - $260 add $70 round trip to/from the airport. You're going with other guys, so your share is only $23.

Hotel - $220 (5 nights/ Mercure) plus 29% taxes (yes, 29%), that's another $64.00

Fun/Food/Chicas - $800. The girls from the clubs (Girls House, Casa Azul, etc.) will run a total of $125-$150 once you include your drinks, taxis, overpriced drinks for the girls, tips, etc. Three nights of that is $450. You can eat crappy food for $5-$10 per meal, but even a place like Tony Romas will chalk up a $40-$60 per person tab, especially if you drink (there's 29% in restaurants as well as hotels). Even if 2 out of every three meals are cheap, that's another $200 for food. Add in two nights of barhopping/civilian hunting, and I think that your $800 budget is a little low. You can save money if you stay out of the casas, but then you're taking a chance on missing out. And that doesn't include getting raked over the coals at blackjack.

Have you looked into finding some non-pros? No, I haven't. Sometimes they find me, what with me working here and having an apartment and American citizenship and all. But IMO, they are not worth the hassle. And, the average Dominican girl is not all that beautiful.

I've said this to many people who have asked me: I would not be in the Dominican Republic if I wasn't getting paid to do so. Since I am here, I try to make the best of it, but I WOULD NOT SPEND MY OWN MONEY TO COME HERE.

That being said, there are people who swear by this country. So that's just one person's opinion.

I think the women in Santo Domingo are far better looking than the ugly peasents up in Sosua. Those girls look like they come from the ass end of an African refugee camp. That said plenty of guys go to Sosua because it's dirt cheap. Personally, I would prefer to stay home and jerk off, it's more enjoyable and cheaper.

As far as Santo Domingo, the only way I would ever go back is if I had to for work. The best "provider" I had was the massage girl at one of the hotels, the chicas in the casas weren't that great service-wise and I did not like the constant crowding every time I left the front door of the hotel. Very, very stupid people and that's accounting for it being 3rd world. Let's just say they're many times more stupid than what I've seen elsewhere in Latin America.

Colleagues:

The only time I've been to the DR was when I went to relax after a very stressful work period. I stayed at an all inclusive in Punta Cana, solo. It did the trick, I learned about Presidente (Impressive) and, I had a nice time but, now I am thinking of returning there next month for some relaxing but with hobbying on my mind. I'd rather spend a little more dough for a quality time than hit a dive to save greenbacks. I can't imagine being in the DR for more than 3 nights so if I drop a few Cs for a night I can live with that. I read all the posts about Remingtons including the last one that says it is shut down. Is that the case? Never reopened? Please be so kind as to recommend the equivalent of a 4 star hotel that is chica friendly and the three best clubs for take out por toda la noche. Thank you very much and if anyone cares to do a comparison with Jaco, CR please be so kind as to do so as I am also thinking about it as an alternative destination.

If you like latinas, then check out Blazer's report on cartagena, colombia. The prices are not that diffferent from DR but I'm confident in saying you'll get a lot better value (looks-wise) for your money.
