This club may be of interest particularly to Hombres over 30...OK, maybe over 40, who are looking for a comfortable place to meet older single mexicanas who are fortunate or industrious enough to have landed a few steps up on the socio-economic scale from our zona amigas. However, I have been told that zona chicas occasionally can be found at this club.

It is in the Zona Rio...more or less right next to Baby Rock (1 block east on Paseo de los Heroes) and adjacent to the Real de Rio Hotel (sic?).

My first visit was on the Saturday before Easter. I was with a couple of friends...one of whom was of the female persuasion - so I didn't have much opportunity to spread myself around. I'm looking forward to returning soon sin amiga.

We arrived at around 10PM and paid $5 cover per person. Plenty of street parking right in front of the club - not a valet in sight, but several guys working the door and keeping an eye on cars. The club wasn't crowded at this hour, so we found a choice table from where we could observe all the action. We stayed until after 4am. The club got crowded, but never really packed elbow to elbow - perhaps due it being Easter Weekend. Drinks were moderately priced...a bit higher than the zona and much higher than Las Pulgas, but fine Tequila was as cheap or cheaper than in the zona.

The crowd was the oldest and accordingly the tamest I have ever observed in a Tijuana nightclub setting. Many single mujeres - but most fell within the 33-45 year old bracket with more over 45 than under 33. Overall, I can't say it was an attractive group of women on this particular night irrespective of age. Definitely fertile hunting ground for the gigolo's among us. The norteamericana in our group (she is a spanish speaking chicana) was one of the youngest (at 28) and perhaps the hottest chica in the club.

EVERYBODY dances to the live band that played all night with short breaks. There was no music between sets. The band played everything from Rockabilly to Ranchera. Some of the music was well done, some of it was horrendously executed. The two dance floors were full most of the time. No matter what music was being played, all of the dancing was free style. No partner dancing whatsoever aside from the slow dances, even when they played Cumbia. Had they played Tango and Lambada, I doubt couples would have touched hands at any point. Just weird! You will absolutely not have to be concerned with having any knowledge of latin dance steps. Really, the lamest dancing I've ever seen in Mexico. At one point they played the "Ketchup Song" and me, myself and I were the only idiots in the joint bringing a bit of the hand jive associated with that number to the party...yeah, I was full of Cazadores.

Ochoa's is filled with single people, but it doesn't have the oppressive heaviness of a "meet market". Really just a laid back crowd enjoying a night out without larger agendas for most. People get together to dance, and then more often than not, go their separate ways back to the tables they originated from. Surprisingly, I did not detect another gringo in the club all night long...though there was some measure of ethnic diversity

At one point I thought I would hookup with the chica who I thought was the most attractive aside from the amiga in my party. She was a tall, thin, very pretty and dignified looking woman in her early 30's who sat with female friends a few tables away from us. She detected my interest and eventually returned it...beckoning me over with a head gesture and a smile. However, a young dude sitting at a table between her's and ours thought the gesture was for him and got up to approach her before I could get in motion...he beat me off the line - asked her to dance - she declined, and he made like a Tomahawk missle for the baño. Instantly, two turbaned Sihks followed to fill the space so rapidly vacated by the young guy. She and her friends struggled against their persistence, but eventually admitted them to the table and danced and socialized with them for the next hour or two. My opportunity was lost in confusion!

If I lived close to the border, I would find Ochoa's a good place to enjoy laid back good times and possibly get together with a mature and stable mexicana.

I wrote about this club about a year and half ago and had the same experience as Erip. I was there for a birthday party and saw the great possibilities for the elderly of us. Unfortunately, this is a regular hangout for my sister in law so I just don't want to be caught without my wife.

Assuming they still have a ladies night-I wonder how the talent pool compares to Sat night.

BTW unless things have changed they have a parking lot around back.

they do have more mature women. there are usually many in their late 20's and 30's and they appear to be professional women. of course i haven't been in about 18 months or so.

Milky does this same thing in San Diego. Only difference is in San Diego he doesn't go to bars. he goes to nursing homes. Some people will do anything for money

Wow, a year and a half since the last post on this place. Well I attended Milkey's Chikas Night at Ocoas this past Thursday... and it turned into "Solo Man on a Mission" ~~~

