Hey everybody. It appears I may be able to visit the great land of TJ at the end of November. I'll be arriving on a Wed. night and leave Saturday morning. It that time, I have many things to see and do.

P&B is closer to the Zona, Pussycats is on the opposite side of the street and up a little bit. They are both on Rev, so I would not call either of them Ratero central.

I recommend Pussycats, it seems to be more consistent than P&B IMO. Last time I was there the following nastiness occurred:

I would not worry about getting mugged on Revolucion. The areas of concern are 1st Street and Constitucion. When you are in La Zona Norte be very alert and walk in the street. Be careful of the traffic however. Watching your back is the name of the game.

Don't let the mugging issue slow you down. Just be aware. If money is not a concern, then take a cab in and out of the Zone. That is always the safest way to go. I recommend that for newbies.

Hello I was wondering how far is HongKong Bar from Pussycat,P&B,Zona & Beverly Hills?Are ALL the stripclubs in the same area?Are there cheap hotel in the center of ALL the stripclubs?

Hong Kong is in the Zona Norte among all the SGs, hooker and ficha bars. The others you mention are in the Revo tourist district very close together.

HK and the other zona attractions are only a few blocks walking from P&B and Beverly Hills but it is a different species from the Revo clubs. HK is equal part strip club and true hooker club...i.e. you can get lap dances and VIP room type services on-premises, or you can take the chicas to an adjacent commonly owned hotel (Cascades) for typical 30 minute zona norte sessions at $50-60 though it isn't uncommon for HK chicas to try to get up to $80 per session.

The Revo joints are primarily strip clubs with lap dances and stealthy on-premises facilities for sex. However, using those facilities or taking chicas to nearby hotels can be preposterously expensive, and you are subject to being ripped off by the chica and other club personnel, and even hassled by the police since the Revo tourist area is an area where prostitution is not officially tolerated as it is in the zona norte. Revo dancers are usually hookers to be sure, but arranging sex with them is a cautious production with all kinds of hustlers trying to get a piece of the action, whereas getting laid in the zona norte is routine business.

So if you want to play around you can enjoy yourself at Beverly Hills or P&B and other clubs. But when you want to get down to the most serious business you are much better off at HK, Adelita Bar, Chicago and the other zona norte clubs, especially if you're a newbie.

Cascadas does have the policy one girl per night for the price of your room, additional girls will cost $12.00 each. Other than that it is the best place to stay in the zona imo. Adelita's hotel is okay but they usually will not rent you a room on weekends, they are so busy they need them all for the girls going up. You may have a chance if you get there during the week and carry over but I wouldn't count on it. Also not all girls will go to all hotels so depending on which girls you are targeting Cascadas policy may or may not be an issue.

I actually live in TJ now so my experience with hotels is based on previous years but I assume things haven't changed in the past year.

OK, I think you will have a blast!!

Here are some answers and some advice....

From the San Diego Airport you need to take a bus to the trolley stop. Do a search on here and you will find a link to the bus and trolley schedules. Figure it will cost you about $3 and an hour to an hour and a half to get from the airport to the border.

At the border walk straight across thru the turnstiles and get in a cab to Adelitas. Should be $5-7 for the trip.

Check the hotel just to the right of the entrace to Adelitas and see if you can get a room. It's a decent place to stay for (about) $35 a night. You may or may not get a key - but try asking!

If they don't have rooms, there are other options:

Cascadas: Great location, the hotel HK chicas use, but they do charge an extra $12 after the first chica.

Leyva: Next to the CHicago Club, less likely street girls will go there, but no limit on chicas.

Rizo de Oro: Next to Tropical, owned by the same people as Cascadas.

Realize that all of these are basically within a 2 block area where the hooker clubs are. Using Adelitas as the center, Rize de Oro is across the street in the same block, the Leyva is kitty corner to the right diagonally across the intersection, and the others are in the same block as Adelitas.

Hong Kong is behind Adelitas on the other side of the block. It is really a small neighborhood.

