Out past the re-vamped "Cinco y diez," directly across the street from Plaza Carussel, sits the home of Tijuana's premier American-style Salad Bar...
Loaded with the types of embellishments (grated carrots, mushrooms, cheese, dill pickle slices, black olives, ripe red tomatos, fresh lettuce, etc.) long taken for granted in their own land-- yet rarely found in Tijuana-- by "los estadounidenses," Sirloin Stockade's salad bar has played an integral role in its drive to displace California Buffet as the Tijuana middle-class' No. 1 feeding-trough destination...
Moving beyond the Salad Bar, unfortunately, one will find runny lasagne, cold Garlic Bread, and uninspiring BBQ ribs-- which unquestionably serves to put a damper on any overt enthusiasm that one might initially feel upon entering...
...But at a weekend adult rate of 92 pesos (!)-- that's 82 pesos for adult #1 and just 10 pesos for adult #2-- the adventurous Monger-- err, Hombre-- will at least take some comfort as he slurps down a homemade chocolate/caramel sundae and reaches to see if there is enough jingle-jangle in the old pocket to tip the parking guy...
Oh yeah, for the Gringo-averse: that far out on AguaCaliente, rest assured that if you do travel to Sirloin Stockade, you WILL be the only Gringo in attendance...

An update: The 10-peso oferta for the 2nd adult is good Monday thru Saturday after 7pm...The place is pretty busy on Friday and Saturday nights; I recommend a weeknight trek-out with your favorita/novia or whoever-- she'll love the romantic drive out on AguaCaliente...
On Fridays the feature is fish and they typically have smoked salmon and Ensenada-style breaded fish...Not bad...Plus the dessert bar is stocked to the gills with gummi bears...I always walk out of there with a pocket or two full of 'em...
Repeat after me: Mexicanas LOVE all-you-can-eat buffets, Mexicanas LOVE all-you-can-eat buffets, Mexicanas LOVE...repeat as necessary...