I drove to SD from LA leaving at 3PM.... the plan was to meet up with Milkey & sons at abt 8:30 - 9PM... I made it to SD around 6PM... humm... no reason to go into TJ that early... Let me get some new shiny shoes to tear the dance floor with, I punch in a few dials on the Navi... and I am off the mall... I cruise around the mall to get myself some cool shoes... My dumb ass got so obsessed with finding new shoes that I lost track of time ooh shit 8PM... so I am off... Make it to the border at 8:45PM... dam I smell a little iffy... so I decided to get a room close to Ochoas... or as I referred to it OCHOS (BAD MISTAKE)... Asked around for a decent Hotel Down there and ended up at Camino Real Tijuana, called in got a discount on the room... done booked it. by this time it was hitting 9PM and I was lost in Tijuana. As I cruised around looking for the hotel, I got several offers from some SG’s.. but no I must make Chika Night. so back I go. I finally found my hotel. 9:30PM - I run in and try to check into the hotel.. “no I no find your name”... what? What? sorry we are booked... Dam conventions... Luckily I had the name of the person I spoke to Carols... he was very apologetic and found my room under a misspelled name.. whosh the force is on my side... but not quite... So I run upstairs to my room... my bags.. i call down for them to bring them.. 5, 10, 15 minutes... dam. so i take a shower.. with shampoo in my eyes a knock at the door… I grab a towel and answer the door.. now the carpet is wet and its 10PM… it gets better.. So I get my gear on and my new shiny shoes.. I go down and decided forget the car let me grab a cab… I get into the cab and say “lleva me a ocho” (take me to eight)… well he took to eight alright… eight street… there was nothing there and I was lost… dam milk gave me wrong directions… so I tell him take me to an internet café… the cabbie was cool we ended up around the corner… as I logged it I looked at the time… 10:45… I pull up the e-mail and read eight… better write it down… so I write down the addy and the name… OCHOA… as I give it to the cabbie he said oooh OCHOA… si OCHO I reply… he then points out the spelling… I feel like a blockhead… so I sit in the front of the cab with my new friend as we speed down to Ochoa… I get to Ochoa and expect to see a group of people that somehow I think I will automatically know… ooh yea one thing I have never met Milk is Chilln’ or anyone else for that matter… so I cruise in and look around the place… No familiar faces… umm yea that is because I know no one…. I decided hey I’m here I’ve done other places solo… so I hang at the bar have a few drinks to get warmed up… there was NO music playing WTF? I turn to a guy sitting at the bar and ask… DO they play music here? He looked at me with a perturbed stare, ahh Spanish I need to speech Spanish… So I ask again this time in Spanish.. ooh si estan descasando… they are taking a break. Ahh…. So we chat..for a bit then I decided it time to dance.. ok here I have to give a little grief to MR. Milk… these are REAL REAL MUJERES not Chikas… it seems that this crowd is abt 35-60 or so… not many hot women in here… but the atmostphere is pretty cool.. I talk to a few sit drink dance dance and dance….. the band plays everything from Cumbias, Spanish Rock, New Wave, and Salsa… it was a fun and amusing time.. Even though many of the females there were not my type… this place is a cool hang out, where you can just relax dance, have a few laughs and enjoy the night with no pretentious women. Everywoman I asked, I danced with.. the normal clubs are like a 1 in 4 shot. It’s a small place two dance floors, which are packed some booths around the outer rim and the bar in the middle. It was a fun time… but may not be the place if you’re looking for 20 yr old women. As for the rest of my night which continued on to Pulgas, well that is another adventure in it’s self… lets just say.. my car needed to get detailed when I got back to the states…

Any way Ochoas is good if you just want to dance but it is like everything else you have to take the shot to ever have a chance of something happening. Last MAy I met an ultimate young hottie there and my trip report is on here somewhere.

Anyway about ten minutes after arriving Milky had to leave and I did at least get to meet SCatmandoo and he was nice enough to give me a ride back to the zona.

I look forward to hearing your pulgas report.

It really was a good time and its a good venue for the hombres to get together relax have drinks. Funny you mention the balloons, some were popping as i walked in but i never put 2 & 2 together... ooh well next time... and i will buy the 1st & 3rd rounds...ha...

Too bad you missed us. But if you got someone to dance with you, even a much older lady than you first anticipated seeing, you did better than Milky. He got turned down the one time I saw him ask a girl.

Arrived too early for TJ. You nuts? I did two SGs at 6 & 8 before I drove out to the Chica Fiesta. Milky said the Ocohas crowd, which typically has older chicas than you find in front of the Hacienda, was especially OLDER the night we went. Apparently a kind of a "hit or miss" type place. After all, one group of 5 young chicas could make a big difference

So since Ocoaha had a much older crowd, I left with Maxy to LZ. I ditched him at the end of an alley stroll, right before going into his stomping ground of AB. I started my third date of the night with Monica forehead de Veracruz. We waved goodbye to Maximus as we headed across the street to the Hacienda.

I know too early for TJ, i was nuts... but I didnt want to get sucked in to going to LZ or i would have stayed there all night and missed CF althogether... (Compulsive behavior)ha

I think if someone puts another one of these things together we should hit both Ochoas & Las Pulgas and get a vibe of where the woman are at.. we need to use our resources.