For washing teeth and drinking stop in to any of the dozen small stores along the block and buy some bottled water.

Personally I like the Leyva the best - plenty of hot water, fairly clean rooms, a little more quiet than the Cascadas. Trade off is not as good a location.

As far as laundry, there are a couple of places that do laundry in the Zona. Not something I have ever done there, but I have heard it's OK....

Oh ya, and many of the clubs don't get going till late.... be sure to check out at least the Chicago Club (after 10 or so at night), Adelitas, and Hong Kong. If you want to explore a little try Tropical and Las Chevelas for a more "Mexican" experience.

Realize that the chicas make money off of drinks you buy for them. Many will hit you up for drinks, even if you have no interest in having sex with them. (At the more Mexican bars, not all the chicas will have sex with you - some JUST drink and dance!!)

Your drinks will cost $2-3 for beer and/or water or soft drinks. The chicas drinks will cost $6-12 depending on what drink and what club. ASK first if you aren't sure!!

But understand that staying at Leyva or any other Zona Norte hotel or club will not expose you to TJ or Mexican culture in general. Understand that Zona Norte and all the businesses and people in it exist for one thing only: sex, or supporting the customers and women who engage in it.

If you want more of a sampling of the "other" Mexico, you'll have to stay at one of the other hotels outside ZN (the ones noted by Metalboots are OK). Even then, you really won't be interacting with any Mexicans or getting to know the culture in any significant way. I'd suggest just staying in ZN and living it up for what it's worth. It's a shithole, and the hotels are as well. Don't be expecting room service, carpeting, and high-speed internet in every room. You should be satisfied with hot water. And bring some shower shoes!

Dude, where are you coming from? Cascades probably is your best bet, but don't be looking to book online!!!! If you want an idea of the hotel "and what it has to offer" here it is: a front desk where a guy gives you a key to your room, and a room with a cold floor, a basic bed (slightly better than military standards), a sink and a walk-in shower. Some of the rooms have a TV- with about 3 channels on it.

I have the feeling that you are expecting a bellman to take your bags, sit in the lobby bar, and kick it poolside. That's NOT going to happen. You're not going to Cabo San Lucas, your going to hell (which I prefer to Cabo nonetheless).

Please don't expect too much in the way of decent surroundings; ZN is an overall dump. But it is a cool place to hangout and be a scumbag for a day or two. I'm not knocking the place either-- I'm in TJ 3-5 times every week. It's fun, but I fear that you are expecting a "real" hotel with "real" ("nice") restaurants and "real" ("nice") stores around. You'll have to leave Zona Norte for that.

That's why I gave you a list - NONE of these hotels will "really" take reservations. Leyva says they will, but they always give mine away if I don't get there early enough.

You have to realize, as said above, you are going to a cesspool. You are lucky to get hot water in these places (many do NOT have water in the rooms - only a shared toilet in the hallway!).

That's why there is so much discussion about things like "Where is the best place to take a dump in La Zona". (Do you really WANT toilet paper??? AND a toilet seat???)

Next topic is some advice on where you should eat. How soon do you leave??? (I'll aim for tomorrow....)

Budget wise is REAL hard to say, so much depends on each person and what they want, etc. Rough estimate figure:

Taxis - $5 per trip
Hotel (sleeping) - $30-40 per night
Hotel (sex) - $12 per half hour
Your drinks - $2-3 each
Chica drinks - $6-8 each
Tips - waiters, room boys, dancers - $1 each
Chicas - $50-70 each half hour session
Meals - $5-12 each
Snacks, bottled water, etc. - same as USA

I am considered a big spender by many, but personally I figure $300 - 500 for each night I will be in TJ.

Realize that often includes taking a chica out for a nice dinner and to a nicer hotel, often for the entire night.

My typical time in TJ goes like this:

Arrive 3PM, taxi from border ($5) to a hotel with a room I like and check in ($35 - 120). Run over to the alley behind Adelitas for a quickie with a street girl ($30). (Gets the pressure off).

