Went to Aztec Massage twice on a recent visit (one session just yesterday). Don't know that I can add anything to what's already been said. I got a great massage each time, and there was no sex or any hint that there could be, just great massages. Fee is $20, paid after the massage. The $10 hand washing is not worth the bother. It's best to get the shower after the massage to wash off some of the oil they use. When they take you to the shower, take your clothes with you, and exit after the shower.

The massages are real professional. They left me feeling very relaxed. They work every muscle, and it's probably good for your health. I would highly recommend this to everyone visiting Tijuana. When I went in, I even saw couples come in for a massage. It appears that the staff is all female, somewhat young and attractive, but it turns out you don't spend much time looking at the massage therapist. They do stay clothed, but there is some inevitable skin contact during the massage.

I went in that place a while back. Good massage but the club down stairs was so damn loud it kind of detracted from the relaxation aspect. I would like to find a legitimate massage place similar but more peaceful environment. I'm not really interested in other services that are offered at outrageous prices at most TJ massage places.

I agree that the disco thunder coming from downstairs detracts from the ability to really get into the flow of the massage. However, most of the massage rooms aren't directly above the club and are mostly or totally insulated from this problem. If the place isn't crowded, tell the receptionist you don't want a disco massage and to put you in one of the rooms in the back beyond the shower room.

On my two visits, the vibrations from the club downstairs could be felt somewhat, but it wasn't annoying. The massage rooms pipe in soothing music, and they keep the lights turned down. For anyone who is interested but hasn't tried this place yet, I should mention that the receptionist speaks english, and you pay on the way out. The person giving the massage may not speak any english, so it's helpful to know a few approving words like "bueno" and "muy bueno" to encourage her. None pressed for a tip, but I did tip five bucks each time for what I thought was exceptionally good service.

It's on the southwest corner of 2nd and Revolucion. It's up on the third floor (I think... perhaps anyone who's actually been inside there can verify...LOL). There's an internet cafe immediately below it on the Revo side.

Entrance is on the 2nd St. side. You'll see a long, narrow stairway leading upward.

I do give Aztec a recommendation if you are interested in a good massage with no extra services.

$5 to $10 is the standard tipping scale of massaging. $5 is good plus, $7 is for real good, and $9 on up is for the best, favorite ladies, ect. 40 pesos would be acceptable as long as you don`t request her again or end up with her. They don`t press for tips or anything there. It`s a class establishment for sure.

Azteca gets an AAA+++ in my book. I've only been one time and had a great legit massage and only paid $20+$7tip. Where could you get that kind of massage in the US for that price? I was in nirvanna after this massage.

I get into town on Monday or Wednesday evening every week. After an all night sex marathon. I get up at 8am. After a shower I go and hit the streets. After a nice round with a day calle chica. I then strolled Revo and have breakfast.

There's nothing more relaxing and feeling like a king then getting a legit massage for $20.

Damn, I've been going for years and didn't know they had a $25 full hour massage (standard is $20 for 45 minute massage plus shower time). It's not listed on the price board and has never been mentioned to me as an option even though I'm very well known in there. The one time I asked about extended sessions the receptionist told me I could get a double session (90 minutes of massage) for $40. You are right that it is better to visit Azteca during quieter hours than Saturday afternoon. Along with the waits, they will make you bring your clothes to the shower where getting dressed and put back together is cramped, WET, and uncomfortable.

Poppabear, if you are a steady customer well known to the receptionist, she will cut you a break on the "reservation" if you plead adequately. She won't let you leave and return precisely in 2 hours if that is the waiting time, but she always allows me to leave and return about 15-20 minutes before the time the masajista I have requested will become available.

Erip - in the past I always paid $25 for a session while other mongers kept saying that they were only paying $20. I was wondering if I was getting ripped off until I recently found out that I was getting a 60-minute massage (which is what I was always specifically asking for because that's the automatic amount of time for a massage where I come from) instead of 45 minutes. I was even happier when I did the math and figured out that paying $25 for an hour was a better bargain than $20 for 45 minutes.

Ootie, you were way ahead of us..at least me. Long time ago I inquired about longer massages than the standard session and the receptionist mentioned only the double time option for $40 (90 minutes). Since the full hour $25 massage wasn't mentioned by her or listed on their service board, I didn't know it was available until a few months ago. Previously when posters referenced hour sessions, I thought they were referring to the fact that adding dressing and shower time results in your total session going about an hour. I've been doing nothing but full hour massages with my favoritas since I acquired enlightenment. I also tip a couple of bucks more when I do the full hour.

For reasons that are not entirely clear, Aztec has been closed now for more than a week. The security guard claims they will be reopening this Wednesday.

I suspect the municipal authorities and the local tourist board would be pleased if they vacated their very high profile location. In their minds even a legitimate massage parlor has no place on Tijuana's most famous street especially if the owners are not able or willing to pay the bribes that the strip clubs do.

Maybe it's just me but I'm skeptical that they would close just to remodel. If they did and with the peso slipping, I would think a rate increase wouldn't be too surprising.

