How does one buy prepaid Pegaso roaming from Sprint?
Hippie: Put the damn thing on "home only" so it will not roam. My sprint works in the zona, plaza rio, playas, and my house near the race track. But if I let it roam, it will.....
Incidently, If I leave my Pegaso phone on "home only", it will work north of the border up to California 54.
Actually I was interested in a sprint cellular phone for my favorita so I can call her for longer extended periods. The one she has from baja cellular costs a lot when I call her from the U.S. You think it's more expensive for me to call from the U.S. to Mexico if she has the sprint phone or the baja cellular? Anyways I can't seem to find anything about the pegasus international calling plan on their website. I might have missed it somehow.

Wasabi Mas - What the hell happened on September 19 - 20?
Explorer - Sorry, I guess I was not clear enough. Sprint lets you contract for roaming on a monthly basis at a discounted rate, just like you do for non-roaming minutes. They sell it in blocks of 50 minutes, and each block costs $10.00 per month. If you don't use it all, too bad. The roaming applies to both U.S. and Mexico.
Powerslave - Thanks for the advice. I tried that once and it did not work, but maybe I was just in a really bad spot.
Crazyazn - it depends on how much time you want to talk each month, and exactly how much the Baja Cellular costs.
I'll tell you. I have some other questions that do not involve the kidnapping and torture of mutual aquaintences. You know, 'boy-stuff.' Oh, about September 19th and 20th, someone mentioned your name, just before Lakers walked into Clayton's. I've yet to talk with Lakers about it. I'll probably send someone and a brief list of questions to him. I'm sure he'll be ...eager to answer.

Senator -
Sorry this took longer than I promised, but a family emergency took me back east for a few days. Finnally got over there last night.
The address for the cold water apartment where I lived for a few months is: Calle Carlos Funque 6424B, Jardines del Rubi, Tijuana, Mexico 22190. As I mentioned this is an attached appartment to another house.
To get there, go up Blvd Funadores, like you are going to Motel Los Pinos, and pass the Gigantic next to it. At the next light, make a left. Then turn right at the stop sign, then count seven streets and turn left again. Or just past the regional police station if you lose count. Go up the hill and then make your third right. This should put you on Calle C. Funque, but as you probably know, there are scant street signs in Tijuana, same goes for house numbers. If you get lost, ask someone in the area.
No one was around when I was there, so I don't know if it is rented right now or not. But in this middle class neighborhood, I did notice several "se renten" signs, so there should be places around available. Its safe enough to park at night and some places have lockable gated driveways also. Just park, and stroll around the area.
While walking around and asking for places to rent is OK, this only works if your spanish is good enough. By far the best way to find a place is to get referred from a local... maybe your current favorita would be willing to help!
Good luck house hunting.

Hey Diego
Did you make the switch to cable internet in TJ. If so how's the service?
ReyTJ I had Cable internet in my old neighborhood with Cablemas. Service was OK, but they tended to get V E R Y slow during busy times. Since this was during the bad old days of servicio medido on the telephones, I did not mind. Now, I prefer dial up service.

Hey King - (ReyTJ)
Thanks to your news awhile back, I did pick up cable access thru cablemas. But it doesn't even come close to the speed that I am used to up north. I had two machines running side by side for a couple of days, one on a 56K modem and one from the cable, and it was hard to tell them apart by speed. A little nod to the cable when it came to heavy graphics. But more and more seems to depend on the site itself and not on the carrier. But the price is right! about P330 a month, so am going to stick with it for now. I'm still glad that I have a genuine fast service for by business on the other side!
What are you using?
Diego1
Diego 1, you're right about Espanol being helpful in the rental search. Good Spanish is important when apartment hunting. I had a woman in Hippodromo refuse me an apartment. Sure, she smiled and appeard to have a sense of humor, as I ruined her language. But, I think my Spanish did not appeal to this woman. Well, she may have seen the Ingram slung from my shoulder -under my jacket. Sometimes things like that alarm people.
Hey lady, the safety was on!

Diego, I'm using Terra which is associated with the Infosel newspaper chain. I'm not wild about their service and will probably give Telnor or Avantel a try.
What ISP are you using PowerSlave?

Do anybody know if there are anytype of public storge in TJ?
By Cjt9in on Wednesday, June 15, 2005 - 01:35 pm: Edit |
Rent can vary a lot. There are some studios for under $300, and 2/3 bedroom houses with a single secured parking space for about $600. Most require a 6-month lease. You really should speak spanish in order to properly negotiate. You can look in the papers or there are some places on lin if you do a google search

Yes there are public storage places in Tijuana but not as many as on the U.S. side. I know of three but I don't know their rates.
Its tough to get rentals sometimes because the owners will demand that you have someone "co sign" for you, who is also an owner of property in TJ.

Everybody thanks for taking your time and give me the information.
Dear Killit,
Ck the SanDiegoUnionTribune on sundays under mexican rentals. There hasnt been much lately but if you see an ad you can guarantee the person on the other end will speak english.
