OOPS !!! I'd never been in there. I stuck my head in and the customers were dancing - but they were all guys. Perhaps the number of gay magazines for sale at the adjacent newstand should have been a clue...... When I ran back out of there shaking my head the nearest SG laughed at me. If I haven't gotten through to you, this is a gay bar.

I have been to this a couple of times when the place first got remodeled and openned.

I never thought about it being a gay bar. My visits were in the day time and simply to get a beer and relax. I never saw women in here, but that is not uncommon in the daytime.

This revelation surprises me, but I can believe anything in the zona.

Maybe I'm wrong but the were about 10 men dancing - free style not hugging - and I didn't see any women. When I left I was shaking my head and saying "son...." (making limp wrist motions) and the SG outside laughed......

If someone knows better, I stand corrected.

I have been told many times that it is a gay bar.

I have seen both real and fake women in El Taurino. The big attraction for me is the 13 peso brandys.

The Bar Taurino has a very nice balconey above street level which overlooks Constitution. I've often sat up there with a few male friends enjoying a quiet relaxing afternoon, while overlooking the street action from above. I always wondered why we would always get those smiles and winks from a few of the patrons in that place. I never thought it as a gay bar, just always thought the locals in there were very friendly!

While walking around the block the other evening, me and my TJ trip buddy, (I won't mention any names here) were passing by this bar checking out the SG's on the street.

While walking slowly past Bar Taurino, there were a couple of SG's standing directly outside the bar. Didn't recognize them from before and automatically assumed they must be somewhat new to the hooker scene.

As we walked by, both girls grabbed at our clothes with that usual "Hsssp" that they sometimes use to get your attention. Upon further examination up close, I stared for a about two seconds at the one closest to me, and said to my friend, "Is that a Drag Queen back there?" To which he replied, "I was about to ask you the same thing." As we both started down the hill in search of better looking SG's, my friend suggested we go back just to get a better look and satisfy our curiosity as to whether or not it was a male or female.

Upon closer inspection, I could see this "SG" had a little too much make-up on than the average SG, and upon even closer inspection, the SG that my friend was checking out had questionable gender appearance also. In other words, yes they were two Drag Queens.

What is unfortunate is what we discussed as we started back down the hill- how many times does the slightly intoxicated wandering "John" who's in search of a cheap BJ even realize he's in for a big surprise when he takes one of these DQ's to a hotel room?

It can be very humiliating, not to mention diappointing knowing these DQ's are preying on unsuspecting mongers who probably can't tell the difference. I'm glad I can. It's all those years of drinking at the Bambi Club that's made me such an expert in gender recognition.

Walked in here in Feb of 2003 at about midnight on a Friday. We were sick of paying for over priced drinks and had just been in a dive bar that charged us $4 for a Corona and a shot of top shelf Tequila. So we were on a mission for cheap drinks before back to mongering. Sat down at the bar, ordered a beer for me and my buddy and drank about half before turning around towards the dance floor. Still looking at the floor it didn't quite kick in. Finally it hit me. I told my buddy is the dance floor all guys. He being brain dead said" Yeah". Oh shit..........this place is GAY, GAY, GAY. The waiter laughed at us as we questioned him. We saw no TV's but all dudes. I'm sure plenty of guys have done the same. Anyways we downed our brew and banged a couple of SG's. Stay clear of this place!!!!!!

Its not hopeless, I picked up a real chica here a few weeks ago and had a great time in the hotel.
