La Romana is the town that is close to Casa de Campo, which is a great golf resort at reasonable prices.
The town itself is a real s---hole, but almost any girl there can be had for a reasonable price.
The only decent club is Il Deseo, which is in the middle of downtown-- everybody knows where it is. If you are staying at Casa, you can get a caddy to arrange transportation and translation services. All the girls at the club are hookers, but they are nicely presented and many can be considered in the 7.5 to 9 rating range. Prices are generally abt $60 US for a one hour session. There are sleasy rooms out back where the girls take you once you reach agreement. They speak little or no English so a translator can come in handy. In general, the prices are high at this club, but seems to be very safe and will be the only one recommended by the staff at Casa. There are many other clubs and bars in town, and any caddy or cab driver will be glad to arrange a tour, but it is hard to say how safe it is. The people seem very nice, but DR is a very poor country so you have to be careful. Aids is very widespread here so safe sex is the only realistic option.
I have heard that you can have girls back to the resort but have not experience with that, but I do know that some guys had a lot of fun with one of the massage girls on the staff of the resort.

If you are in this area of the country don't miss visiting Los Altos De Chavon. It is an artistic creation built along some bluffs overlooking a large river below. The place is beautiful and easily worth the time spent visiting. Overnight accomodations are possible.

It doesn't look especially Dominican but then outside of the old part of downtown Santo Domingo there is little in the country of architectural interest. This is more like something out of an old European fantasy of castles and the like.

It was built in the late 70s or so when the country started to make a push for tourism. About the same time businesses started appearing in SD with "native" painting and other art work. None of them were the least bit Dominican but the tourists have never seemed to mind. A number of famous singers have appeared at Los Altos including Frank Sinatra and Julio Iglesias.

Tried a few small clubs in town but nothing even remotely interesting. Maybe it was too early. We ended up going to El Deseo Night Club. When I arrived I realized once again I had been fortunate. This place was incredible and I knew I would not be needing to look elsewhere during my time in the La Romana area.

El Deseo is on the outskirts of La Romana on the main road coming in from Santo Domingo. Just past a Shell gas station. Long pink metal gate with a good size parking lot in front. Blue swordfish on the roof. Oval sign up on a pole in front with Night Club (in blue) El Deseo (in pink). The girl and dance pole on the sign should clue in even the casual observer that there are girls here. Inside it must be 2500 sq.ft. easily.

I went to El Deseo on two consecutive evenings and had a blast. Huge dancing floor, bar and lounge area. Each night 15-20 girls. Several 6s & 7s, some 8s and a couple 9s. Not too crowded at all when I went so plenty of selection and the girls all eager to be your companion. The rooms in back are OK but not the greatest. The first night, after hanging out for an hour, I chose a girl named Kenya Elizabeth. 1600p for 1.5 hours in one of the rooms (small studio apartments) in back. The second night I brought another girl (can't remember the name) back to my cabana for 1.5 hours, 2000p. Yes I probably paid a "tourist tax" but I had no complaints. Both girls were an 8, around 20 yo, friendly and provided good service.

I was told and read that El Deseo is the best. I arrived Thursday night before 11p and found over 30 girls and only 2 guys. After an hour of sitting and chatting with three or four girls, still no new men entered. The girls ranged from shy ones that I had to approach, to aggressive ones, to one that actually asked me for a drink before asking my name (she got a mini-lecture in how to be a club pro from me for that).

I found two or three really cute young girls, and many 6-7s (doable). I had to pay entrance of 500p, which I actually paid on exit as the doorman had walked away after telling me I’d have to pay a cover charge. I don’t remember reading that there was a cover charge – so maybe I was hit with a gringo fee? I thought he said 50p earlier, but he was about to get harsh with me for questioning his insistence on 500p so I just paid it. I sat with a few different girls before picking the one I wanted, Xermina or Jermina or something like that, and then asked if we could go to her room. I told her I would pay 1,000p to her and 500p to the house, 2 hours minimum (she said time would be no problem), and she was happy with the arrangement. I said it’s what I always pay there (a lie, it was my first visit). At the gate, the houseman said something to her in Spanish which I didn’t understand, but I could understand her reply of “no, he’s not a gringo, only 500p.”

Drinks at the bar were very reasonable, no rip off pricing.

I had planned to hit other working girl clubs like Tubo and Studio2000, but never made it. I did stop by a place called Dominican House, but I was not impressed with the girls.

Other club options are Tubo and Studio2000, but I didn’t have opportunity to visit them.
