Explanation: Bar "El Fracaso" ("The Fuck-Up" or more properly, "The Flop") is a typical Mexican bar with a few different features. The clientele is almost totally Mexican and Chicano. Hours: 10 am to 6 am 7 days/week

Location: Articulo 123 (Calle Primera [1st Street]) between Revolución and Constitución on the north side. It's a little hard to see unless you are across the street.

Neighborhood Note; In the past, this block was termed "Calle de los Rateros" (Street of the Muggers). Due to increased police presence, I believe that the hazard is reduced, but it's a good idea to "dress down" and wear dirty shoes - my method. I never remove my wallet from my pocket in this neighborhood (even inside a business) unless I'm in a toilet stall (by myself), or in my hotel room.

Mexican music (Juke box) and format: Couples dance on a raised (about one foot high) stage.

The place is sometimes quite crowded without available seating. Many Mexicans are here only to drink, so if there seems to be too many guys, don't worry about it.

There is no particular hotel associated with this bar, nor is there a "bar fine".
Hotel Colon (across the street) is typical of the shit-hole short time hotels. Somewhat better is Hotel Posada (VERY small [short-time] rooms, but clean)
Hotel Imperial usually accepts U.S. $10 for one hour (if available).

Some waiters will overcharge you. (I usually buy at the bar). The "coins hidden under the bills" trick is frequent here. They may also charge you more than the bar would. Some waiters speak some english.

The layout is; a bar on the left, a centrally located stage (with corners at NE, SE, SW,& NW) , with tables located around the stage at floor level, and to the east edge of the room. Two pillars adjoin the stage at the East & West edges. (This is for location description of the girls.)

The edge of the raised stage features bench seating occupied by the girls. Additional girls stand near the corners of the stage, at the bar, and elsewhere.

The spectrum of women here varies WIDELY (i.e., Old/young, thin/fat). Almost zero english is spoken by the girls. On Friday, Saturday, & Sunday nights, the girls begin arriving in force about 4 pm. The bulk of them have arrived by 6 pm to 8 pm, and stay until 2 am. After that they start to thin out.

This bar features "Taxi Dancing", i.e., all of the girls dance with partners (you) as couples. You pay the girl (after dancing) one dollar per dance. The girls are "Ficheras", and profit by: $1/dance, $1.50/ladies drink (which usually cost $3.50), and payment for sexual services in nearby hotels. All but about 2 of the girls go to the hotel. The "Mexican price" is usually $20.00 per visit (15-30 minutes) and usually includes totally nudity and all positions covered sex. The cost of the hotel is extra. Of course, YMMV and gringos often pay more. One girl asked for U.S. $50 (I declined).

Thanks for the good report, how drunk were you the first time you went in there?? That has to be a high/low ranking dive bar and you being the only whetto. Brave soul, i`ve done the same other places.

I'm one that drifts in and out. I know a few chicas there, never had a bad time or a problem. I usually try to get a table for a drink, and complimentary dance. I'm going to look for Sr. Pauncho next time I'm there. F,S,S,
