It seems that no matter how much things change, the more they stay the same. This bar (abbreviated BC) is a nice place to stop and rewind. The floor is carpeted with a nice generous padding under the carpet. The bar is very dark inside during the floorshow. Dance/stage floor is elevated about 3FT.

Beer is only 19Pesos MX or $2.25 US and is 2 for 1. I don't drink mixed drinks so I don't know the price. These prices were good as of yesterday at 7PM. Don't know the hours of the bar.

The music is a mix of MX and US and not all that loud.
Just opened on Saturday the 4th of August.

Location, Just to the south of the Bar Majestic on Ninos Heroes across from the western end of the alley.

I've been there, the meseros haven't tried to steal my change even once. Big main room, and they have a private booth where you can ..."kiss them all over"... One part of a stageshow had 3 young chicas come out at once. Then they hit the audience doing (less than) 1 minute, $1 lap dances, I liked it.

where exactly is it located at? let me know

i have been here about 12 times.
its now just a local guys hangout.
very few chics are around
nice looking place inside.
waiters are good.
the chics that are here are kinda fat with maybe 1 or 2 that are skinny or good looking.

i have no idea about this private room.
i asked them before if they have a special area - they said no

please tell me where this private area is ?

like all small bars there are diamonds in the rough - here if you come alot you will find one too.

You're kidding right? A nice place? This is the farthest thing from a nice place. This place to me is a shit hole, the signs are all hand written, the waiters couldn't find their asses with both hand, it's dark, it smells, the girls are some of the UGLIEST creatures I've seen walk the face of the earth, if they have a "private area" I hope to GOD I'm never in it.

But I go here all the time, the waiters are dumb and incompent but honest. and for 19 pesos for two beers, it's the best price in the Zona. We'll usually start off here catch a cheap buzz then do the Zona Crawl.

Spent a short time in Club California Sunday evening around 11pm. The waiters are honest or at least mine was. No hustle. There were about 20 people. Hard to tell some of the customers from the workers. Strippers alternate. One male stripper and one female stripper. So some girls sitting around are customers waiting for the male strippers. Low key place but everyone is friendly.

Beers are 2 for $3.00 or Premium Beers are 2 for $4.00. Oh, and you get free chips. You can use the lime for either the beer or the chips.

Located across from the end of the alley on Ninos Heroes.

Are those female customers doable? Are they gringas or otherwise?

I would say that two were doable maybe three. One customer and one bar girl. Several of the customer girls were plastered.

I was at the stage. The waiter decided to sit right beside me but one table back. He askes if that was ok. I think he was trying to protect his turf and stake out me as his customer. I said sure have a seat. Then he practiced his english with me. We talked a lot. Refilled my taco chip plate. One girl came up and sat with him. Then another. He asked if I wanted either or both at my table. One of those two girls were doable.

I was asking him questions and he pointed out the manager. Also, he wanted to give me a stack of flyers to hand out to my gringo friends. I was the only gringo in the place but it is gringo friendly. Some people were sitting in the back row near the entrance on the right when you walk in. They seemed to keep busy with the bar girls and I could not really tell what quality was there.

Small enough selection on this night that YMMV. However, some girls seemed to come and go while I was there. One girl customer got up on the stage with the mail dancer and did some suggestive dancing.

Sarai-- the legendary teenage crystal queen-- is known to wander into this bar occasionally and drink with her amigas...

If you've got a thing for her and find her in here and manage to get her back to your room, be prepared to invest in some light bulbs...

That said, some of my reliable Monger friends says that she is working late nights at Chavelas, so you might be able to catch her there...Supposedly she is looking better than ever, if you are into the flaca and spaced-out thing...

At heart, she actually is a rather decent person, by the way...

A buddy and myself stopped in Sunday night and I had gone the Thursday night before as well. A very laid back club. Beer was 2 for $3 and I got an agua mineral for $2. The chicas here are decent looking and both times I've been in the club there haven't been many customers. I'm talking under 5 both times. The cerveza for the chica's is $5.75. They also have a private room that you can use with a chica. To use it you have to buy the seniorita a cubeta (a bucket with 6 cervezas for the chica).

One of the best things I noticed is that although the music is loud in the club, it is not as loud as the other clubs. You can actually carry on a decent conversation with a chica in this club. I think this club would make a great escape from AB or CC on a Friday or Saturday night when they are packed to the rafters. My buddy's novia says it is tranquil on those nights also.

If possible avoid the tall mesaro, as he charged $2 for the agua mineral and the mesero (waiter) the other night charged $1.75 both times. No big deal, but I think he's pulling a minor ripoff to increase his tips. Also my buddy's novia wasn't in the club and he said he telephoned her and she would be arriving in 20 minutes. She never showed. I think he was just trying to get us to stay for several more drinks.

One final point: According to the sign over the door, the proper name for this bar is "Club California" instead of Bar California as this thread states.|

Club California is no more. It has morfed into a pool hall.
