Another new place that I've heard really great things about. It reportedly specializes in the cuisine of Baja. Have any of you been to this place?

Great place. A little on the expensive side. Lots of very nice looking rich women.
IF you plan on going thursday-sat night, you will need reservations.

Thanks. Can you say more? I'm thinking of taking some Gringos to these places, but also am on the lookout for places to take my favorite local female talent. Did you bring a working girl with you? Did you need to dress up?

Bull,
I would reccomend that you at least put on a nice shirt and probably something besides levis. This place is kind of nice. During the day you will get a business crowd and in the evenings you get the upper slice of TJ demographics. The number of Mercedes, BMWs, Navigators etc, with Mexican plates is impressive.
The only problem with a working girl in these places( Saverios, Cien Anos, Palma Azul) is that sometimes they dress like working girls and you get stared at all night by the other patrons. You can take the girl out of the ZOna but sometimes you can't take the Zona out of the girl. I know that some of my fellow hombres like the attention. I don't. I have a reputation to protect. LOL.
I also highly recommend the Original Cien Anos. Great food and nice atmosphere. Try the duck. And the dried cricket tacos are tasty also. I am not joking.

Oh, that duck. With the sesame sauce. Oh my. I need to get something to eat.....

Thanks, Batster.
I have patronized Cien Años (not to be confused with Cien Anos) and Saverio's on multiple occasions, with gringas and working girls, as well as groups of friends. Indeed, those are excellent establishements. I would agree that it is important to choose your companionship wisely, as a coarse chica with poor etiquette can be embarassing. I'm sometimes amused by the talent that frequents the bar area at Saverio's.
I posted about Palmazul (and Cheripan, and Rincón San Román) because they are to the best of my knowledge fairly new, and reportedly quite good.

I agree that you have to be careful whom you invite to these nicer restaurants. I see almost exclusively upper class and upper middle class (with the exception of Batster1) Mexicans and occasionally gringos at these nicer places.
I would be more concerned about taking some of my gringo friends than most of my "Pie's". At least they know which fork to use for their salad.

Does anyone have addresses for Palmazul, Cheripan, and Rincón San Román? Thanks!

Thanks Ben.
But I want you to know that I have been in High Society mode all week. And I fit in perfectly. LOL
On Saturday I went to a by invitation only event at CETYS in Ensenada. I was a guest of the Rector and sat at the table of the University President and the owner of the Calimax stores. Lots of very very high class Mexican women wearing hats and shit like that. I blended in just like water and oil. LOL
On Sunday I had dinner with a congressional candidate. That was more my style. Politicians being whores and all.

I was just kidding amigo.
Anybody who knows where to buy the best hotdogs in Tijuana is high class in my book.

To Palma Azul, Take Agua Caliente direction La Mesa until you hit the point where the two directions merge( just past the grand hotel)
Do a U turn so you are now heading back toward el centro. Palma Azu will be immediately on your right hand side. Big parking lot Restauraunt is in new stand alone building.
Good Luck.

The rumor is that the only reason a cowboy like you is invited to high society and high-class events is because your wife is high class.
Kinda like the lady and the tramp!

My chilanga definitely has more class than myself. You will have to meet her one of these days. You can even bring one of your teenagers. My girl is pretty open minded. She never even batted an eye when we had dinner with Conozco and his girlfreind.
And you are right, I am one of those mountain boys who prefers to eat with my fingers and have no clue which fork is for salad. LOL In fact I never eat salad. Give me meat an potatoes any time.
Speaking of meat and potatoes. I was very surprised to find that the restauraunt in the big Sombrero out on Aguas Calientes is actually very very good. And on a Saturday night, they have a really sexy lounge singer. I thought it was probably a taco place or something, but it was actually pretty nice.

Palmazul
Address: Blvd. Salinas 11154
Area: Col. Aviacion
Hours: 1 p.m. - Midnight weekends, 1 p.m. - 11 p.m. weekdays
Phone: 622-9775
Looking forward to trying this place...
I’ll post the info for Cheripan, and Rincón San Román under the threads for those eateries.
If I am particularly concerned about the quality of the gringos I’m meeting for a meal, I simply meet them north of the border, for instance El Agave in San Diego’s Old Town.
Everybody knows that for the best hotdogs anywhere on the planet, including TJ, there is a neat local bar and hang out across the street from Plaza Rio called Soloto Suiez (close enough to the correct name) translates in English to Swiss cellar, and the owner is Swiss. The cost is $5 and they are served in the bar. One dog could feed two if you were not really hungry. The hotdog is actually a Hungarian sausage that is maybe 8-9 inches long. (OK, to be honest, I have not actually been there, but one of my high society [more “high” than “society”] friends at this website told me about this place… Can’t wait to go try it).

I introduced both the famous Ben and the famous Milkman to the Famous hungarian dogs at Sotano Suizo. Boy do I run with a rough crowd. But the dogs are good and the beer is cold and its 2-1 from 5-7. In fact I think I am going to go have one after work. In fact I think I will leave right now.
Saturday night, I went into another place in Plaza Fiesta where I had never been. Its called the Cantina. Nothing great but there were lots of nice women. The one thing I liked is you can get a pony keg right at your table. The damn tap runs right up through your table and the keg sits in a tub of ice underneath. Kind of pricey at $100.00 for the pony keg, but not a bad idea for a b-day party where there is a large group of people, as was our case.

Lets hear it for good dogs.

Palma Azul is one of the best restaurants in TJ. It rivals a lot of nice places in San Diego as well. Expect to pay close to $50 for two at lunch. It and Cien Anos are probably the two best places in TJ.
