They should be executed for degrading Mexican cuisine. We have tried to give them business several times at different locations, but they still sucked and sucked big. Prices are cheap, but food and service are worst than Mom&Pop's shop in front of CC. Surprisingly, these joints seemed to be semi-packed everytime we visited. They should be ashamed of themselves for serving bad Mexican food.
Do not waste your bones here. I take more pleasure and pride supporting my Mom&Pop's shop in front of CC, the "pussy tacos" guys in front of AB, or the clams cart guy around the corner. Sanborn's sucks weed!!!

"They should be executed for degrading Mexican cuisine."
You ain't kidding. Try the watery fajitas served with dinner rolls with no tortillas in sight, and mole sauces thicker than rebar. I've had good service though and you can't go too wrong with breakfast compared to other options anyway. Fresh OJ is heaven, and coffee is at least BREWED.

The only good thing about Sanborns is that they are better than California Grill and La Placita. Talk about "damning with faint praise."

Be aware: There is one Sanborns inside the Plaza Rio (open 24 hours and as bad as the one on Revo btw 3rd and 4th). Both should be avoided at all cost
The one on the picture is like the SAnborns on Revo btw 7th and 8th. The later ones are great places to meet people and chat. However, the coffee is close to undrinkable and the food is awful.
They are meeting and greeting places and nothing else.

Sanborns is not as bad as everyone says. I've had good breakfasts there, and with pretty good service. True, it is like Denny's, but desayuno can be good.

Thanks for the update guys. But I have 2 questions:
1) I read in another site catering to TJ mongerers that Sanborns is very good. These posts say otherwise.
2) I have seen this place and it always seems crowded with locals. I don't get it. If it is bad, why do locals go there and why is it crowded?
Maybe you guys saved me a bad meal as I have never been there, so don't interpret this as a challenge, but as a question.

I've eaten several times at the Sanborn's in Plaza Rio and the one on Revolución and 8th. The food is mediocre and somewhat expensive. If you must eat on Revolución and you want Mexican food, I suggest you try La Especial down the stairs on the east side of Revolución, probably between 3rd and 4th (but I may be off a block or so).
