2005/08 Tijuana Fair - Annually, About August 22 - Sept. 16
Rather like the big fair at Del Mar, San Diego County. Admission is $4.50 U.S. Phone 011-52-664-681-7084.
As at Del Mar, this fair sometimes has concerts that are included in the admission. Most, tho, it seems, are $20 and up. The concert starting time is late - 11pm+.
There are collectivo (routa) taxis from centro for a buck or so, and back, even in the early morning hours. I do not recall where they take off from in Centro, ask the other collectivo drivers. The fair is held at Parque Morelos, which is a long way east of centro. So, I'd suggest not getting a yellow cab, and even a Libre would probably be $15+.
For those driving there, you might want to enter from the Otay Mesa border crossing. Sorry, I do not know the street address. This park is huge and the taxi drivers know it - if they do not, they don't know Tijuana well.
If someone can fill in the above gaps - such as, location of the routa taxis, or a web site for the fair - please do so.

It's not as big as the Del Mar Fair but big for Tijuana. It's on Blvd Insurgentes next to Parque Moreles. There are a couple stages in the fairgrounds which have bands and are included in the price of admission. The Pelenque stage has a seperate entrance and a seperate price (the bigger names play here). Monday and Tuesday admission is 20 pesos for adults and there aren't any bands. Other days the price is 40 pesos.
To get to Parque Moreles from the San Ysidro crossing is easy. Follow the signs for Zona Rio and the Via Rapida, stay on the Via Rapida until the Blvd. Insurgentes exit, loop around and over the river, keep going and the fair will be on your right. $5 parking.
Interesting note, the security guards in the parking lot apparently aren't allowed to take tips. If you offer them one they ask you to leave it in the dirt when you drive away.

Another interesting note is that the reporter assigned by Frontera to cover opening night had his car stolen right out of the lot.

That sucks...I have been out there before and would have never considered that lot a security risk...
Anyway, the scintillatingly hot Ninel Conde (la nueva reina grupera?) is due to perform in about a week or so and mi esposa has graciously consented to our attending on that particular night...I am hoping that it is not a complete clusterflug over there (in terms of crowds) pero vamos a ver...