Wander around to Tropical, LC, Adelitas and see what's happening. Meet up with friends. Have some drinks ($30). Tip some dancers ($25).

Around 7PM meet friends and/or chica and take a taxi ($7) to dinner at a nice place ($50 - 80). Taxi back to Zona or Hotel. ($8).

If spending the night with a chica we might go dancing, drinking, or whatever ($20). Then back to the hotel for the night. Breakfast would be room service ($30). Chica would be usually $200 plus for the night. (I have paid from a low of $70 to a high of $400.)

If I go back to La Zona, it is usually gonna be drinks with friends ($40), some chica drinks ($40), some dollar tips ($30), some snacks ($5), and probably a session with a chica ($100 plus $22 for the hotel). I have been known to tip chicas just for looking cute, and I often give the DJ a few bucks (NOT at Adelitas!!).

As you can tell, I look at it as a vacation - so I don't like to be restricted by a lack of $$. I figure I already have a major investment in time getting to TJ and getting away from WORK, so.....

Next day I get up late, eat breakfast, check out the street girls, visit an Internet Cafe, maybe catch a movie or go people watch at the mall, then hit Tropical for their 3PM show and start it all over again.

Bleachers, my first time in TJ (actully my second, but the first was years earlier), I stayed at the Pueblo Amigo and, with few exceptions, I have stayed there on every trip. Yes, it's expensive (+/- $100) and not in the zona but it provides a good base. It's in a shopping center with decent restaurants, massage parlors, a betting parlor, a strip club, little shops, night clubs, and a large grocery store. It's only a $5 cab ride to the zona with a cab line right outside the door. The bellmen are great and there's always beautiful women eating in the restaurant there. It also has a betting parlor (Caliente) on site with a bar. Also, one of the "perks" (at least for me) is always running into zona hookers in the elevator leaving their allnighters in the morning.

I was fortunate to hook up with a good group of guys (online) before I headed down and they showed me the ropes. My first trip (10 years ago), I went with a friend and though we had a good time (with mostly info from the famous Brockton O' Toole FAQ), it never compared to the experiences over the last 7+ years.

Some info/advice:

Like Vegas, spend what you want but don't spend more then you can afford. DO NOT let anyone there or on the boards tell you you spent too much on hotels, chicas, or booze. If you walk away having a good/great time, it was worth it, to you.

Know (at least) a little Spanish but don't be afraid if you don't. I initially went with my high school knowledge and have learned more since then but I am far from fluent. Knowledge of the language will help with some conversations with the chicas but a lot of them (especially in the larger bars) know English (sometimes more then they let on).

Don't be afraid to say "No" to chicas, barkers, waiters, etc. ... but do it graciously.

Larger bars that have strip shows (CC, AB, Tropical) are great places to see what there is "to offer", so to speak. TJ has a lot of beautiful women but their clothing hide many flaws that "appear" once in the room. On the flip side, strippers in these clubs are a) harder to get because they're in demand, b) "can" be a little more expensive, & c) usually can not to extended or out-date sessions because they hae to be back to dance. You can barfine them but that's expensive as well.

There's a lot of other tidbits I could offer but most have been outlined in this thread or others on this board. Have a great time and make sure you post about your experiences.

At Cascadas they don't take reservations but you won't need it on Thursday anyway and once you're there you'll be set for the weekend. It isn't high end for sure but it's decent and your best bet in the zona. I've never had problems with hot water or anything else. The television will only have a few stations including one porno. For your last night there if you have cash left you may want to upgrade to a jacuzzi room. A single goes for $41 and last time I tried it the jacuzzi was $67.

Rio Rita on Revolution is a good hotel, very close to the zona and in the middle of the revo strip clubs. The only negative is they don't allow girls up to your room so you have to get creative if that's what you want.

I would add one more negative to the Rio Rita or for that matter, any other hotel on Revolution. Unless you're planning on dancing the night away, don't expect to get any sleep. The music dies down about 4:30 AM... if you're lucky.