Aztec closed on April 23 but I've heard it is back up and running. One of the showers/bathrooms was not working on the Thursday before so it may have been just what they said, "closed for repairs". Other than the Church off of Heroes, this is the only legit place in TJ.

According to El Mexicano, Aztec was closed by the state health department because the girls didn't have the required certification as masajistas.

Where is 'aguas minerales de santa fe'? What's there terms. I like to get a good, real massage before finding my relief in the form of a street girl or two. Azteca is alright but the music from the damn club down stairs totally blows the relaxation aspect of it plus I'm so spoiled from the massages I get in Asia, that the Azteca massage isn't doing it for me anymore. Sorry on the name of the place, it is called Valparaiso Hot Springs, Hotel and Spa. It is in Colonia Mineral Santa Fe. I was introduced to this place by some locals and they called it 'aguas minerales de santa fe'. I found a website with address and phone number (www.sdro.com/valparaiso/p03.htm). The basic direction from Pueblo Amigo center is to head east and it is maybe about 1/2 mile from the street where you would turn left and head for the airport (basically 5 minutes from Pueblo Amigo). The last time I was there was around this time last year. It was $60 for an hour and a half. Not all massage, the first 20-30 minutes is soaking in an herbal hot tub. Then the masseuse comes in and gives you a massage for a little over an hour. They have several packages, including mud wraps and other health spa type stuff. If I remember correctly around 5 pm is about the latest start time. Call them or email them and see if they have any more info available on the net.

nope traveler, nothing to add, legit is legit, you ain't gonna get a 20 something hardbod, although there was only one available who did give me a massage, but it was just a massage, what azteca may have is girls that are just as nice looking as the girls at ejecutivo, new body (if still open), ruths, mermaids, luxor etc, giving you a 1/2 assed massage and not telling you to turn over after 5 minutes. This is a legit place, they cater to people who come in there and want a good massage, handjobs, blowjobs, full service, etc are most likely out of the question, and some of the masseuses you would not want to screw around with. But you can give it a try if you want. Anything is negotiable in TJ. I am not a good client over there, I go maybe 3 or 4 times a yr, so I couldn't tell you about the vip service there. I have been to azteca before and can agree they have a few good looking girls giving rubdowns. But I have never pushed the envelope at azteca and really don't here about anyone else that has, in fact, I haven't heard of anyone even getting a handjob at azteca.

Concarne, this isn't directed to you because you're not whining - only suggesting it may be a bad move businesswise. But whenever I see posts on this site viciously attacking some slice of Mexico commerce because they raised their price I cringe. I wonder how many U.S. goods and services go 8 years without a price increase...and how many of us mongers don't demand more compensation from our bosses each year, or raise prices our businesses charge for goods and services.

Mongerx, it is a good question but keep in mind it is also apples and oranges as Azteca is no more than a place to get a therapeutic, sometimes teasing rubdown. It isn't an MP/Bordello.

In my 8 year experience, there is technically no change in the AB/CC prices for standard 30 minute sessions. AB ranged $40-60 all things being equal in 1997, and it still does. The difference is that $40 is tough to get from any kind of a looker now unless there is no business, you are a sharp dealer, or you know the chica well. In 1997, $40 was common. $50 is now the "going rate" for the majority of AB chicas. However, more than ever before will bargain hard for $60. Only a couple of superhotties will try to get you to pay more.

CC had more of a $50-60 range in 1997 with most chicas bargaining hard for $60. A decent percentage of CC superbabes routinely asked for $70-80 or even more in 1997, but most accepted $60 under normal business conditions. Now, the only thing that has changed in CC is fewer chicas ask for more than $60. So CC actually has less price pressure in 2005 than in 1997.

Other price comparisons: AB/CC hotels were $10 for short-term in '97. Now they are $11 - CC hotel maybe $12. However, AB rooms for the night were freely available in the low $20's. Now they are well up into the $30's I believe with the casual receipient of an all night room feeling like a lottery winner since the mofo clerks don't like to rent rooms for the night.

Standard yellow cab ride between linea and zona was $5 in '97. A few years ago some cabbies aggressively insisted on $6-7, though $5 rides were not difficult to find. Now with a new dominant player on the scene, the metered Taxi Libres, it is a $2-3 ride depending on if or how much you tip.

Cerveza has gone up about half a buck a bottle in AB, and a quarter in CC. Ficha drinks were $6 in AB, now $7 (though they've introduced some ficha traps like the $11 Red Bull and Bud Lite). Ficha drinks in AB were $7 (I believe), now LOWERED to $6 (chica gets 1 ficha instead of 2).

In general, a daytrip to the zona costs about the same as it did in 1997. We could never dream of applying the zona rate of inflation to our commercial lives in the U.S.

I'm referring only to the AB/CC world which you specifically inquired about. SG prices are higher than before - but SG quality in terms of looks, is about 1000 times better than in the mid to late 90's. As all too well documented here, the Cascades hotel which was a favorite overnight destination of SG mongers, now demands a charge of several dollars for each chica you bring to the room after your first dip.

No apparent change in the price structure and the "small bars" like LC or BT - to the extent that you don't bring numerous chicas to La Cascades.
