This is a new club in Plaza Fiesta, Zona Rio. I tried to stop in on Monday, but it didn't open til 8pm and I was an hour early. Anyone been and who can report what it is like?

Went on Thursday night a few weeks ago. It is very similar to Madonas (same owner), but bigger - in other words, much like an American style strip club. The place was fairly crowded, and there were several attractive women.

Kumbala has been advertising recently in El Mexicano. Sunday through Wednesday there's no cover. Thursday through Saturday it's 50 pesos

No cover last week at MN. Beer 20 pesos, no continuing floorshow, but up to 5 minutes in between dancers even at MN on Friday!
Place looks and feels like a nice neighborhood stripclub with many regulars and the girls chatting away.
No reason to drive to this place, but worhtwhile looking into when in the area.
The waiter told me the show starts at 9, but the place does not pick up until after 10 when the rest of the Plaza Fiesta gets busy and the first guys who can't score at Cafe Cinque or Monte Pichaco come in, I guess.

This place is the penalty box for Bolero and Madonnas. If the girls at Bolero get in trouble (coming in too late or certain "touching infractions") they send them here for a few days. The place doesn't make alot of money so the girls hate it. I would not waste my time with this place- go to Bolero. As always, however, sometimes you get lucky wherever you are and this little hole in the wall is no exception.

I went by about 11:30 pm, last Saturday. What should be their busiest time. There was a sign up saying, $5 cover charge. I said I did not want to go in, due to the cover charge. They promptly said, it is $3. Still, I hesitated.

They offered to let me look in, from the doorway. I did so, and saw several women, and a fair number of guests. Even so, I mosied on.

I've been in, once before. Some impressive women. But, a fair amount of pressure to get a drink. That was, tho, when they did not have a cover charge.

What is the story on screwing women out of this place? Is there a hotel nearby? I'm not a fan of humping in those closets with curtains that some bars have!

Porker and Kendricks, you might like this place, if that is the routine! I seem to recall you have posted recently about such hijinks.

I'm not a ''BIG FELLOW'' (tho, most hookers say I HAVE a BIG FELLOW - and they certainly would not try to flatter, would they?!). And, I'm less inhibited than many. Still, it just seems too cramped, to do the in-n-out, in there.

I'm in the Zona Rio often, usually to watch a movie across the street, in the Plaza Rio. Reports on sessions with women would be appreciated, inluding, prices. I have the impression women would be at least $50/30 minutes.

And, I am not a fan of Avenida Revolucion bars - too many thieves, both waiters and women. Madona's is, and I believe this Bolero is also, a Revo bar.

According to Robertx' post under Madona's, there is another Bolero, in Pueblo Amigo. It gets better reviews than the Revo Bolero.

On the other hand, what they are penalyzing these girls for, sounds exactly like what the women should be doing- i.e., allowing lots of groping.

There is another ''Kumbala'' - in this case, a hotel, on the east side of Niņos Heroes, 'tween Articulos 123 (Calle Primera)(First Street) and the Callejon (sp?) Coahuila (the alley). It is a street girls' short-time hotel, down a long hallway.

What does the word mean?

Bolero on Revo is now called Divas and a mess. Boleros is in Pueblo Amigo, right behind Senior Frogs aross from Zool.
It is only good at night, after 10. Madonnas is the only better strip club in TJ which is busy during afternoons and early evenings.
My favourite clubs at this point are Lord Black and Penthouse (5th Piso) both are also only worth a visit after 9 or 10 pm.
Kumbala in Plaza Fiesta is a complete waste. I'd rather look at some hotties at Monte Pichaco or Sotano Suizo.

I don't think Divas is managed by the same people as Madonnas and Boleros...

Yes. Divas, Madonnas, Bolero, Lord Black, and Kumbala are owned by the same group. In the good old days you could buy a year-long pass for free entry to all of them (at the time it was only Madonnas and Bolero) but they have done away with it. Still, you will see the girls migrate between the various clubs.

They are all white clubs for white people.

Better just stay in the USA than come to TJ for these clubs

Maverick: I never pay cover at a TJ strip club, except for 5 Piso all other managers let you go in for free if business is as slow as it has been for the last months.
The cover is a deterrent for low life locals, but not a major source of income for the club.
I agree with Milky to some drgree and wouldn't drive down from LA to visit these clubs. SR, 4Play and many others are FAR BETTER, but for us suckers in SD, the TJ clubs are the only place for decent stripping.
In addition LB, 5 Piso and Madonnas serve as great places to hang low and relax before and after doing business or shagging in TJ.

Robertx, I think I've had this discussion with you perhaps 1 or 2 years ago regarding TJ strip clubs. I've found the "honey-hole" dating TJ strippers out of all the aforementioned clubs over the past 6 years, and am still currently in a long-term relationship w/ a TJ stripper (and her bi girlfriends). For years I thought that eventually every gringo would catch onto the scam and start flooding the clubs and picking up the chicas, but to my dismay nothing has changed (thank God). I love the zona for a quick getaway, but picking up non-pros is where its at for total GFEs. When's the last time you went into a SC just to get taken for a few lap dances and drinks? The SCs are fertile hunting grounds, as are restaurants and stores- for getting laid. Only problem is it generally takes a few weeks and some minor level of sophisitcation to manipulate the situation, which is why most mongers seem content pursuing the 1/2 hour sucky/fucky rigamorole. If I were given an ultimatum to be banished from the SCs or the zona, I'd stay in the SCs to get laid.

Maverick: I think we are talking about something different. The strip clubs in TJ are good hunting grounds to find dates, but not different than regular clubs. However, many chicas there will not work as hookers and my point has always been that it takes too much effort to turn a dancer into a hooker. On the other hand dating dancers is cool and why shouldn't it? Many beginners ask if they can head down to TJ, go to Madonnas or Boleros and get a TLN with the hottest dancer. My point is that it is not that easy and that a monger is in gernal better of buying elsewhere.
On a second note, I still don't think that the strip clubs in TJ can compete with US clubs. Every time I return to LA or LV I am reminded how pathetic the clubs in TJ are. Unfortunately the ones in SD are even worse.

Absolutely true on both points. I'm not talking about getting a "one-nighter" from a stripper (very rare) but rather a long term thing (relatively speaking). I agree if not for the ability to pick up, wine and dine, and otherwise manipulate a young Mexicana stripper compared to doing the same in LV (costing MUCH MUCH more), there's no reason to be wasting your cash in a TJ SC.
Jocannon- I was hush-hush for years but now I realize that the scam won't change anytime soon. As I said, most mongers have no interest in or ability to date an actual "semi-pro" or "non-pro". Most guys just can't make the time and financial investment into one particular chica, or don't want to. That's fine with me.
