BRAND NEW on Revolution immediately adjacent to the Rio Rita bar and upwards. The concierge claims it has been open about a month. I was offered to be shown the BRAND NEW ROOMS, but had to decline at the time.
According to the concierge, the rooms are $51US every day of the week.
From the business card:
50 deluxe rooms, cable tv, shopping mall, restaurants. Tel: (6) 688-3739 and 685-8379 E-mail: riorita@telnor.net
Nowhere on the card though, did it say anything about "soundproof", or "quiet"...

How big are the rooms at Rio Rita?
Fordsy:
The rooms are about the same size as the new, Deluxe rooms at the VdeZ-- which means they are smaller than the Executive and Basic rooms at the VdeZ...They are also bigger than the Basic rooms over at Hotel America...

The other important question is……
Is it quiet?
Those bars on Rev can be awfully loud sometimes.

There's another important question:
Chica Friendly?? Last time I heard a report the answer was that it is NOT. Have they made recent adjustments for us mongers?
By Gitano on Monday, May 13, 2002 - 03:47 pm: Edit |
Any upscale rooms YB ?
Gitano: Regarding upscale rooms, I do not know precisely because I have never asked about them...I and my girl have been satisfied with the rooms "as-is" and haven't felt a need to upgrade...
That said, it is my opinion that they do not have upgraded rooms-- I am pretty sure they are all appointed the same...If they do have them, they would be on the upper floors as I am familiar with most of the rooms on the first floor and they appear to all be the same...
Doubles are available-- that is, rooms with two beds...
In any event, the rooms are new and nice...You will like it there...
YoungBrig
Erip: I have always registered for two and stayed there with my girlfriend...No problems whatsoever with this...
However, if a Monger-- sorry, Hombre-- were parading multiple chicas then there *could* be an issue...Just like there is at the VdeZ-- actually America may be the easiest in regards to slipping past security-- just speculating here...
Anyway, Rio Rita I think is a good option if you are looking at a TLN experience or if you have a favorita and are looking to get out of the Cascadas thing...The rooms ARE relatively nice and you are not paying PA prices in order to enjoy a nice evening...
My girl-- who lived a middle class existence in Monterrey before coming to TJ-- really likes the Rio Rita...
Its worth checking-out...

Dimone:
No noise issues from Revo...You will get some noise from the Beverly Hills Club below if you take a room next to the recepcion desk...Ask for a room towards the back...Simply tell them that you are concerned about excessive noise from the Club below...

I just got a room here on tuesday night.
I checked in quickly and when I said that I was regertering for 2 they gave me a double room (2 single beds - $59). I was in a hurry to find a perticuler girl before she left for the night, so I did not have them change it.
The rooms are nice and clean. Nice big shower with a good shower head and plenty of hot water. Good T.V. whith cable.
I was in romm 109 just down the hall from reception. Noise was not a real problem. The music from the club below was loud enough to bearly hear. In fact the only real annoying noise was the barkers talking to each other out front.
The only thing I dident like was that the beds were hard and getting harrased by the barkers for the strip club next door every time I came in or went out alone.
They never questioned me about bringing Rosa Maria to the room. When she showed up alone the next day they called the room for me to come and get her.
Otherwise it is a good hotel choice but I only stayed for one night becouse I found a decent place (Super 8 Hotel - on 9th & Constitution) for $37 a night.
I will post about the Super 8 later.

Dimone, Are their room upgrades? Hoping for some added ammenities like a desk or at least a table with chairs, coffemaker, large tub, etc...
Im going down in the next couple of weeks, probably like a wednesday to sunday trip. Doesnt sound like you needed reservations... did you?
Thanks!

No need for reservations. they ahd alot of empty rooms. In fact all of the passageway lights were out on the third floor so they must not even be using it.
I did not ask about upgraded rooms. Before I checked out about half the doors on the first floor were open for cleaning, so I walked around and looked in but they all looked about the same. There are a couple of corner rooms that appear to be larger and may be upgraded rooms.
I will stop by tonight and ask what kind of rooms are availble and report back here tonight or tomarrow.

Fordsy,
I just talked to the desk clerk. He said that they have some bigger room with a refrigerator and even a couch where you would have more room to spread out and work. All of the rooms just have a shower but NO bath tub.
They do not have coffee makers or microwaves in any of the rooms. They do however have coffee for guests in the lobby.
The hotels e-mail address is at the top of this thread. You may want to e-mail them to find out exactly how they have the bigger rooms outfitted.

Hey Dimone,
Thanks for the great info! I headed down in afew weeks and am going with rio rita. Nice rooms on the Rev. and a few blocks from the zone...PERFECT! Just hope I can get a chica or two into the room without problems with the reception desk.
Anyone have recent experiences at the Hotel Rio Rita? I'm wondering about any 'new' information regarding this place.
TIA,
StrikeEagle

I stayed at Rio Rita last September for one night. Everything was the same as my stay in May (Posted above).
No problems with bringing girls to the room, the place was nice and clean and the staff seemed professional. The night I was there was a week night so there were not many guests but they put me in a room on the second floor (the floor above the reception area). The room was exactly the same as the one I stayed in during my May visit.

This place has changed hands and the new owners have renamed it Hotel España. They slashed the week day rates 40 por cent for a while.

Reytj,
Do you know with the change in ownership if the hotel is now chica friendly? Years ago it was but somewhere along the line they changed policy and really made it difficult to bring a girl back. Any idea of the current policy?
