There's this taco stand that I have given props to in the past for having the best tacos of ANY stand. They make 'em with torillas that they make right in front of you. They open up late tho around 7:30 PM and they're located at martinez and constiticion (I think it's constiticion, if you walk out of AB and make a left and keep walking about 3 blocks you'll see it right on the corner in front of a liquor store). I know these aren't the best directions but believe me it's worth it. I will be in TJ tomorrow and Sat so I'll update the directions later. They sell for around 0.75 and the stand doesn't sell beverages but the liquor store is right there. One last thing, it helps if you have pesos. She always quotes your bill in pesos. She will accept USD but you get a better deal paying in pesos. Not sure if it's her bad math or just a shitty exchange rate. I've never raised a stink about because I enjoy eating there. So all you cheap MoFos who like to complain when they feel they're getting ripped off you have been warned.

The streets "Constitucion" and "Miguel F. Martinez" are parallel. I hungrily await better directions.

SP, you're right, and as promised the correct intersection is Coahuila and Martinez. You be the judge.

Milkman, The open air cafe at the corner of 5th & F Martinez makes good ones. But that seems to be their entire menu. What, no frijoles y arroz?
Did I miss seeing their menu, or is it just tacos?
ps: you're the one from Topeka?
| By Milkman on Tuesday, November 27, 2001 - 02:18 am: Edit |
hi Xkansan
perhaps you have been blinded by all the hot pussy in TJ. -lolololol
They have a huge selection of food there.
Request one of their menus.
They even have their menu on the side of the building ( the internet cafe building)
the locals love this place and say they have the best chorizo & carna asada in tj.
I always tell people about this place and have small get togethers with fellow mongers here.
They all agree this is the best taco stand in TJ.
Where is Topeka ?

I ate at the Taco stand on 5th & F Martinez and have bad news: Twice after eating tacos I got diarrhea. At first I didn't realize the connection so I went back and each time, about 18 hours after eating their tacos I had to run and spend some quality time on the toilet. I ate at the place last year, but they had a different taco-man. Maybe the new guy has some bugs. Too bad since the tacos are really good. But my guts are pretty strong. For me get diarrhea there must be something really wrong.

hi
i started posting about this place over 1 year ago.
I eat there about 3 times a week , sometimes for breakfast too.
There tacos are the best in TJ.
I never had a problem with digesting any food in tj and i have eaten at some very subject places and stands in tj.
i often have get together with mongers from this board there and This is the first i have heard about any problems.
Sorry that you had the shits.

A friend of mine and I tried La Chuleta 2 or 3 months ago on a Sunday afternoon because of the glowing reviews here. We both had the carne asada tacos, and we were both very disappointed by both the taste and the quantity. Maybe we just caught them on a bad day, but I would rate them about on par with the stands of "pussy taco" infamy, which I no longer eat at. We did not get sick however.

The weird thing was that the shitting did not start until 3 pm the next afternoon. Since it happened on two days after eating at La Chuleta I think there is a clear connection. However, the taste of the tacos was outstanding and better than the ZN stuff, IMHO.
I have no problems of digestion and me getting diarrhea must mean that whatever was in their stuff was in it at a high dose!

Tacos al Gordo is probably the best tacos in TJ. It is a chain and they have lots of locations in TJ. Just ask someone and they'll know where one is. In fact, they now have a few Tacos Al Gordo in San Diego because they are so popular in TJ.

Tacos el gordo make great tacos but not the best.
many locals will tell you that
its funny but the Adoboda tacos in San Deigo are much tastier than the TEG's in TJ
I also Love Tucanes
Just my opinion on the tacos
take care

Vista, CA. I've been to a lot of their concerts and have had a great time. How can you not want to get out on the dance floor with a chica when the DJ plays "La Chica Sexy", "El Tucanazo", or "jugo a la vida". Plus many more. What songs of the tucanes do you like? However, I am not into the narco-corridos.

Just want to add one thing. Although it didn't look like the best place in the world, the taco place outside of Hacienda was excellent. They only serve Birria but the flavor and quality was top notch. And no after effects. The End

Milky,
I was there just this last week and they raised the prices to $1.20 per taco. The wall with menu is painted white now.
